Ultimate, heavenly warmth is the way of the world for the Stoic Women's Hadron Down FS Cardigan. This insulator jacket is lightweight and packable enough for backpacking or ski touring, and when cold weather rolls in, its down insulation has no equal. Stoic shaped this jacket specifically for the ladies, giving it a little more room in the chest and a tapered fit that's movement-friendly and focused on maximum comfort.

  • Pertex Quantum shell breathes away excess heat and moisture so you feel comfortable, not stifled, while you work up a sweat
  • Down insulation offers superior warmth over synthetic insulation, and it's extremely lightweight and highly packable
  • 3-D Ergonomic Construction gives this jacket an active, athletic fit that won't ride up or expose your skin to the cold, with particular attention paid to range of motion of the arms and chest
  • Wrist gaiters are elasticized so they seal around your wrist comfortably and keep drafts out of the sleeves
  • Kangaroo pocket gives you a place to tuck your hands without fumbling around with zippers
  • Buttons simplify the front closure and help to keep weight lower than a zippered alternative
  • Pack this jacket into the pocket in order to make an alpine pillow when you're cold-weather camping

Gets the job done

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered a size up because I read it runs small, and in fact it does. The medium fits snugly, but not suffocating. I'm relatively small - 5'4, 120 lbs and I can fit a couple base layers under it comfortably. It also fits well under my snowboarding jacket, which is just a shell. It's super light and can be stuffed into a bag or medium size purse (perfect if you want to wear it to a bar or somewhere that you don't feel like holding it).

It's very warm. I haven't actually gotten to wear it snowboarding, but I work outside in the field and when it's coupled with my snowboarding jacket, it keeps me warm on the coldest of days (tested it down to 15 degrees, haven't had the opportunity to test it on colder days).

The inside zipper pocket is a really nice feature - great for easy access to keys, cards, etc (might too small for some larger phones). As another review mentioned, the wrist guards are kind of annoying since their so tight and i like to pull my hands inside the sleeves sometimes. But definitely not a huge factor. Great overall jacket, just buy a size up.

Love this jacket

I love this jacket. I initially ordered a small, which fit, but if you think you'll ever layer, you'll want to order up a size. I returned it and ordered a medium so I could layer. The medium fits great, and has pretty long arms, which is fine with me for cold days that I want to pull the arms over my hands. The jacket is incredibly lightweight and still manages to keep me extremely warm. I don't think I've ever been cold while wearing it. The colors are cool and I don't mind the snaps. I thought it might be slightly annoying to not have a zipper. I do sorta wish the wrist guard/elastic was done a bit nicer. The elastic is pretty tight and can be annoying. But, it keeps the cold air out!

small and breezy... but cozy warm!

  • Fit: Runs small

I'm 5'4 and 125lbs, bought a medium knowing Stoic seems to run small on size. Fits great, there is room enough for a base layer, and it's not too bulky for a shell overtop. The wrist cuffs are super tight, and I have small wrists, but it's great to keep the snow out and the heat in! My only complaint, the snaps have a slight draft and don't keep the heat in completely when worn without an outer layer. For the price, it's a great piece though!

love the design

I love the snaps on this jacket and the stretchy wrist bands. The cuffs are awesome for keeping the cold/snow out of the sleeves. This jacket is so soft and comfy and the color is cooler in person, not as bright and shiny, but a more muted fuchsia color.

Love it!!!!

  • Fit: True to size

I love, love, LOVE this jacket! I hate bulk but need to stay warm in the Utah winter, this jacket is PERFECT! It's SO light you'd never expect it to keep you so warm. Sizing was just right. I'm 5'8" with broad shoulders and a 36D bust and I bought the Large. Couldn't ask for a better fit! I love the long arm sleeves with the elastic cuff too!

I just received the small and it is too small. But it is soooo light - that it felt like there was nothing in the package. It is gorgeous! But I obviously didn't understand the other reviews re: size.

I wear a 34 bra, wear a size 2 pants and a 6 dress because I am broad shouldered. But small was too small. Well I just ordered the medium. Can't wait to get it taking to Alaska!

    Great jacket

I found the size to be right on target. Jacket is incredibly light weight and compacts into a small packet. I've been using it for hiking, running in single digit weather, and snow shoeing and it is perfect. Enough room so I can layer under it for extreme temps. Easy to open snaps as needed so I don't overheat. Terrific for blocking wind.

Runs Small, but a great packable jacket

I'm 5'8" with a 36C bust, bought the XL thinking it would give me extra room, and I just can't button this thing all the way. I'm keeping anyway because i love the sleeve length and the elastic at the end of the sleeves, it's extremely lightweight and packable, and it's adorable. It's kind of out of proportion because the sleeves are long and big with lots of room, but the body is tight. I've worn it skiing as a mid-layer and hiking on the descent and it kept me warm while others were cold.
