Great layering piece!

I LOVE this shirt! The sleeves are long enough, the hem is long enough, it doesn't itch, it wears like iron (I've had mine over a year), and it's a lightweight yet warm first layer. I don't think the light colors work well as stand-alone shirts--too see-through--but the darker colors may be okay. All in all, a great piece for backpacking or working outdoors.

This shirt is the best. I got mine in 2011 and literally wore it to pieces. AND since it's Stoic I then returned it got a refund and then bought another. Its so soft, doesn't ever smell and looks great. I highly recommend this shirt. I actually got a Men's M the first time around because I wasn't looking for a tight fit. This time I'm trying for the Ladies L.
Great!

Great baselayer, need to size up if you want it a little on the loose side. Holds up after washing and hang-drying.

I have more than a few different Stoic shirts and love them all. I wear this one in layers or alone. I ordered it one size up to fit a bit more loose. I plan on ordering another in the next size down to be more fitted as a base layer. I agree that they resist odors and are not at all itchy. This shirt got softer after washing. Overall, it is a great all-purpose shirt.
Love this shirt!

I bought one a few years back. Loved it! Finally bought more this last month, along with the Stoic Breathe shirt (polyester). I sent the polyester one back (itchy and hangs badly) and will always go for the merino. It's very soft, light and hangs very nicely on the body. The color details on the black shirt are very flattering as well. I bought the Medium and I'm 5'4" and 140lbs. I wear it by itself usually, but would use it as the base layer if i need warmth.
Bang for your buck!

I will start out by saying these are not as soft or nice feeling as say Smartwool or Icebreaker, but I got them because they are way less expensive. They are a great layer for the price! They did feel a bit scratchy when I first got them but after a few washes and wears, they softened up. It's a great top, and has long enough sleeves, yay! I should mention as well that they are actually 95% merino wool and 5% spandex.

A great basic merino base layer. The thumb holes are great for keeping sleeves from bunching up when you?re putting on another layer. Runs a little big in my experience.
Love this shirt not the right color

This is one of the best shirts I have ever worn. I have it in black already and wanted another, so ordered the boysenberry. The color is simply not good for me. I might just get another one in black!
great, but...

I love the merino weight of the shirt. The sleeves fit great, I did not size down. One big issue. The crew neckline does not stretch! So every time it goes over my head, I tear some stitches out. My icebreakers have a stretchy crew neck and my stoics have stretchy hems and sleeves, so am clueless as to why this does not have a stretchy neck! I won't send it back cause I still wear it, but I've ordered another zip neck to replace this because this is really annoying and over time I don't know how long it will hold up.
fabulous shirt

love it, the arms are perfect (not too long). just wish stoic women's wool shirts came in a heavier weight like the men's. I love icebreaker 200 weight, but prefer the stoic fit, so a stoic 200 would be great.
So many compliments

I have never had so many compliments on a shirt before. I bought this in Ceramic in early December and so many of my friends and coworkers asked for the link to get these as Christmas presents. The side stitching gives a flattering fit and even though it's lightweight, the merino is great at temperature regulation. I wear this everywhere.
Great for layering

Fits perfect, arms length is perfect too, I like the pink costures on the outside.
Great fit, warm, not super sturdy...

I love this shirt, fits well, long enough to tuck in and stay, thumb holes don't bind, super warm, often even alone. HOWEVER, maybe because I wear it so much, the fabric has not stood up well to the use. The cuffs on both sides are pretty trashed after one season, left much worse than the right (a girls gotta know the time, and it does not fit under the watch) as well as in front where it appears to have suffered from contact with the zipper and buttons on my snowboard pants, etc. Thus, is no longer a candidate for wearing after i get done. Since the runs (think pantyhose) in the cuffs and midsection don't really affect the function as a baselayer, this will not be my last, but I hope they can beef up the fibers to, well, last through the season.
Love Stoic

My absolute favorite shirt. Ultra light-weight, but durable and warm after countless washes. If I'm not wearing this, its in my backpack in case I need a layer. Not at all itchy, it is the softest of all my merino wool shirts.
Warm and awesome

I'm really happy with this shirt. I don't find it itchy. I sized up to a large, and I'm happy I did because it gives me a little more room to move. I am 5'9" and appreciate the nice, long length. I can take thumbholes or leave them, and don't usually use these ones because my jacket and fleece both have wrist gaiters, but I don't feel they get in the way. This shirt is definitely my go-to baselayer for a frigid Vermont day!
I like the thumb holes, but....

Cute, but itchy. Wool usually doesn't bother me but this shirt is unbearable!

Awesome shirt, not itchy at all, really gorgeous color. And, it keeps me warm on chilly days all by itself, or on a really cold day, as a bottom layer. I just need more colors !!!
Great layer!

This is a great layer for any activity. It is super thin, but really warm and comfortable. It seems to run true to size. And it has thumbholes to keep your sleeves from bunching up when adding layers on top.

The Stoic Merino Crew is a sweet base layer. It is very warm and breathable. Because it is made of Merino Wool it does not stink after more than a week wearing it. The biggest problem is washing and drying it. The washing instructions from Stoic say to wash frequently with special wool wash, which is expensive. I have used powdered detergent and then not dried it, which has worked thus far. I am very happy with this base-layer and bought another one for my mom.
So does backcountry plan on getting anymore...

So does backcountry plan on getting anymore of these in? I already bought 2 (berry and jade) but now there are none in my size (XL) and I want more!

Bill! We need more! There are 3 more months of winter in the northern hemisphere alone, more in the south. Let's see it! I am impressed they are almost sold out, but not surprised
