- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Took this mug on a 10 day river trip and was stuck with a leaking mug the entire trip. I owned the mug for a few week before the trip no sure what happened on day one of my trip but every time I took a drink it leaked on me.
The bottle keeps drinks hot, but the exterior is too fragile

I received the Stanley outdoor bottle 2 weeks ago on 5/19. I use it daily. The bottle works great but the finish is much too fragile (see the attached gear photos taken on 6/4).
As others have reviewed, the bottle is uncanny at keeping beverages hot. I brew coffee every morning at 7am, and have found the bottle will keep it fairly hot more than 5 hours later. For best results, the instructions recommend "pre-heating" the bottle by putting hot water in the bottle for about a minute before your beverage of choice.
*Form/Function = 5 stars
*Durability = 1 star
*Overall = 3 stars
It took a fall from my backpack to the parking lot pavement and left a dent that now makes it wobble when standing

Bummer. Again, the bottle is only 2 weeks old.
Just 2 weeks old... already showing signs of wear

The finish on this bottle scratches easily.
Awesome mug!

This is a serious thermos... i coffee in this, sipping on it frequently, was finally losing its temp 7hrs into my hike. Unreal!! If you filled it with hot beverage, and left it closed completely full, i bet it would stay quite Hot for 7 hours or more no problem... seriously no joke. Build is awesome, the only thing i dont like is the location of the clip loop, I like the Klean Kanteen loop top style much better, but small sacrifice for an indisputable working product.
Hot, Hot, Hot!

I grabbed this bottle off of SAC and absolutely love it! I've had it for a few weeks now and haven't had any durability issues thus far. It keeps the contents piping hot for hours and hours. I find myself needing to uncover it so that it has a chance to cool down before I can drink it! It also doesn't leak so if you throw it in your bag or tip it over in the car there's no need to worry about a mess. The only con about this thermos is that the color scratches off very easily but this doesn't hurt the functionality so I'm okay with it.

The replacement part is not listed on Stanley's website, however you could probably obtain one by contacting Stanley's Consumer inquiries and warranty support:

The durability of the lids is horrible. I have one and i got one for my boyfriend and both of them broke. The threads in the lids cracked and caused the bottle to leak. I am trying to get replacement parts but Stanley hasn't been very responsive. The concept is GREAT and I love it until the tops broke. Now i am on the hunt for a new coffee mug. I am really disappointed.
Nothing better...

This is my 2nd thermos of this type. My girl friend's dog chewed part of the inner plastic and although it can still be used, and the part can be replaced, I went for a new container altogether.
When I go to my regular morning coffee-hangout, 7:30 AM, I use my "mug" there, save ten cents and keep my coffee warmer while I am there. When I leave around 9:AM, with a refill, I often (still) have warm coffee at 1:00 PM. The damn thing is just the best- performs well, nice design and color choices and is very rugged - unless there is a coffee loving hound around. I also purchased the 2nd one for $6 less than the first (which I bought in a retail outlet), got free shipping and no tax!
BRAVO STANLEY! BRAVO Backcountry! bob d

This bottle replaces and 10 year old steel travel mug. I love the top - no spill. Took a little getting used to turning the top to drink. The orange color is great, hand washes well, keeps my coffee very warm even in the cold weather. I would buy another and I may!!!

Probably not very well, it doesn't have that indented part that they usually have.

This thing is built well. As a coffee cup snob, I've gone through my share of packable bottles. While my previous one from Thermos had a cap that enclosed the drinking lip, it was too small, and not built as sturdy. 16oz is perfect and the build quality is superb. In addition, the cap can be completely disassembled for easily cleaning. As the poster above mentioned, thermally, its working very well. I've tried ice water in it so so far, and after about 3 hours, my ice cubes are only a slightly melted. If you need a secure closing commuter cup and willing to pay a few extra dollars for quality. I highly reccomend this cup. The unique copper I got is also a plus. On a side note, the Stanley logo is a sticker which was easy to peel off.

Well...This Mug weighs 1.10 lbs, but I am not sure on the weight of the Sigg.
3 hours later and it's still hot

There is nothing worse then going to drink you coffee and it being room temperature. This mug eliminates that issue. I put my coffee in there at 8:15am and it's now 11:30am and the coffee is still HOT. The other amazing feature is that it doesn't leak. I mean throw it in you pack next to your computer and don't worry, you won't fry anything and more importantly you will still have hot coffee when you want it. The lid even has a locking feature so you can't unscrew it from the base when you are trying to open the sipping feature. The only thing i wish it had was full handle, but this isn't too bad and it can be clipped on without worrying about it breaking. I can't wait to use it for hiking and ski touring.

Is it dishwasher safe? and what is the top made from (BPA free?)
Jason Livingston

Instructions say handwash only. Not sure what the top plastic is made from.----------It's best not to put the Stanley Drink Bottle into the dishwasher because the super-hot water and harsh soap will destroy the vacuum seals needed to keep the contents hot (or cold). This includes the lid, etc. as well because it contains seals (ie. O-Rings) needed to prevent it from leaking. The best way to clean it is by using a long-handled brush and mild dishwashing soap. Because the lid comes apart very easily this is one of the more simple thermos' to hand wash.
