I am a huge Stoic fan and a jacket whore. I've been looking for a lightweight windbreaker fleece jacket with a hood to where in slot canyons when it is chilly out. I love the small non-helmet compatible hood and how it fits around my face when it's zipped all the way up to keep the wind out. I am pretty pissed off at Stoic for going away from the awesome bight colors that made me fall in love with them in the first place and now they have ugly colors, but I guess the Midnight/Agave is ok since the jacket will be getting dirty and beat up.

pro's:
Athletic fit
Windproof
fleece
small hood

Con's:
Ugly colors

I am 6'3", ~185lbs and the L was a great fit for me. The arms are long and the cut is slim, but it works very well. I got the Paprika/Midnight one and the color is sharp. I will typically run in this on brisk mornings and no issues with warmth and the added visibility doesn?t hurt. No problems with seams or pilling as noted by others but I have only had for a month or so. I am a big fan of this gear, and will consider buying another one.

I'm 6'1" (184cm) tall and weigh 178lb (81kg). Athletic, lean build. Ordered both the medium and large of this jacket. Returned the medium and kept the large. The medium felt a tiny bit constricted around my chest; additionally, the medium jacket length was a little too short for my torso because it barely reached my waistline and wrists. On the other hand, the large fit perfectly, both in length and girth. It also leaves just enough room to layer a down sweater beneath the jacket.

Weighed them both at home:
Medium jacket - 480g (17oz)
Large jacket - 504g (17.8oz)

I wonder what the fleece weight it is, similar to polartec 100 or 200 ?
(I know that it might be an improper comparison, but I still want to get an idea how warm it is in a "no wind"environment)

I am looking for a fleece thermo jacket. As a 55kg/171cm male, a XS patagonia R2/3 jacket seems a good choice. But the Thermo Pro is just too wind-penetrated. So if I use this Breaker jacket along with a baselayer (no outer shell), is it enough for 50~60F days?

I am a female and have one of these fleeces, have bought one for my father and brother. My father is 5 foot 8 , 145 pounds, wears a medium and uses it just around town and such. My brother is 5 foot 8 , 155, wears a large, he uses it as a mid layer under his stoic shell for snowboarding. I havne't had any issues with the seams on mine nor have my brother, so far wear has been good, has a nice fit and is very warm

I have been using this jacket for a few months now and was very happy in the beginning - it keeps you warm and is very thin and snug. However the outer seams started fraying, still performs well but doesn't look good at all

I gave this as a gift and it was loved! Very comfortable. Can be used for outdoor activities or just to hang around town in. Nice jacket.

I love the breaker fleece and so does everyone I give it to. The Polartec fabric is great - looks good, warm, flexes and is very comfortable. The guys in my life who have received this jacket from me range from intense athletes to VCs - and they all love it. It's good for cruising around town or running/skiing. As a Giants fan I especially appreciate the black/paprika color ;o)

Yeah, I keep losing them. But this is a sweet freakin' fleece. Warm and toasty, looks good (well the ones I buy do. Some of the colors are, umm...BC, you need to hire a designer that's not color blind). Some guy below recommended this garment for dirty sanchez outings. Not sure I agree that this is the best outerwear for that activity. I prefer to use it as a layer under a shell while skiing.

After owning this fleece for a week I started noticing the seams freying apart. I thought it was no big deal. I took it snow boarding and used it under my shell. That night I noticed that all up and down the arms the seems were falling apart. This fleece keeps you warm, but does not stand up to any kind of real use.

I am having the same problem. Had it for maybe a month and one of the seams on the sleeve is coming unstitched very rapidly. I am very disappointed.

I am 6'0 and had to return the XL as it was more than a little short. Could use another 2 inches. The XXL fits a bit baggy but for me its more of a casual outer layer so I don't mind. Its so soft and comfy, and is definitely wind proof. Can't go wrong.

I don't think this piece is going to hold up for more than a season. The seams on the sleeves and around the pockets are pilling and deteriorating at a rapid pace. Besides looking like shit I think they will begin to come apart here soon. The rest of the jacket is great. Awesome material and warmth. No way is it worth anything over the $75. Then, thank god for backcountry's return policy when you will be returning it.
*Edit* So it is March 12th and the seam on the left arm is opening up. That was 3 months of periodic wearing and this thing has failed. I am bummed because everything else about the jacket was awesome. It is going to get returned here very soon.
*Edit to the edit* I just returned it and as always Backcountry's customer service kicks ass. This is my favorite place to purchase gear.

I actually really love this fleece. The polartec windpro is a winner in my book. I wear this around town a lot but it is also absolutely perfect for cold days skinning up hill through the trees where there's just enough wind where a normal fleece layer would be too chilly but not enough to justify throwing the shell on yet.

The only two complaints I have about this fleece are (1) I've only had this jacket about a month but the cuff seam is already fraying and coming loose and (2) it's cut a tad on the short side (for me) reminds me of the way most Arc'teryx jackets are cut.

Needless to say none of the two above complaints keeps me from wearing this jacket almost every day. I'll just be interested to see how long the cuff seam lasts.

Did you mean the sleeves are short, the front is short or the back is short? Or all three?

I got this hoping it would live up the hype...and it did...until the entire cuff came undone. This happened after maybe the third time I wore it using it casually from point a to point b around town. Honestly I've never had something fail so quickly EVER, let alone on a garment that's recommended for backpacking and alpine skiing. It's warm, sure, but good luck making it last.

This sweatshirt does it all. 5/11 165 lbs got large to have a relaxed fit. It's slim. Love it, wear if all the time, nice long sleeves, semi wind resistant, well cut hood, excellent zipper.
