Evolution Velocity DryXP

When it comes to ropes, it all boils down to safety, and the Sterling Evolution Velocity DryXP Rope offers plenty. Even Chris Sharma's first choice in rope protection, the Evolution Velocity is marked in the middle, and bi-patterned if you so choose. With an impact force rating of under 9kN and a weight of just over 60 grams per meter, this rope is perfect for when you're ready to redpoint that pesky project or flash that stellar route next door. DryXP treatment helps prevent the absorption of unwanted water weight during alpine pursuits and is certified water-repellent for when your sunny climbing day turns a little soggy.

Two Years Later, It Still Sucks

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

It?s super stiff and kinks constantly. It didn?t handle well when it was new and it doesn?t handle well after two years of regular use. Right after I got it, I bumped into a guy at the New who told me he?d just returned his the month prior. Should?ve listened to him?
