With its soft, naturally odor-resistant 17.5-micron Merino wool knit and \275 neck zip, the Stoic Women's Merino Bliss Lightweight Top covers you in functional comfort, minus the synthetic funk factor. We made this next-to-skin top with ridiculously comfortable New Zealand Merino, rub-reducing flat-locked seams and side panels, and a body-heat venting \275 chest zip so you can blow off some steam after a mean summit push or a tricky boulder problem. Merino wool transfers moisture while your sweat is in its primary vapor form, so unlike most synthetic fabrics the Merino Bliss Top begins to pull moisture away from your body before your shirt becomes saturated. And since wet usually means cold in the backcountry, warm Merino is the way to go. Stash your lip balm, energy gel, or other small items in the Bliss Top's zippered chest pocket for safe keeping while you're on the go. A reflective logo hit on the Merino Bliss Top's collar ensures a little more safety during your evening runs, and the thumbholes at the cuffs take the bunch out of layering.

Love this shirt. Soft, warm, looks great. But with all the rave about it, let me not repeat what others said. I do have 1 suggested modification. The thumb holes are too big. Other merino brands like Icebreaker or Ibex all have thumb holes on some styles, but take a look at them, they are small, stretchy holes. On the other hand, the holes on these are two huge 2 square inch gaps dangling at your wrist. When it's windy out, they leak cold air into the sleeves.
Ordering colours seems confusing on this site. The drop-down menu in the shopping cart only has purple/cream listed. But the drop-down menu on the product page has 3 colour options - NOT purple. Can you clarify this for me please?
I've just realised the problem - the menu list in the Wishlist is different to the menu list in the Shopping Cart. These two are incompatible, so I'll assume the Shopping Cart is accurate.

Perfect fit, got a S and i am 5,2 110 lbs, love the color Ceramic/Chartreuse. Like the zipper longer from the previous model, 1/4 zip is fine as well. Feels good and keeps me warm.
How does the weight of this compare to either Icebreaker or Smartwool? Is 17.5 microns closer to 150 or 200 weight Icebreaker pieces? OR comparing it to Smartwool, would it be more like their microweight tops, or the lightweight ones? Or is it even heavier than those? Thanks.
The micron width of the merino fibers does not have much to do with the overall weight of the garment. The finer the fiber, the softer the fabric will be.

We recommend using Nikwax Wool Wash to machine or hand-wash Stoic Merino garments. Hang to dry - do not machine dry. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Do not dry clean.

