I used lightweight silk as a base, then this, because silk has a better feel but transmits moisture well. I also had a smartwool mid base layer as an alternate. Both performed well - wicked the moisture out and comfortable whether as a top layer in mild conditions or under an insulating layer and/or windbreaker. No stink after multi-day use, and washed and dried fine. If used as outer layer, I did notice some pilling around the armpits because of the pack straps (Osprey Aether 85, which has pretty rough material). I'd say this is a good, and cheaper, alternative to wool. The neck was loose, but that was good for me, as it vented heat/moisture.
Really like!

I really like this material as a heavier base under a shell or by itself on not so cold or windy days. I've read that some other reviewers do not think this material breaths or wicks moisture well but I find that it does both. My only dislike about this product is the extremely long arms, I have a stocky build and thick neck and a L fits me really good but the arms are really, really loonnngggg. This is one of the Stoic pieces that if definetly cut for the tall, skinny, long limb type; if the arms were a bit shorter I would have given it 5 stars.

Not as thin as I thought they would be. Much more substantial. Bought as Xmas gifts. I'm told they are very warm and allow for great mobility. Soft and comfortable to wear.

I use this stuff for snowboarding, I wore it on a bluebird day with temps between 30 and 35. I was clammier than I'd like to be in this stuff. I don't think it wicks moisture that well, and it doesn't breathe that well either, so you don't evaporate as much as with other tech fabrics. It's still a lot better than cotton, and it's definitely warmer than any of my other baselayers. But I think this is going to be my emergency set, and only make the starting lineup if it's 20 degrees and storming.

The Good
Really stretchy and provides good warmth as base layer or as straight-up winter-outside exercise shirt.
The Bad
The collar reminds of shriveled up bacon. I don't know if I got a stretched out one, but its really buggin me. Also, this shirt really shows off what you have got going on underneath, but I guess we should also recognize that this shirt is meant to provide that athletic fit. So if you're self-conscious about curves and such then I'd size up from what you normally would pick.
I got the Dune/Paprika - M and just an FYI the shirt is more brown than the picture depicts.
Nice look, but odd feel

The main concern, as mentioned at least once previously, is that this shirt feels distinctly like neoprene. Acceptable in my case since I can use it for canyoneering. However, not something I would desire in a normal hiking shirt. Too stiff and not enough breatheability.
A small is somewhat snug on me - 5'11", 150lbs.
Wicks water, comfy, and keeps me warm!

Perfect midlayer for just about anything! Been using for skinning around under a shell, packs well, and perfect amount of warmth while skinning up and skiing down.

this is a great bottom layer for cold weather... form fitting and pretty stylish too. only complaint is that it was almost too warm for me when skiing in mid-30s temps so plan on this being for the cold days. definitely too warm for relaxing in the bar right after skiing!
Great shirt for a great price

I love this shirt, got two and I prever these for my everyday tasks. They keep me warm and cool accordingly. They look pretty cool too. Large fits great on me (5'8" 220 lbs. stocky build)
I own 3 now

I'm 6'4" 210, with bird legs and a 6'6" wingspan and I am continually without long sleeve pullovers that reach my wrist. The XL in this thing gets there nicely. The cut is trim, but not tight, and I hadn't noticed the seams at all. The inside is super soft, warm, and works great for me for a second layer outside in the cold, or against the skin any other time. It breaths pretty well too.
Great shirt for the $$

I took this out snowboarding as a top layer, with two layers under it. Those layers were the Fox First Layer as a base, a stoic micro wool shirt as #2, then this as #3. The temps were about 20º to 35º throughout the day. With just a thin eVent jacket (from westcomb) on top, I was warm all day. I will definitely buy another. Sizing is spot on... not too tight and not too loose. I am about 5' 6" & 165lbs -- I wear a medium in most things. The medium on this is perfect. The blue/white looks great. Get it on SAC and you won't regret! I'd buy another on backcountry for $40, just 'cause I liked it that much.
Seams.

Have only worn this inside but was uncomfortable enough to not recommend. The shirt itself feels very warm - just putting it on felt immediately like an oven - but the seams, oh the seams. Sure they make the shirt look "cool" and "Stoic-y" but because they're, how do I put it, not flush with the shirt, the seams make the shirt absolutely uncomfortable. The feeling is as if something foreign is inside the sleeves constantly rubbing distractingly against me.
And for sizing, I'm 6'2", usually a medium (skinny) and got a medium but the sleeves are long even for me (and I have long arms).
Unfortunately the sleeves are extremely long

Positives:
-Good stretch in the material
-Fuzzy inside should help with warmth rating
Big negative:
-Sleeves are way too long for the vast majority of people; either designed for a small niche of customers or a mistake...longer than other shirts that come with thumb holes so either your hands are totally covered by the sleeves or there is lots of excess material when rolling it up; bought it with discount so not economical to return and exchange unfortunately
Only one small issue

The only issue I have is that this is a stretchy material, but for the men's cuts (at least in large) it doesn't taper in below the chest, giving someone with an athletic build a bad silhouette. E.g. look at how it hangs loose below the shoulder blades in this photo:
http://www.backcountry.com/images/items/detail_large/SIC/SIC0115/MD_D4.jpg
That being said, this shirt is:
1) super comfortable.
2) has long enough sleeves for those of us with lanky builds
3) keeps you warm when it's cold, keeps you cool when it's warm.
4) Is quite durable.

this shirt is kinda weird, it kinda feels like neoprene, but breathable. Definitely a good shirt for layering, breaths well, and drys quickly, and adds lots of warmth.
Good Shirt

Well, I haven't used this in and extensive manner so far, but it's served me great in everyday activities. Wicks sweat well, and will keep me warm in moderately cold weather. It's not as tight as I'd like (I got a small, and there's still some room, but I'm a stick) and the turtle-neck part could be a little snugger.
But overall, those complaints are minor and this is a great shirt for all around base-layer warmth.
note: red color is more of a burgundy than bright red.

This shirt is amazing. Not only does it breathe like a charm, it also keeps you cozy when the temperature drops.
Some people say synthetics smell, but I just wore it for four days straight on a climbing trip in Joshua Tree, and this shirt is just about the only piece of gear I have that doesn't smell like death.
This shirt is:
Stretchy
Comfortable
Breathable
Warm
Orange (very important)
Soft
Durable
Lightweight

One thing about the shirt: the sleeves are pretty long. I have a small and I can pull the sleeves about half way down my hands.
