Here's what others have to say...

Great running or hiking sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are great comfortable socks. I use them for running, trail running, and have used them on short hikes as well. They breathe great even in heat. They are however a bit thick, so if you are looking for thin socks you may want to try the synthetic version

Great for running

I love these socks....great for hot weather running...I wont run in anything else.

Great for hiking and biking

I wear an 8.5EEE shoe and the S/M fit just fine. My cotton socks always felt like wet wasshrags after riding, but these can be worn over and over. I'm sold on wool.

Not bad

These are great sicks. They stay warm if they get wet and aren't too hot for high temperature days. They have worn well and I haven't felt any hotspots. Good pickup for the price.

Great cold weather running sock

Great cold weather running sock. I wear these on all my winter runs. The shoes I wear are basically mesh and offer no warmth, but once I added these sock into the mix it was a game changer. I have ran in 12 degree Fahrenheit with no problem at all. You can't go wrong with the Stoic Merino Comp Trail No-Show Sock

Stoicism!

First off I need to say that these aren't a true "no-show" sock which is the biggest gripe I have about them. I picked these up for running and they stick out of my shoes much more than I would have liked them to. Compared to my "North Face Fire Road Running No Show Socks" these just don't cut it for a warm weather running sock. I must say that they are constructed very well, have great cushion and are merino which is always great!

Best socks I've ever worn.

I have owned these songs for quite a while now, and they never lose their cool factor. These are my go-to 3-season sock. The fabric has plenty of cushion for hitting the trail, and resists the smell that comes with a solid day of hiking! They vent well in the heat and keep your toes toasty in the spring/fall. No complaints!

New favorite socks

I got these off SaC, they are my new favorite socks. I used to be in love with some lorpins I have but these are just incredible. Really soft, don't make my feet sweat but when then temp drops they don't get cold either. They are stupidly comfy, and I like how they look too. Price isn't bad either.

Hot Monkey SOX

I'm really digging these socks, they are very comfy so far. My feet run hot, (pun intended), but they stay at a relatively good temp in these bad boys. This size is perfect for walking around town in a cross trainer. Typical Stoic bomber construction. Recommended.

I'm too sexy for my ankles

I like these socks. Good for road running. Being ankleless, dirt and stuff gets in if I wear them off road. Comfy. Merino. What else could you need? As with their taller siblings, I don't like the 'R' and 'L' thing, but that's me.

Great Socks

These are awesome. They're comfortable, breathe well, stay on your feet well, and don't stink at all. Great things in a sock. They're somewhat thicker than the average running sock, but that's because they're padded slightly, and they're also slightly warm. For $9, they're perhaps a little expensive for a sock, but I think they're worth it.

Great Socks, for the price

First, two pairs of merino socks for so little is cause enough to get them. These socks are great for sports, the gym, etc. (but not for hiking). Stylish and comfortable. They do a good job of keeping feet at the right temp and dry, whether it's cold or warm outside. I wouldn't recommend these for hot, humid summer days, but that's what sandals are for, right?

Comfy, but...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered 2 pairs of these sock in the black in a size XL. (I wear a size 12 shoe.) They fit great. They hug my foot comfortably, not too tight. There is "extra padding" (which is simply thicker areas) in the areas which pressure is usually applied (at the heel, around the outside of the foot and across the front of the foot) . The ankle cut outs are not as severe as I thought they would be either, but that doesn't really matter.

I wore one pair one day and then the second pair the second day. I wore them to work rather than on the trail. They fit fine inside my normal around-the-house tennis shoes, not too bulky at all. Once I got to work, I changed into my Crocs for the day.

What I found is that these socks are extremely hot! I work indoors (in surgery - so it is actually kept a little cold) and I was wearing a pair of Crocs with holes all in it. As hot as I found them, I tried to imagine how hot I would be on the trail, wearing them with enclosed shoes and hiking in temps of 90 F or above... I have not found my medium wt Smartwool socks to be this hot...

The other thing that I found is that these socks pill terribly bad. At the end of each day, these socks were fuzzy, bad! it was hard for me to believe how much they had pilled, but they did.

I have not washed them yet, but I will be sure to follow the directions for wash when I do so, and I am very curious to see if they pill as bad after an initial wear and wash. If they continue to pill as bad as they have, I do not forsee these socks lasting terribly long.

I give these socks 4 stars for the time being. The fit is great, but they are hot, and they do pill! So, time will see.

I have updated these socks to 4 stars. They are still a bit warm, but the piling stopped after a bit. I have been using them on hikes for the last 2 years and they are doing great though...

Great sock

Very supportive and breathable. I have yet to get them wet, but it won't be long till that happens. I have run around in the Southern heat and I don't find them hot at all. So far I have loved them, but I am only giving four stars just because I haven't had them long and I want to see how well they hold up over time. I would still recommend.
