The Sterling Marathon Pro Dry Climbing Rope is a one-line wonder for hard-pulling sport and trad climbers.

The Sterling Marathon Pro Dry Climbing Rope is the do-it-all line for sport and trad climbers who need a light rope for ultra-hard routes, but who don't want to wear it out every season. Its durable sheath stands up to the abuse of your next project, and easy-handling characteristics help you fire in quick clips when it's time for the redpoint. The Marathon Pro comes with a DryCore for times when you're climbing in the cold, wet alpine world and need a light single line for a steep, hard route.

Here's what others have to say...

supple & super light for it's diameter

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been rocking this rope for the past year and a half and it has held up remakably with only minimal sheath fuzzing through both indoor and lots of outdoor abuse.

It hasn't taken as much damage as some of my buddies similar diameter ropes, but it seems to always get to be the lead / top rope-rope of choice. Love the soft supple handling and the weight on it is crazy light for it's sizing.

If I have a choice I always grab the marathon pro over my friends ropes for a dicey lead situation. Additional thoughts: This rope stretches A LOT on lead falls, be weary of the first couple bolts. . like always?

Excellent 1st (or 2nd, or 3rd) rope!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this rope as a top-rope workhorse while introducing groups of friends to outdoor climbing. It has been fallen on lead-climbing, dragged over abrading rock, and seen dozens and dozens of days of hard use in the gym. It is still in great shape!

Pros: Great cost, super durable sheath, doesn't tend to twist, soft hand for tying knots.

Cons: A little heavy for multi-pitch, but hey a rope can't do everything perfectly.

Excellent 1st (or 2nd, or 3rd) rope!

Awesome lighter workhorse

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Got this rope as my first rope in high school, and its still alive (probably to be replaced soon by a sibling). Hasn't received a beating, and with a little extra effort can be hauled anywhere a rope is needed- alpine is an bit heavy, but lots of confidence in the thick rope makes you climb a bit faster. Has only needed washing once and dried nicely. Knots well and hasn't slipped. One of those just throw in the pack and go type products, no worrying needed, though pre trip checks are never a bad idea and have revealed a tiny bit of fuzzing

Should be Every Climber's First Rope!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is one of the best ropes on the market. It feeds well, clips well, is super durable too. It's a great lead rope and a great top ropping rope as well. It's not the lightest or skinniest, so you probably wont see it on cutting edge alpine routes or 5.14 red points. But if you're gonna abuse it (i.e. you're a new climber, outdoor group coordinator) this rope is your choice.

I climbed multiple seasons on it, then chopped it and got another two years with it in the gym.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I finally got the chance to test this rope out, for a few days, and I am impressed. Typically I have to walk at least a mile and negotiate some class four cracks to arrive at my destination, which means I don't like to take heavy equipment. This rope feels so much lighter than any 10.1 rope I have had, and takes falls like a champ. I can't wait to see how long this rope will last!

burly, super smooth handling and light

I have used the marathon 10.1 for about 20 pitches (Shelf Road, Poudre Canyon, Penitente Canyon) now and I would recommend this rope to anyone that likes a rope (it feels like a 9.8) that is lightweight, incredibly easy to handle as well as super durable.

durable, great handling

i've been extremely impressed with my sterling rope! this rope is supple and smooth, but durable as all hell. Others cant believe it is over 10mm. If your looking for a one rope wonder this is it.

durable, great handling
