I was looking for an insulated ski jacket and after shopping around, and reading the good reviews Stoic's Bomshell Insulated Jacket received on Backcountry.com, I ordered one. It arrived in time for me to take to Utah last week for some spring skiing. I wasn't sure I'd need the insulation, as its usually warm this time of year at Solitude, but I brought it anyway because it was new and pretty J. Good thing I had it! It snowed most days we were there, and was really cold! But I wasn't. I'm skinny and I get really cold when the temperatures are low. Stoic's jacket, with the right layer or two, really did the trick. And it's cute. Great cut to it, so it is flattering, and as waterproof as they claim. I can't recommend it highly enough!! Thank you, Stoic.

I absolutely love this jacket. I'm 5'3" and 113 lb. I got a small and it fits perfectly. Room to layer a fleece underneath on a cold day - but I haven't had to do that yet. This jacket kept me warm in a 35 mph blizzard! The fabric is soft and so comfortable - but I feel like it's super-durable too. I scraped against a screw that was sticking out this past weekend and it didn't even make a scratch. Perfect for skiing - love that it fits over my helmet. The dark jade color I got looks great.

I gave this jacket to my wife and she loves it. It is a good weight. it is warm enough to wear without anything underneath or on cold days later up. She loves the color too.

Bought this for my wife. Fit is great, keeps her warm in the coldest conditions and packs small in the backcountry pack.

Bought this thing to keep me warm during my NYC winter commute (road bike). All I need is (maybe) 2 base layers, done! After 30 minutes - including some uphill riding - I'm usually sweating. Great when I'm off the bike or waiting for the train. Wish my gloves were this warm...

This is actually the first insulated jacket I have purchased. I generally rock shells and layers. This has been my go to jacket this winter though. Lots of great pockets and a great fit. The fit in the hip is just a bit snug ( ordered a Medium and I am a size 10 pants) but not uncomfortable. Stoic has my vote again!

Great coat. Bought for my wife. It is amazing how light and comfortable it is. Looking at it we initially got a bit concerned that it will not be worm enough. We were wrong. My wife is very satisfied. Very nice, flattering fit.

So, I have used this coat several times. I'm not completely conviced that I'm going to keep it. I read the reviews and should have listened to them. The thumb holes are kind of crooked as someone else stated. Also the fit is very narrow. I kind of feel like a fat kid in this coat. It was kind a tight fit when we went out the other weekend. I had on a base layer, a midweight layer, my beacon and a fleece coat (it was kinda cold). I had to suck it in to zip it up. I'm pretty average build. I'm 5'2" and 135lbs. with an athletic frame. It is really warm. That is why I haven't toatally given up on it yet. However, whether or not it is a keeper is TBA.

EEk! I just purchased the Agave/Jade size XS. I'm stoked on it but after reading the reviews, I'm afraid I should have ordered a size S. Any thoughts? I'm 5'2" and about 115lbs. Thanks!

Not going to lie, this is the best purchase I've made all year. I've been looking for the perfect "green/blue" insulated jacket and I've finally found it. I absolutely love the dark jade color. This is such a warm insulated jacket, and it's the perfect length (not too long, not too short). I'm 5'5'' with broad shoulders and ordered the large and it's perfect. Also, I love the Thumb-holed wrist gaiters. This is a MUST HAVE!!

I am usually a size medium and was not disappointed when I ordered a medium in this jacket. The wrist gaiters are great and it has just the right amount if insulation.

Got this for my wife, she loves it. She is generally cold when skiing, but not any longer.
Now she laughs at the cold.

I used this on a powder day with the hood over my helmet and it kept me warm and dry! Very comfortable and great color!

What are the measurements of the photo model and what size jacket is she modeling? My wife is 5'8 and usually wears a Md, but needs a jacket to cover her lower back better. Lg or XL?

I would get the Large. I am 5'6 and I found the Medium to be a bit short, especially when I lifted my arms up.

Great jacket, really warm for those cold days. But not too warm when I'm snowboarding/skiing. Fits a little small, I usually wear a large (5'8" 38" chest 30" waits and 40" hip) but ordered XL in this model fits just how I like it, not too baggy but not slim. Love the color and it isn't bulky.

The color looks better on than in the photo.

Which color are you wearing? Dark or Light Jade?

She's wearing the light jade. I got it today. It's a bit darker than in the color in the description. I like the color. I had previously ordered the XS in the pink. I am 5'5" and 112 lbs and the XS was good except it was a bit shorter than I would like. I sent it back for a S and decided to try the light jade. The small isn't much longer and it's a lot wider in the body. The thumbholes in the arm gaiters don't seem very comfy. The arms are fairly long which might be a bonus to some. I like the fabric and the welded seams. It is probably going to be a no go depending on what else I find.

Oops. I meant to say that I tried the dark jade in the smaller size...which is a forest green color almost...dark. (I tried the pink in the un-insulated bombshell.) Sorry about the confusion!

Yes I have the light jade on, it's a little darker than the stock photo. I am really happy with it. If you'd like I can upload more photos.

Are more colors coming? Just light green...

Are more colors coming? Just light green and dark green? Same questions in regard to the other ladies' bombshell items -- the pants, and shell.

As of right now, there aren't any colorways on order. I suggest checking back in a few weeks to see if we have more coming in.

My friends are always teasing me in the ski lift line since I'm the kid that wears 3+ layers, because I get cold easily. I've only ever owned non-insulated hard shells, so thought I would try an insulated shell for a change. WIN!

This jacket provides excellent warmth without the bulk. It's sufficient with a baselayer for most days.
Here are some amazing things I love about this jacket.

*Roomy, helmet friendly hood
*super soft quilted texture on the inner insulation
*amazing colors
*Super long and nicely fitted wrist gaiters
*unique chest and sleeve pocket
*delivers excellent warmth without looking like a fluffy bunny marshmallow
*Nice drop down hem on the back helps keep your bum dry
*RECCO reflectors for added in-bounds safety

CONS
*too warm to use for alpine touring, I use this in-bounds skiing only on colder days
*Powder skirt isn't removable
*Sleeve openings are somewhat narrow, This won't work with bulky gloves, or gloves with a thick gauntlet.

This jackets fits pretty true to size. I am 5'5, 120lbs, and i bought the Bombshell in the small, it hits just below the hip, and fits loose in shoulder and body. NO layering necessary. I stood in a snowstorm watching pee wee ski racing for 3 hours in my bombshell - and wasn't bothered a bit : You could have a t-shirt on under this thing, and still be toasty. I like the hand gaiters on the sleeves, but the thumb hole is finished with a plastic/rubber cuff, and it was cutting into the base of my thumb by the end of the day. The waist gaiter is nice - in that it actually stays put!
