I'm moving to Vermont next year and I have almost no winter clothing. Could this be my main winter/ski jacket assuming i layer properly? Or should I look at something else? any advice would be appreciated

I have used this jacket a few times in Alaska in 20-35 degree skiing weather, light winds, over the past couple of weeks, with varying layers underneath from a thin fleece to light 60 gram primaloft underlayer and it has almost been too warm at times for both.
Wow, great jacket!

Very impressed by this jacket! It's very lightweight but still keeps me very warm. Wore it in the low teens with just 2 thin baselayers underneath (1 a Stoic merino 200 which is also awesome) and was warm all day. Does a pretty good job blocking wind as well. Has a nice athletic, close fit to it, while still allowing for great range of motion. I'm 6'0", 205 lbs, have broad shoulders so usually get an XL even though it's baggy in the midsection. I originally bought an XL but the jacket was very long, and the sleeves were too long. I was concerned a L would be too tight, but went for it as I had a hard time finding a jacket I liked better. Fits great! Very happy I gave it another chance, and I'm thinking about buying a second one before these are discontinued. I got the Midnight/Agave, just a heads up, the inner lining is yellow, but zippers on the outside are definitely lime green. Pretty sweet combo still in my opinion. The wrist gaiters are a bit tight as others have noted, so I don't general use them around my thumb, but they still do a great job keeping cold out around your wrists. Overall, love the jacket, great job!

I bought this for the BF and he absolutely loves it. Keeps him plenty warm, does not need to layer much. The fit is great for him. He is 6 ft about 155 lbs on the lean side , has a large, the fit works for him and still has ample room for movement and layering. He wears it pretty much all the time, even for just around town, surprised he doesn't sleep in it!
Love it!

I love this jacket. I got it as an everyday jacket to throw on every time I go outside in Utah. Couldn't be happier. I have used it skiing, and just going to the supermarket. It is warm enough with just one layer underneath too. It's the warmest jacket I have ever owned.
Great Jacket

Bought it for New Years in Sun Valley. Highs in the low teens. Great backcountry skiing jacket. Great fit. Packs small inside the pack. Very warm, light, great hood and looks good in the bars after skiing.
Gave it as a gift

I have heard only positive reviews on the jacket. Especially on its ability to keep you warm in freezing temperatures.
Worth every penny and then some

I am a snowboard instructor and easily get 100 + days on the snow every year. In the past I have only purchased Gore-Tex jackets because I believed all other materials would not hold up to the abuse I put them through. Now I have only had his jacket for two months now the so I cannot speak to the longevity of the jacket yet, but so far it has replaced all the other jackets I own. It is amazingly light and flexible; the insulation is not bulky whatsoever and yet provides more warmth then even some of really bulky down jackets. This jacket is in a class of its own because it is a great resort jacket and yet it is designed for; and is truly at home while in the backcountry hiking and skiing. The hood is massive and can easily accommodate a helmet, and the sleeves are a little longer to eliminate cold spots around the wrist. With four external and one internal pocket there is plenty of room to carry your stuff. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the tightening system around the powder skirt. Seems a little on the cheap side, but over all a great jacket.
amazing jacket

Stoic makes some of the best gear i own. the price is what keeps me buying. my absolutely only complaint is the thumb holes are way too tight im not sure who they made them for but wearing them under gloves will cause my thumbs to turn purple and hurt really bad after the first run. i own both the insulated and non insulated jackets and the insulated is better for casual use since you can just throw it on over a tshirt and be plenty warm

Stoic has done a good job - I own a Welder Softshell jacket, severak baselayers and gloves. For some reason this jacket doesn't fit me. I usually wear a size medium in Stoic tops and the Bombshell is too long. Quality feels solid but I returned it.
awesome

Very nice quality jacket, still young for me so no signs of wear and tear, very stylish, warm when you used the cords to keep the jacket tight to your body, wear a light or heavy sweatshirt under it for maximum warmth. ENJOI!
Any chance a black medium will be in stock...

Love it off the mountain, love it on the mountain. Only thing that got to me was the big hood size, but after I realized it can fit around a helmet my opinion's changed. Used only when bitterly cold and windy on the summit, it seals up every bit of warmth.
Used it in the rain, used it in the snow, and pretty much everything in between.
Sick jacket. Perfect fit with a large. 6 foot 175lbs
All it's sliced up to be.

I live in Alaska and recently bought this jacket. I own all kinds of name brand outdoor gear and I'm in love with the Stoic brand, they pay attention to detail. I bought the insulated and un-insulated and wear the insulated more, combined with a down sweater jacket I spent hours outside at -20 below and was warmer than wearing my Mountain Hardware Subzero jacket. Harness fits over the top, you don't have fumble with excess jacket material to get to your carabiner. Love, Love, Love! I'm 5'10, 165lbs and wear a medium.

I picked this up at 40% off and what a steal! I have used this jacket during both of the big storms we had in MA and I stayed warm and dry the whole time with this bad boy!
The wrist gaiters are pretty neat too!
It is pretty thin/Light weight for how warm it keeps you.

I have always worn Arcteryx in the past but the sizes have changed and the price has gone up too much. My son had one of these from last year so I decided to give one a try this year. I'm super pleased and wished Arcteryx would take note of the features this jacket has. Chest pockets for a camera and phone, wrist gaitors, super light, warm, wind proof and also breathes very well. I have worn the Arcteryx Stingray for several years but I would never go back. This jacket kills it! I am 6' 3" and 225 lbs. and the XXL fits perfect. There is only one thing I would change about this jacket and that is the chin guard material, it gets rolled up easily and doesn't sit flat against ones face. Other than that minor complaint this is the best jacket I have owned in many years.
Very pleased with the Bombshell

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have had this jacket for about 2.5 weeks now and have gone snowshoeing twice and had two days of skiing in Whistler.
The Bombshell exceeded my expectations. With a single baselayer, I was very warm and had no leaks or problem areas. Traveling up the lift to the top of Blackcomb was very windy and cold (around 15F), and I was comfortable.
My only very minor gripe is that I had my phone and camera in the outer breast pockets and my sweat condensed on both devices. I wonder if there is a way to make those pockets less moisture-prone yet still not lose any insulation performance.
I love all the features, too. The Medium fits perfectly on my 162lb 5'9" frame.
Another win for Stoic!

This jacket is very warm and the waterproofing works great for the conditions I've taken it in. The welded seems are very nice.
Very comfortable jacket with lots of mobility. Many pockets.
Sick design!
Powder skirt works and has small snap loops to attach to pants ( I attached mine to my belt loops)
Jacket seems like it runs big. So if you want a more snug fit, size down. Otherwise you'll have room to layer underneath this already warm jacket if ever needed.
Warm is an understatement!

I gave this as a gift to my father, and he is stoked on it. He has used it several times to snowshoe and to all around play in the snow. It is all the tech specs say it is cracked up to be, plus some. For a guy that is always cold, it is refreshing to see him be the first one to strip off layers to cool down in the car. Super warm, super jacket.
