The Stoic Women’s Bombshell Insulated Jacket thrives in the worst conditions Mother Nature can muster. The slightly stretchy, fully welded Bombshell 3.0 fabric weathers any storm and the ergonomic fit offers un-restricted movement. 100-Grams of lightweight, synthetic Cirrus insulation fights off the pre-dawn chills, while the slightly stretchy Bombshell fabric shuns external moisture and wind. Fully-welded seams increase the Bombshell’s breathability over standard taped-seam shells and the 3-D ergonomic fit offers un-inhibited mobility. Thumb-holed wrist gaiters and a fully adjustable hood seal you off from the elements, while mesh-backed underarm zips vent heat when you’re stomping a skin track. Stash your MP3 player in the Bombshell Insulated’s interior chest pocket and give your day a soundtrack. Stoic’s 3-D ergonomic fit offers un-inhibited mobility without drowning you in excess fabric—if you tend to like a roomier fit, size up.

Bottom Line: Lofted winter armor for the deepest days.
I just wore my Bombshell Insulated Jacket for the first time this season and was STOKED. Twenty five degrees and snowing, this jacket kept me super warm and the fit is perfect. I'm tall (5'11") so I was concerned that a medium wouldn't be large enough but it was perfect. Everything about this jacket is just right; the weight, the sleeve length, the cut, the hood. I was pleasantly surprised about the hood....the fabric of the jacket is stiff enough that all the parts stay in place. The hood stays 100% out of your vision and stays on and in place. The thumb holed wrist gaiters are great and add to the warmth and comfort of the jacket. If you are looking for a good ski jacket for cold and stormy resort days, this is the one to get. Hands down.
What is the difference between this coat and the non-insulated version? Is it just insulation or are there less pockets? Different fit? I do not want insulation but it is hard to get an idea about the non-insulated one because there are no reviews yet! Any advice would be helpful thanks :)

Got this off S&C for a steal so I thought I'd give it at try. I'm 5'6", 115 lbs and usually wear a small. I went up to Medium on this so I'd have some room to layer under it. Was glad that I went bigger because it was pretty fitted. I didn't love the cut of the coat. It's really tapered in the waist and then shoots out at the hip. When I cinched the drawstrings it made it look a little better. Would probably be great on someone with more curves than I've got! It's definitely NOT boxy. I had to send it back because the sleeves weren't long enough... a common problem I have. I LOVED the inside liner material. Super smooth and soft. The coat is quality and well made. Also, I would have preferred if the hood was removable, but it seems like it hangs pretty tight to the coat so it won't be filling with snow if you choose not to wear it.
My measurements are bust:42, waist:38, hips:46 and the XL fits very well. 5'7" 185lb, sleeve length about 30 inches from back of neck to wrist. Was worried that it wouldn't fit due to the other reviews saying it runs small but it is perfect.
I got this jacket for Christmas and took it out skiing a week later. I love the way it looks and feels, the inside is very soft. It fits snugly. I am 5'6.5'', 125lbs, and normally get a small in jackets. I went with a medium and it fits well. I could put a fleece on under it if needed, but I was comfortable with just a base later and t-shirt on underneath for a day on the mountain at temps just at or barely above freezing. This jacket stops the wind and cold. When the hood is up it keeps your neck and ears warm as well. It does flare at the hip, but the pull adjusters do help. Sleeve length is perfect, I like the amount of pockets, zippers are water-proof and the whole jacket sheds water well. The light blue color is a bit more vivid than in the online pictures. This jacket is also my all around snow jacket so my only complaint is that the jacket is a tad bit short for rough housing in snow. The powder skirt can be snapped down, but I wish it sat lower naturally. I do have a long torso though, so that's probably part of the reason. Otherwise, great jacket!
I don't know what I love more: skiing or this coat!! Well I guess skiing but this coat takes a very close 2nd. This is the warmest coat out there for how thin it is and has such a flattering fit. The hood is perfect and the color (pink) adorable!
Love this jacket - just the right amount of insulation to wear a thin sweater under or not. Feels good. Usually wear a large - needed XL in this. Could benefit from another interior pocket. The pink is a little bright - could tone it and the aqua down a bit - seems somewhat adolescent. Difficult (read impossible) to put hood over helmet when jacket zipped up.
I ordered this jacket to ski in on warmer days. I usually wear a size 8 in ski wear and I ordered a Medium and it was too tight. The sleeves were too tight on my arms and the underarm zippers hurt my armpits. The fabric was a bit noisy for me, too. I loved the look of the jacket and the pink color, though. I ended up returning the jacket and getting the Burton AK Glacier soft shell in blue instead and loved it!
I really liked this jacket when I got it a few weeks ago. The construction looked great! The features were just what I would want. The hood actually fit over my helmet!! The details were nice and understated. I am however returning this jacket because I don't have the hips to fill the jacket out. Even with baggy ski pants on it flares out like a bell bottom jacket. The snow cuffs on the arms were a bit tight for my comfort as well. I have other Stoic items that I love but this one was just not for me.
I love this coat, I hate the pink color. This coat was warm, light weight, great for Utah skiing and snowshoeing on cold days. The downside was it was much pinker than anticipated and my sister has started calling me "outdoor Barbie", which is probably an appropriate description of this jacket.
I had high hopes for this jacket and I was not disappointed. The outer material is a little stiff but not noisy or crinkly (like the Arc'Teryx hard shells). The liner is very nice. The wrist gaiters are great, but the thumb holes are a little tight around my thumbs. I alpine ski at one of the coldest and windiest mountains in the north east and I was just fine this weekend wearing the jacket with a simple down vest underneath. (8 degrees and windy) Hood fits easily over my helmet. Got lots of compliments and "ohhh, where did you get it?" I found the arms to be a bit short and had to order up one size -- body is slightly too big now, but fine with layering.
This seems like a great jacket although I haven't put it to the test and taken it up on the mountain yet. (Just rain and it seemed plenty waterproof). I like that it's an insulated jacket but the fit is very sleek and you don't look like the Michelin Man wearing it. The pow skirt is removable - hooray! Plenty of pockets and zippers are all sealed. The welded seams look great and very sturdy. I've seen taped seams (over time) blow out the fabric on the tape line and this looks like much a tougher construction. I plan to use this snowboarding - even though it's not listed on the 'recommended uses' it looks like it will fit the bill.
I love how this jacket looks sleek and techy, but it also has a lot of insulation inside. I wore it on a cold, windy ski tour, and the insulation was a godsend. The outer shell fabric is soft, and the fabric colors are all pretty and bold. (I dig the contrasting zippers and seams.) But definitely, my favorite thing about the jacket is how warm it is, without being overly puffy. And since the insulation is synthetic, it works extremely well in wet and stormy conditions. Definitely a thumbs-up on this jacket.
this is a very versatile in bounds ski jacket. It can pretty much handle whatever mother nature throws your way. One major plus in my book is that it says insulated but doesn't have that awful bulky feel that some comparable jackets have. It has a ton of bells and whistles but the big plus are the welded seams. I see a lot of products with taped seams but Stoic has gone above and beyond on this product. the only downfall I noticed that it is very fitted and runs extremely small. I had to size up 2 sizes for the sleeves and length to fit correctly.
