Excellent choice for alpine climbing

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I've now used these ropes in Rocky Mountain National Park (Spearhead), Black Canyon of the Gunnison (Comic Relief and others), and Devil's Tower (Mr Clean, El Matador, etc). They are a great choice when you need a two ropes to rap. Having the option to clip singly (half) or both (twin) is a bonus. These ropes are stiffer than other twins I have used. The stiffness has three significant benefits: (1) they provide more friction on raps (which can be an issue on skinny ropes), (2) they are less likely to get tangled, and (3) they are less likely to stuck when pulling them down off a rap. After a month of hard climbing they appear to be holding up very well. So far, these are the best twins I've ever owned (and I've owned about a 1/2 dozen in my life).

Very Versitile Rope

This rope is great. I got the 80M for ski mountaineering to use as a single to ski-belay and its long enough to double when I need it for vertical travel and rappels. I liked it so much I bought a second one and use it for wondering multi-pitch rock, with good rope management your able to string together really long pitches. I will say that it has gotten super dirty, haven't washed it yet, but that may be a by-product of its skinny diameter.
