Here's what others have to say...

Comfy, soft

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Softer to the touch than the synthetic socks. A good deal if u can get them on SAC. Dries quickly like other Marino products. Very warm, esp after wading in 45 degree water all day. Also ran a half marathon in these, they have a nice cushion on them

Comfortable, but material balls quickly

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I find these socks very comfortable, though I can't tell the difference between the right and left socks when I reverse them on my feet--in other words, why label socks 'L' and 'R'? Before the first wash, these socks tend to shed or get little piles of material ready to shed, like older wool socks sometimes do, but then they seem yo stabilize and wear well. I liked them enough to buy a second pack of three.

Very Comfortable!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The socks are a nice, light sock. They fit really snug around your foot but are a little less tight over/above the ankle. Even so, they stay in place and I almost forget I am wearing them!

Comfy, but wear out too fast

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought a 3 pack of these on Steep and Cheap and was pretty happy with them, though they did wear out a little fast. The toe seems to wear out quicker than other socks I've owned.

I decided to buy an additional pair when they popped up on SAC again and this pair didn't last it past 5 light uses. Sadly, the warranty department wouldn't refund or replace.

I run and hike quite a bit, and have used several brands of socks, including the cheapos. I've never seen a sock get a hole in the toe so fast. I also keep my toenails trim.

I give this 2 stars because they were very comfy while they did last. Durability is an issue so be advised, or make sure you get a rock bottom price on them and don't pay full retail.

Warm!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These are some of the most comfortable socks I've ever owned. My feet NEVER get cold while I'm wearing them and the Merino Wool is such a nice material. I'll be buying more of these.

The fit is great, I'm a size 10.5 and the Larges fit perfectly.

Ankle height is perfect for casual use or for use with Mid high hiking shoes.

My Go-To Socks

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love these for everything. I love running in them, I love traveling in them and I love wearing them on the average work day. They are really comfortable and the merino wool keeps your feet from getting too stinky during your various activities.

I like the fit on these as well. It is a tight fit and keeps the sock from bunching up in the end of your shoe or giving you blisters during your run.

Stoic has me stoked!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

In my search for a great running sock I bought the stoic synthetic sock based on some great BD.com reviews. I was not disappointed. But wanting something with a little more cushioning for some occasions I gave the Merino will version a try. Really happy with it. The upper is thin (who needs that to be thick?) But the foot has about the right about of material. Great sock. I have found my new go-to brans for socks. Like I mention in my synth sock review the sizing is a bit confusing. They size their socks in S/M, M/L, L/XL. What the heck does that mean? I found it to mean choose the latter size if that is what you wear. That is, if you usually wear a L, choose the M/L. I think it is also gimmicky that they come in a L/R pair. I don't find that useful but does not distract from my 5 * rating.

Great wool socks

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Pretty warm, great for hiking/working in colder weather. Worn them many times and they show little sign of wear.

My feet get warm very quickly, so I can't even touch these things before it starts freezing.

These are great for casual as well as the trail. I've used them for both, they're great. Size small, size 8 feet. Fits like a glove, and oh so comfortable during the cold months.

top value

i really picked these up for everyday use. some of the other reviewers say they hiked 10 miles a day and they didn't hold up. i'm not much of a runner, so i don't know about that. but for everyday use, you can't beat this value. it's a good blend or merino, acrylic, and nylon that hasn't had any pilling issues but still keeps my feet dry and comfy. i like the above ankle height for wearing with pants in warmer temps.

Durability is questionable.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

They fit and feel great but didn't last very long. As with some other Stoic Merino products like base layers that I have owned they tend to tear and wear out quickly. It might be that I'm pretty hard on them and wear them all the time, or possibly I don't have mad washing machine skills. Either way they wore great until all the heels blew out. Had multiple pairs for less than 6 months and now they are all in the landfill.

Bummer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have had good luck with other Stoic products so I was surprised when I wore holes into the heels of these socks within the first few weeks.

super comfy

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

i bought these for hiking, and they are so nice to have, they are super light weight, and breath really well. i will not go on a hike without these socks

Work well, could be more durable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These socks are great as far as function goes. They're thick, comfortable, and after a long, sweaty run or hike, the socks are dry, my feet are dry, and all the sweat has been wicked away towards my shoes. They work well. And the price is right. However, one star subtracted because they aren't quite as durable as SmartWool or other brands. Functionally perfect, and if you find them on SteepandCheap, you can't beat the price, but durability could be a bit better. The S/M size fits my size 8 feet well, no complaints on fit.

Trail Running champs

These are my preffered socks for trail running, they are comfortable and supportive and have held up nicely. I ran the Moab trail half marathon this weekend and had no complaints with my sock at all.

Nice!

These are really nice socks. Not too thick,Comfortable hiking, climbing(yes I do wear socks with my climbing shoes), or biking. Bit
concerned about the wear and tear, notice some
build up of bunched up fibers. Soft.

Got these for every guy I know!

Bought these first for my father in law as a gift, he requested more. Then my husband for his birthday, he requested more. Guess what's going to be in everyones stocking this year?

Stoic Merino Comp Trail Crew Sock

Hiked about 20 miles in these so far in 70+ degree, high humidity weather and cannot complain. Much cooler then my other lightweight hiking socks (Smartwool & Fox River) and what little sweat builds up wicks away super quick once I am out of my boots. Only complaint so far is the discoloration of the bottoms that my Keen boots left on one pair of them. This does not seem to affect the function, just uglyfying the bottom of the sock.

Great Socks

For context, my previous socks were the SmartWool light hiking socks. These fit much better, are cooler (temp wise), and delete the fabric above the boot that I always tough was worthless. 72 hours in these socks, and they looked and felt like they did when I first put them on.
