Horrible Socks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The 1st pair I wore I poked my thumb threw putting them on. Returned them and was sent a replacement. These socks swiftly found the bottom of my sock drawer, most likely never to be worn again. The fit of these socks is completely off. They're too loose in the ankle or something.

Another Great Use Of Merino

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I cant rave enough about Merino wool. The stuff is just great. If I could afford it, I would have every piece of clothing I own made out of the stuff. Soft, great moisture and odor control, as well as mystical heat control as well. They keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These socks get a 4* rating from me because they do wear quickly, but that's kinda the deal with Merino wool. I haven't found a brand that wears any less quickly than these when worn 7 days a week. I have been wearing these almost exclusively for years and notice almost never does Stoic make the same color combo socks twice, so if you fall in love with a color combo stock up because they may not offer it in that style again. I would also recommend you size down if looking for a true NO-show sock. They are cut more like ankle socks than no shows.

Comfy but not the most durable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These socks are pretty soft and really comfortable, but I feel like their life span is a little limited if you're using them on a daily basis. I've been using these as everyday socks during the fall/winter for a couple years now and I tend to wear through the heel and under the ball of my foot in about a season. Would like to see these last longer, but for the price they're hard to beat.

In terms of fit and weight, these seem pretty true to size. They're a little heavier than your standard cotton socks, but not as heavy as a full blown hiking sock.

Great socks!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great merino sock for the price. They do pill a bit, and also wear a bit, but for the price you can't go wrong. I also wear them for EVERYTHING! They are warm, but also wick well. Very comfortable for everyday in winter, and also for hiking. I also wear them biking on cold days

Comfy but don't last long

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These socks are comfy but they haven't lasted as long as I had hoped they would. I picked up a total of 8 pairs about 6 months ago and usually wear them about 5 days per week. I'm noticing that in the higher wear areas that I've already worn nearly through. Just like thicker soled smart wools there is a black netting that the wool material is woven into. In the pic these are the black spots that you can see. I work an office job, drive to work, and I'm not especially active. I wouldn't have expected these to be failing so quickly.

On the plus side they are comfy and fairly thick, almost too thick to wear in the summer but they wick fairly well. As for sizing I wear a size 12 shoe and bought the L/XL and find that they fit just right. Slightly snug but not binding. At the end of the day they're only slightly loose. I was looking forward to having these for a long time but I feel like they're wearing out much too soon. I still have cotton socks from 5+ years ago.

Better than cotton socks

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've worn better but these definitely did the trick and are well worth the amazing value. I took a couple pair on a long climbing trip and really put them to the test. They held up pretty well, were comfortable, and still fit great after a few days of use.

I wear a size 10 and i bought a medium.

Just ok for me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Socks was never something I cared about. I wore the oldest simplest socks for the longest time. Unfortunately, I started walking the luxury sock path and now my my feet are pampered whiners. I picked these up because they are some of the cheaper merinos out there. They're comfy but they seem to fall off the back of my heel often. Other socks I've used don't. I'm a solid size 8 and I got the S/M so maybe I'll try the M/L to see if I have better luck. You can't beat the price.

Good fit and comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I use them for biking to work. They fit well, are comfortable and warm. Will use them for hiking during the spring. Some pilling, but it doesn't bother me. I am very happy with the purchase.

Comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I never really cared about socks before I started working at Backcountry, but now I have been introduced to the world of fitted, cushioned, awesome socks. These things are great! They definitely feel like they hug my feet well, and don't slip around when I run. They are truly a no-show sock and sit low on the ankle.

Definitely need more, my washer and dryer are hungry for socks...

Pilling obvious

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I've used these about 4 times and the socks already show considerable pilling. The sock is comfortable and I would recommend it with that being the only caveat.

Love these socks!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these socks so I could have a nice pair of hiking socks and boy did I make an excellent choice. These things are so comfy. Keep in mind they are a bit warm so wear them for spring, fall, and winter shenanigans.
A nice feature how the ankle part on the sock is shaped it makes it so the sock won't slide down under your foot over time. And for the price on these you can't find a better hiking sock out there.

i like 'em!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

like other stoic stuff i've tried, these socks are more affordable than others like them yet i notice no difference in feel or performance. i like the amount of padding, a little but not enough to make your shoes tight or your foot wobbly.

great socks, great deal

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

you're gonna be hard pressed to find a better bang for you buck than these socks. Comfortable, if not a little warm for the summer but the merino wicks well making them a great option for late summer hikes. They do breathe a lot better than the synthetic counterparts. Ergonomic fit that hugs your feet without being too tight. I haven't noticed any wear issues yet like some other users. I am around a 9-10 size foot and wear the M/L size.

Comfy, pill really fast

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Really comfy socks, the S/M fits well, I'm a size 8, but they pill up really fast. I haven't worn them out yet, but they seem like they might not be quite as durable as I had hoped.

Responded on

Very true. I love these socks, but they aren't as long-lasting as others. They seem to wear through quickly.

Great At First...

When I first got these socks I loved them. Then after a couple of weeks, the marino started to peel right off of the sock in the heel and on the achilles. The socks are warm and comfortable, but I would only buy these socks again if they were on sale.

Great Socks

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are great hiking socks. I took them up to King's Peak in September and they kept my feet warm. Really comfortable. These are my go-to hiking socks.

Nice, but Thick

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These socks are pretty nice. My only complaint is the thickness. They keep my feet way too warm when it's hot outside.

Nice sock, but too bulky

These socks are obviously not meant to be ran in for races. They are comfortable and meant to be worn during less strenuous training and even every day use for that matter. They fit well and actually have decent breathability but their bulkiness over weighs these qualities. Yes, this makes them warmer, but when it comes to trail running the thinner the better (at least for me). These are a decent pair of socks, yet stay away if you are a seasoned runner who enjoys supper light socks.

They come with no holes.

Pretty nice socks better than wall mart. The best feature is that they are marked left and right.

Really Comfy

I can really only stand to wear ankle-high socks, and these are as nice as I've put on. Good material, comfortable, breathable and won't stretch out much. I like 'em.
