It doesn't take a lot of guesses to find what Stohlquist designed the FISHERMAN Personal Flotation Device for. They gave this comfy PFD angler-specific features to help you land a big one. Two large front zip pockets hold your tackle and other necessities. The FISHERMAN Personal Flotation Device also includes four elastic holders to keep items like needle nosed pliers within easy reach. Stohlquist beefed up this flat-water PFD with 16lb 12oz of flotation to keep you well above the water line if your fish pulls at just the wrong moment and catches you instead of the other way around.

I us my Stohlquist Fisherman PFD 3 or 4 times a week. I put it on before I step into my Kayak and don't take it off untill I get out 5 or 6 hours later. I'm 5'10" weigh 175 lbs and have the SM/MED and it fits perfect with plenty of adjustments for fit and comfort.

I've been searching for just the right PFD for use with my pontoon boat. This model looked good so I thought I'd give it a try. It's very comfortable and functional. I flyfish from my boat so having my fly tackle readily at hand on my PFD means less clutter up-front on the boat and no need for a FF-vest over the PFD. Highly recommend this product.

Fishing PFDs aren't made for intense activity and the pockets are designed for fishing specific tools/tackle. You'll get better mobility and universal pockets with something like the NRS Clearwater Life Jacket - http://www.backcountry.com/store/NRS0026/NRS-Clearwater-Life

Have had my Stolquist Fisherman for about a month now and like it quite a bit. My only complaint would be that I'd like a couple of soft exterior pockets in addition to the hardshell/table pockets in the front. Other than that it's great, comfortable, good attachment points for tools, etc.
Is the Oversize the same as the Universal fit? Trying to get

It's not one size fits all. It has small, Medium, large/extra Large, and oversize.

A Great PFD for the Kayak Angler

This is a great PFD for the kayak angler because the back rides high and doesn't interfere with comfortable seating. Gotta love all those pockets for all the odds 'n' ends a fisherman takes with him/her. I got the "oversize" model as well, and the fit was perfect even though I take a 4XL-5XL. I would have preferred the Mango over the Cactus color for visibility; it always seems us big folk get fewer options, doesn't it? But that's a relatively minor thing compared to the PFD's functionality and performance.

this is a nice PFD, very comfortable.
I have not flipped over my kayak yet, so I am not sure about the flotation of this PFD. I wish I never need to test that.

I fish on a small boat on Lake Erie ; How's the floation if your go overboard in big water and had to stay afloat for hours versus fishing in a stream or small lake?
