Good Socks

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: M/L

These are extremely comfortable. They stay in place and don't sink down. Unfortunately, they aren't the most durable and tend to wear a little fast. Also, washing them (even on low temp & air dry) causes them to shrink, but they stretch right back to normal size.

Good for everyday use if you aren't walking, hiking, or running miles on end.

Good for light use

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I've got a couple pairs of these that I really only use for running, biking, hiking etc - I don't use them everyday. I like the weight of these - a bit more padding than a standard cotton sock, but not as heavy as a true hiking sock. They wick moisture pretty well and have been pretty resistant to foot funk. I do find that the wool version slides around in my shoes a bit which can be annoying if you've got a looser fit in your shoes to begin with. I haven't had any blister problems - I can just feel a bit of slop between my foot and shoe on sketchier terrain.

I've got several pairs of the taller versions that I use for everyday use and they wear through a bit faster than I can for. I like these for occasional use but not sure they would stand up to the stress of everyday use

No strife, great for a hike

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: lg/xl

Socks often go unnoticed, but are often the best piece of equipment you can own. Forget about blisters and uncomfortable feet- these offer awesome support/cushioning while keeping your feet dry to conquer that 14'er or your casual Monday afternoon hike. Would also recommend these for trail runs... keep your feet dry while running so confidently you think you can fly.

Hiking Socks

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

Needed some good hiking socks for longer day hikes and these were great. Didn't bunch up anywhere and I like the added protection on the heel. The Merino wool is great for moisture wicking and helping with smell. Buying more!

Dont stay in place

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

The cushion on these is classified as light, but feels on the thicker side. They have a nice soft feel and have anatomical markings for right and left. Over the years I've shifted away from the no-show socks for hiking since over time they seem to ride down. These started riding down right out of the package, even though they were properly sized for my foot. Decent socks, but they will only be used as a casual sock for this reason. Love the merino though.

Merino Merino Merino

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

You can't beat the Stoic Merino Comp Trail socks when it comes to price. They fit well, are comfortable and wick like they should. These are my go-to socks for mountain biking.

Good but shrink

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs small

I bought these and the synth version, which held its size, but these shrunk and I had to give them to my wife. Good socks otherwise. My shoe size is 8-9 and fit initially but not after washing, ordered the s/m.

Horrible Socks

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

The 1st pair I wore I poked my thumb threw putting them on. Returned them and was sent a replacement. These socks swiftly found the bottom of my sock drawer, most likely never to be worn again. The fit of these socks is completely off. They're too loose in the ankle or something.

Another Great Use Of Merino

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I cant rave enough about Merino wool. The stuff is just great. If I could afford it, I would have every piece of clothing I own made out of the stuff. Soft, great moisture and odor control, as well as mystical heat control as well. They keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These socks get a 4* rating from me because they do wear quickly, but that's kinda the deal with Merino wool. I haven't found a brand that wears any less quickly than these when worn 7 days a week. I have been wearing these almost exclusively for years and notice almost never does Stoic make the same color combo socks twice, so if you fall in love with a color combo stock up because they may not offer it in that style again. I would also recommend you size down if looking for a true NO-show sock. They are cut more like ankle socks than no shows.

Comfy but not the most durable

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

These socks are pretty soft and really comfortable, but I feel like their life span is a little limited if you're using them on a daily basis. I've been using these as everyday socks during the fall/winter for a couple years now and I tend to wear through the heel and under the ball of my foot in about a season. Would like to see these last longer, but for the price they're hard to beat.

In terms of fit and weight, these seem pretty true to size. They're a little heavier than your standard cotton socks, but not as heavy as a full blown hiking sock.

Great socks!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Great merino sock for the price. They do pill a bit, and also wear a bit, but for the price you can't go wrong. I also wear them for EVERYTHING! They are warm, but also wick well. Very comfortable for everyday in winter, and also for hiking. I also wear them biking on cold days

Comfy but don't last long

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

These socks are comfy but they haven't lasted as long as I had hoped they would. I picked up a total of 8 pairs about 6 months ago and usually wear them about 5 days per week. I'm noticing that in the higher wear areas that I've already worn nearly through. Just like thicker soled smart wools there is a black netting that the wool material is woven into. In the pic these are the black spots that you can see. I work an office job, drive to work, and I'm not especially active. I wouldn't have expected these to be failing so quickly.

On the plus side they are comfy and fairly thick, almost too thick to wear in the summer but they wick fairly well. As for sizing I wear a size 12 shoe and bought the L/XL and find that they fit just right. Slightly snug but not binding. At the end of the day they're only slightly loose. I was looking forward to having these for a long time but I feel like they're wearing out much too soon. I still have cotton socks from 5+ years ago.

Comfy but don't last long

Better than cotton socks

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I've worn better but these definitely did the trick and are well worth the amazing value. I took a couple pair on a long climbing trip and really put them to the test. They held up pretty well, were comfortable, and still fit great after a few days of use.

I wear a size 10 and i bought a medium.

Just ok for me

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Socks was never something I cared about. I wore the oldest simplest socks for the longest time. Unfortunately, I started walking the luxury sock path and now my my feet are pampered whiners. I picked these up because they are some of the cheaper merinos out there. They're comfy but they seem to fall off the back of my heel often. Other socks I've used don't. I'm a solid size 8 and I got the S/M so maybe I'll try the M/L to see if I have better luck. You can't beat the price.

Good fit and comfy

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I use them for biking to work. They fit well, are comfortable and warm. Will use them for hiking during the spring. Some pilling, but it doesn't bother me. I am very happy with the purchase.

Comfy

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I never really cared about socks before I started working at Backcountry, but now I have been introduced to the world of fitted, cushioned, awesome socks. These things are great! They definitely feel like they hug my feet well, and don't slip around when I run. They are truly a no-show sock and sit low on the ankle.

Definitely need more, my washer and dryer are hungry for socks...

Love these socks!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

I bought these socks so I could have a nice pair of hiking socks and boy did I make an excellent choice. These things are so comfy. Keep in mind they are a bit warm so wear them for spring, fall, and winter shenanigans.

A nice feature how the ankle part on the sock is shaped it makes it so the sock won't slide down under your foot over time. And for the price on these you can't find a better hiking sock out there.

i like 'em!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

like other stoic stuff i've tried, these socks are more affordable than others like them yet i notice no difference in feel or performance. i like the amount of padding, a little but not enough to make your shoes tight or your foot wobbly.
