Description

Lose the sleeves and welcome the core warmth.

This season, Stoic expanded its women's line with the Luft 60 Vest, an ideal solution to keep your core warm while you're backcountry skiing in the winter or hiking in the fall. Low-bulk synthetic insulation compresses easily to make the Luft easy to stash in a pack, and this vest feels nice and light so you'll hardly notice any extra weight on your back. Sometimes sleeves are overkill, even in cold weather, and that's when this layering piece shines.

  • Polartec Wind Pro side panels block cold wind from stealing away your body heat
  • 60-gram Cirrus synthetic insulation provides ample warmth, maintains its insulating properties even when wet, and compresses easily
  • Pertex Quantum lining breathes away excess moisture so you feel comfortable even if you're working up a sweat
  • 3-D Ergonomic Construction offers a fit that's close, while still allowing room for light layers underneath
  • Backcountry.com is the exclusive US distributor for Stoic products

Warm, lightweight vest for kicking around town or hiking/camping! Very low bulk, which is nice when you're already fairly bulky (5'10", 160lbs). Toasty for its size. Two outer zippered hand-warmer pockets, and a zippered inside chest pocket. There's also an internal drawstring to adjust the fit, which I haven't had to use as it's already a slim fit. Nice long length, too. Yes, the armholes are small: they are bound with elastic, though, so they have some give. I notice the armholes when I put the vest on, then forget about them. And the upside of those snug armholes is, no gaping to let the wind in! If you have super-beefy arms the fit might not work for you, but if you have muscular arms (or skinny arms) I bet you won't notice. I don't even mind the pink trim on the zipper, that's how much I love this vest.

Finally, a nicely insulated vest that doesn't make you look huge. It's slim fitting, with stretch along the sides eliminating the bulk factor. I'm 5'7 118lb and the small fits awesome. Definitely size up if you'll be wearing base layers or something thicker underneath it.

I gave this vest to my mom for christmas. She liked the color and weight, but it was a bit small.

Super cute vest, great color, great material, but super tiny armpit holes. I'm keeping it because I really like it, but it's useless with anything other than a thin shirt underneath.

I love this vest! It is a great layering piece. It is practical and stylish- I wear it to snow shoe and XC ski but also to go out and about in . It is warm but incredibly thin and I have not overheated in it yet, which is something that happens commonly with me when doing my winter sports. I am 5'6" and 128 lbs so ordered a small. I read about the small armholes but my arms are pretty small so I wasn't too worried. Though snug at first, as I've worn it, the arm holes have relaxed quite a bit and now I don't even feel that they are snug in the least. With back country's return policy there's no reason not to wear the vest and see if they relax adequately if the armholes seem snug at first.

You would definitely want to go with the size XS.

I really liked this vest - it was lightweight and would make a great layering piece. The material was nice and the colors were vibrant. I am 5'4", 123 lbs and usually a size small or 4. I ordered the small in this and it fit everywhere except for the arm holes, as another reviewer noted previously. I don't have paticularly large or muscular arms - I think they're pretty average size. I think a smaller person who normally wears an XS would have no trouble with the arms in the size S vest, but then the vest might be too large elsewhere. Ultimately I returned mine.

I was really needing a baselayer to add to my ski layering system, and I liked the idea of a vest. Everything about this vest was great, it's very thin but warm. The fit is really flattering and the inner material is very soft and quilted. But for me, there was one huge flaw....the armholes are TINY, as in - uncomfortably restricting moment -tiny.

I am 5'3" and 120lbs, I tried the size small and the arm holes were just too small. (I am not jacked or particularly built by ANY means). I wanted this vest so badly I returned it and bought the Medium, but it was simply too baggy/long to work, so it was also returned.
Sad Panda.

If possible, I highly suggest buying two sizes and returning the size that doesn't work out!

i prefer a tighter fit to my body with vests but this would be a layering peice with my base layers. that said, im 5Ft4 1/2 125 lbs...normal arms. from your med and small purchases, would you say a med would still be too big on me?

The Medium probably hit me about 7-8 inches below my navel. I really didn't like the baggier and longer fit of the Medium when compared with the Small. I suggest actually ordering both sizes, tell the rep "Lexi sent me" and we can provide you with a free return label so you can send back the size that doesn't work, or both, if it tragically didn't work at all! Good luck!

I am not a vest person but I thought I would use this for my trip to Ireland for core insulation under my rain jacket. did't want to bring anything bulky and this is def. not. It was great. Light layer, synthetic insulation, so I did not need to worry about down collapsing if my jacket wasn't breathable enough, which has happened in the past with some of my down insulation pieces. It has a DWR coating so I could even wear without the rain jacket in a light drizzle and not get wet. It has Polartec Power stretch side panels which help with the fit - no feelings of being restricted. Overall I am pleased!