3 days of skiing in Breckenridge and didn't need another shirt. Wore this the whole time, didnt stink either. It was great. Also, I was warm enough with just this and my shell (got down to the teens at one point)
My wife really likes this shirt. This baselayer keeps you warm without overheating and has all the nice qualities of Merino Wool. Lightweight material wicks moisture and has a soft feel to it. Has a thumbhole and she loves that feature.
The only issue I have had is the color faded faster than it should have.
I love the shirt, but the tag was a little itchy, so I cut it out. Now it's time to wash it and I don't know how! Does anyone still have the care instructions? Thanks!
hah! I did the same thing last week! I can still remember mine because I just washed it. Wash in cold, don't bleach. don't iron. hang dry. I washed mine with like colors in warm water and it seemed to do well.
I have the short sleeve version of this as well and both are really comfortable and stood up to me wearing them over and over during a climbing trip. The thumb holes are nice b/c they don't pull the on the sleeves if you want to keep your hands a little more covered, unlike other shirts where the sleeves tend to be too short for this. Stoic is probably my new favorite brand for merino because of this shirt.
I love this shirt. Though I am a mountain climber, I doubt it will leave the house because I live in it at home. It is lightweight, so if you want merino wool for chilly outings, this shirt may not do it. I often wear an x-small, but after reading the reviews decided to purchase the size small (5'2.5" tall, 112 lbs, 36C). It fits perfectly, I like the extra length in the back, the pocket does not stick out like others had written and the thumb hole length and size is perfect for me.
In addition to the merino wool qualities: wicks moisture, regulates temperature, and does not retain odor; I got the eggplant color and it is absolutely beautiful.
This is a great shirt, it fits really true to the sizing chart. I love the thumb holes, I don't think they are too large, as stated in some reviews. I find that if the thumb holes are too small, they dig into the skin between my thumb and the rest of my hand and it can become painful. I also love the high collar on the shirt for those colder days. The fabric is very light weight, about the same thickness as a regular cotton t-shirt.
After returning the first shirt received (size medium was just a little too snug), I have been very happy with the result. The merino wool makes a great first layer for skiing or running and is not itchy. The side pocket is perfect for storing keys or cell phone. I love the color chosen (kind of a periwinkle blue with strips of aqua).
LOVE THIS SHIRT! The wool is super soft and the fit is great. I am 5'4'' 130 and the small is perfect. It is nice enough that it can dress up some jeans but it also is a great for hiking and a skiing base layer
Super warm, even in extremely cold conditions. Dries quickly. Arm and body length are perfect. Thumb holes are perfectly placed/sized. Purple/cream is a really pretty color. I am a 34D with a 26" waist and I bought a small. It fits superbly.
Got two of these on SAC for my wife and she loves it and can't climb w/o anymore. The fit is really nice and true to size. The colors are awesome too (brown and purple) and it has a pocket (sweet she doesn't have an excuse for me to hold on to her id/cards.
I absolutely love this shirt for hiking and backpacking in any weather, It's the one I choose first, when I go to my closet. I bought the bright blue and white, and I get a lot of compliments on the colors. I never thought I could wear wool until I discovered merino wool, and I'm always checking Backcountry for a good deal.
I've never had a merino shirt before, so I was stoked when my husband got me this for Christmas! So far I've worn it a lot - snowshoeing, hiking, and running. It's a great baselayer. I can wear it with just a softshell jacket over the top and stay very comfortable when running even when the temps are in the teens.
I usually wear medium, and the Stoic medium fits great - a nice athletic fit and not baggy. I like that the length is long enough so it doesn't let the cold air in and stays tucked in if I want it to. The thumb holes are nice. The sleeves are *almost* too short for me when I'm using the thumb holes, but I guess I have long arms. I'm gonna be getting a lot of good use out of this shirt for sure!
Oh, one more thing . . . the description mentions a zippered chest pocket, but the womens' version doesn't have a chest pocket. It has a side pocket on the left side. You can see it in the pictures.
By the Stoic sizing chart, I'm a large at the bust and a small at the waist. Bought a medium, and it fits perfectly: no gapping at the waist, no weird stretching at the high neck, good length, all around just a great shirt. I've worn it at least once a week since I bought it, and it washes up well and hasn't pilled yet. Definitely worth the price.
I love these shirts! I have two Stoic Bliss shirts and one Stoic crew shirt. The wool is soft, finely woven, and the styling is superb. I am just over 5'8" with an athletic build from running and lifting weights; as a result I often have a hard time finding shirts that fit my shoulders and are long enough for my arms without billowing around the middle. The Stoic medium is a very slim, but attractive fit for me. I've used it for winter running and early spring hiking. The temperature regulation and wicking is superior, and there is none of the nasty funk that accompanies typical "performance" wear. I'm totally sold on merino wool gear, and I love the bonus of the very attractive styling of these shirts.
i LOVE this shirt! it is perfect by itself for cool-weather activities, and as a layer for winter stuff. it's super-comfortable and soft, and does everything a merino shirt should. and it's cute. i'm 5'6" 125lb and small is perfect. i love it.
except for one thing-- the little side pocket zipper puckers outwardly when I wear it, so the side of my torso appears really happy to see you. This is my only complaint about this shirt and it's a pretty small one. A misplaced zipper boner is a small price to pay to be so comfortable and cozy in such a thin, lightweight layer.
this shirt was totally worth the price. It's warm, durable, and looks great. I got it in extra small, and it's a little tighter than I like, so I would suggest maybe getting a size up. Also I got the brown/jade, and the green was a little brighter than I expected; if I bought another I would definitely get a solid color.
I dig the dudes version of this soft piece, but the gals in the office at Verde PR are all about the merino bliss. And, the March/April issue of SKI mag says the piece keeps you "dry, warm and apres-ready." Take a peek: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4030/4402472686_65b859e149_o.jpg
Looks nice and smells nice even after lots of days in it. It's way more flattering than the picture shows it to be. The thumb holes are big enough that they don't cut off your circulation, and of course they keep your hands warm!
It's an awesome shirt, highly recommend the purple color, very nice. It's fitted, so if you don't like shirts hugging you, order a size up. I love the thumb holes, but the sleeves are a little too long for me.
This top fits me well and I'm a difficult fit: 5'10", broad shoulders, long arms, narrow waist & hips. It's a snug fit & stretchy. It's very thin but held heat as well as my standard weight polypro tops. I like the thumb loops. I hope it doesn't shrink after being washed & dried. I;m prepared to buy a 2nd one.
I gave this to my wife and she loves it. She wears it as a base layer in the backcountry and for snowboarding. The sleeves are long and the thumb loop keeps them from bunching under coats. Plus, it is nice and form fitting so she looks hot in it.
This is an excellent baselayer - right up there with the nicest Merino wool pieces I've seen. This one for the wife and the men's shirt for me. She was shocked that it was wool - the shirt is pretty thin but will make a perfect base layer yet looks nice enough to wear on its own.
Merino is indeed everything people say that it is. Stoic did a nice job with this lightweight top, and one could say it is bliss. This top is definitely lightweight, and is just as nice in quality as SmartWool or Icebreaker. The sizing is pretty normal, though the arms are on the long side, which is much better than too short and riding up. The top looks nice on it's own. My only complaint is that the zipper is a bit on the the stiff side.
