Thoughtful design for a trouble-free float.

The Stohlquist EBB Personal Flotation Device's price point might suggest that it's solely for beginner and recreational paddlers. But with thoughtful features like Stohlquist's innovative cinch-strap system and loads of mesh for enhanced breathability and comfort, the EBB makes a great addition to any paddler's kit.

  • Lightweight design uses PE foam for flotation, an outer shell of 420D nylon ripstop, and an inner liner of 210D material
  • The mesh lower back area further reduces weight and won't interfere with your boat's lumbar support
  • Tightening the Stohlquist upper cinch strap lowers the PFD's front, raises its back, and draws the foam panels closer to your body for a supremely comfortable fit
  • Padded shoulder straps enhance comfort
  • Front pockets stash extra calories, river maps, and a compass with ease
  • Bottom strap made from neoprene so it won't dig into your skin

Here's what others have to say...

Great Fit and Function

Wore this for the first time in the Backcountry sponsored New River Adventure Triathlon in VA and it was great! I have a muscular build and it didn't interfere with my paddle stroke at all.

works great

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear this every time I'm in my canoe. Being out solo means being a little more careful - flat or moving water I wear this PFD. Much more comfortable and greater freedom of movement than my rescue PFD means that I actually wear it instead of in the bottom of my boat.

Seems okay, but...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Haven't actually tested it, but it fits well and looks good. I do wish it had a clip/buckle in the front so that it could be unzipped for more airflow while still be slightly secured in the front. What I am more concerned about is that the manufacture date of the Ebb pfd I just purchased was 3 years ago. I don't know how long these last, but I imagine the materials break down over time... so buying a brand new 3 year old pfd just seems kind of sucky.

Got it for the pockets

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm 5'10" ~140lbs; Picked up an "Adult Men's S/M" which fits well. There are about 10 points of adjustment, so the fit can be easily modified to your liking. The two chest pockets are handy for a snack, multi-tool, keys, etc. One pocket has an elastic strap which I use to secure keys. Zipper pull seems a little flimsy, but could attach a metal ring in its place. I use it for ocean kayaking and have done several week long trips of all-day paddling without any issues. Overall, well built, non-constricting, and well fitting.
