Arch EX 27.5in Wheelset

With innovations rolling through today’s trail bike scene at a blinding speed, we’re not surprised to find vetted wheel-makers like Stan’s NoTubes leading the charge. However, we’re still amazed that a wheelset as light and tough as the new Arch EX 27.5in Wheelset could be offered at this price.

Stan’s increased the width of the new Arch EX rim to a whopping 21mm without piling on weight (the wheelset comes in at under 1700g), guaranteeing you a set that’ll be more than light enough to compete at high-level XC races. The new Arch EX rim also features Bead Socket Technology, which improves tire-to-rim seal while also enhancing the rim’s durability, making the Arch optimal for today’s larger volume tires and aggressive riding styles. To increase rigidity and resilience to dents, the Arch is equipped with sidewalls that are 14% thicker than the previous version. And with a spoke bed that is 33% thicker, the new Arch makes spoke pull-through nearly impossible.

To increase traction and tire roundness, the outside-width has been increased to 24.6mm. The internal arch’s profile has also received a subtle redesign as well in order to improve lateral stiffness. The Arch is built with 6061 aluminum and is drilled for 32 spokes with no eyelets.

The Arch EX 27.5in Wheelset features Stan’s 3.30 hubset. The rear hub body is equipped with large, 58mm flanges, and with the drive side housing a hardened 30-point engagement ring, the non-drive side has been machined to reduce weight. The front hub also gets a 58mm flange on the disc side to ensure stiffness under hard braking. The hubs house smooth-spinning chromoly cartridge bearings that ride on lightweight 7075 axles. The freehub is aluminum, and it's compatible with Shimano and SRAM cassettes, with an XX1 driver that's available separately.

The Stan's NoTubes Arch EX 27.5-inch Wheelset comes with 2.0/1.7/2.0 butted steel spokes and alloy nipples. Stan's rim tape and valve stems are installed for instant use. The front hub ships with a 15mm axle and a 12x142mm rear. Please note that Stan's NoTubes' recommended rider weight for these wheels is 230lbs.
