Nope!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

We got this rope at our gym and the core slid through the sheath numerous times. No matter how we tried to fix it it kept sliding through. I don't recommend this rope.

it works!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

the rope is a gym rope so it is stiff and takes longer to wind up.i got it in red but because it has streaks of purple it looks pink which i don't like. i got the rope for outdoor rappelling and it works fine with an ATC.
overall.....get the blue one (unless you want pink)

Should have bought two.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My buddy and I each bought one for the gym. He got the red and I the blue. He uses an ATC and I use the older GriGri He weighs about 180 and I am 200. We use them three times a week alternating between the two. They both coiled up a bit for the first two weeks but now they are fine. We got them during the recent sale here at $76 shipped!!! By the time I thought I should get another the sale was over. So far I have taken quite a few falls. My outdoor rope is a 10.1 Marathon and my past two gym ropes were 40m Sterlings, but I guess they don't make that size anymore. I would recommend this rope to others. No complaints.

Awesome buy!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We've used the rope inside once now and from first impressions this thing is amazing. Out of the plastic it doesn't coil too much like others might, though that depends on how you uncoil the thing. I think many times its operator error. One must know how to care for their gear in my opinion.

It clips well. Plenty of length. Lightweight. Great belay. Easy action all the way around!

Buy this rope for indoor use and you'll be stoked. I'm not sure why others are giving it a mere four stars. For the amount it costs this thing delivers quality. I wouldn't expect anything less from STERLING ROPES!

I'll write more later as we beat the crap out of it during the off season.

=)

For gyms and chickens

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great rope for the gym. The sheath is nice a burly to hold up to repeated falls while training inside. I also use it outside on short climbs and highball boulders that I'm too chicken to go for sans rope.

Great back up rope

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this rope as back up in case I ran into any issues sport climbing. I've used it several times to get me out of jams. I'v also used it on short sport routes. The rope is super smooth, it runs great through a Gri Gri 2.

Great back up rope

Is this a dry rope? And can it be used for outdoor top roping?

Thanks

I believe it is not dry treated...and any (climbing) rope over 9.8mm in diamer ( this is a 10.1) will work
