Designed specifically for the mad men and women who spend their time pedaling (and carrying) skinny-tired steeds across hellscapes of dirt, grass, mud, and sand, the Stan’s NoTubes Iron Cross Pro Disc Brake Wheelset brings the reliability of tubeless setups to the ‘cross course. Stan’s trademark Bead Socket Technology (BST) ensures a bomber seal and a fuller tire shape, so you can run lower pressures and get more grip on wet, heinous surfaces and off-camber corners without risking pinch flats or burps. That means you’ll actually get to ride your bike instead of wasting time running to the pits.

Holding the rim together is the new Neo Ultimate hub, which is alleged to be smoother, stiffer, and stronger than anything Stan’s has made before. Six pawls (the traditional Neo has just four) provide a near-instantaneous five-degree engagement, so firing off at the gun is almost as easy as thinking about it, and new Sapim Laser spokes are lighter, stronger, and easier to service than previous editions. The only downside is that you won’t be able to blame your wheels when you go face-first over the bars into what you’re pretty sure is actually a pit of on-course quicksand.
