Bone-chilling cold and whipping winds can turn your cheeks black in a heartbeat, so reach for the Stoic Merino Balaclava and protect your face from the elements. Soft, breathable merino helps limit your exposure to the elements and retains warmth without leaving you feeling stifled underneath. A close-to-skin fit and ergonomic design means maximum warmth without loss of mobility or peripheral vision when you're wearing goggles or a helmet.

Bottom Line: Worn by actual mountain ninjas ... we think.

Nice and Warm

This piece of gear is great for those cold days! It can fit under your helmet and keeps your face nice and warm when you are hauling ass through snow and wind. You can use it as a neck gaitor as well. Also the best part is its merino! Boom, can't beat that!

Great for helmets...

We ride snowmobiles and balaclava is a must. This one is great under the helmet. Comfortable and warm. A bit loose around the face but with a helmet on its perfect.

I don't wear this particular one, but I have a cheap store brand one. It's better than a beanie because if your ears and head get too hot you can just flip it back and you don't have to carry it

sized big

This is cut large, quite loose on my head and stretchy. This wouldn't work very well on someone with a smaller head (I'd say I'm medium sized). I've got another balaclava made of synthetic that is a much more snug fit, which provides a different feel. I haven't washed it yet but I may see if it'll shrink a bit.

Soft merino wool.

My .02...a buff is better for running. I wear a cap or light fleece hat. The buff can go over your whole head, use as a neck gaiter, can bring it up over your mouth/nose if you are breathing very cold air, headband if its not that cold, etc.

Incredible

I was looking for something warm and thin to wear under my helmet. This thing is the best answer to my needs. It rules. Fit smoothly under my helmet, due to the ergonomic stitch patterns. In addition it was stretchy, like other Stoic Merino wool items I've had. My head is pretty big (7 3/4 hat size) and this didn't make me claustrophobic at all.

If you are looking for a natural fiber balaclava, this is it. Personally I think Merino Wool is far superior to poly blends for a number of reasons and Stoic does it right!
