    Simplicity meets efficiency.

    Whether it's been cross country or enduro racing, over the past year, SRAM's XX1 has yet to find a race environment where it doesn't dominate. And while the reasons for this are stacking, we know that its crankset is certainly a contributing factor. After all, you're able to select from two Q-Factors, two crankarm lengths, two bottom bracket standards, and five chainrings. Accordingly, your configuration represents your choices, not SRAM's. However, if you're running a BB30 bottom bracket, and you prefer a 168mm Q-Factor, this XX1 BB30 Crankset with 168 Q-Factor might as well have been built for you.

    Carbon fiber arms have been mated to a redesigned aluminum spider for a lightweight crank arm that doesn't require a finessing of parts in order to make an optimal single-ring setup. The X-SYNC chainring is designed for maximum chain control, with each tooth being CNC-machined in order to support the chain's inner- and outer-links. This machining process provides a variable thickness from tooth-to-tooth, so the chain and chainring essentially lock together as you pedal. However, the locking of the two doesn't inhibit pedal efficiency, and it eliminates the commonplace ailments associated with running a single-ring up front. Additionally, this system provides you with a liberation from chain guides. SRAM even went as far as to say that you have a better chance of dropping your chain with a front derailleur than you do with the XX1 crank and chain combo.

    The new chainring's 76 bolt circle diameter sets it apart from others in the SRAM catalog. This diameter emanated from a functionality standpoint, not as an afterthought of the new, universal spider shape. Its design makes it simple to remove the chainring for either maintenance or ratio changes. Gone are the days of finagling the chainring off of the spider -- just unscrew the bolts, move the chainring off, and you'll have the replacement on in minutes. Even better, SRAM has created six different chainring sizes that are compatible with the XX1 spider. Now, you're able to dial-in your range to match the trail, either beforehand or on-the-fly.

    And though the XX1 crankset is designed to work optimally in tandem with the XX1 group, you're able to use the crank and a 10-speed chain in order to enjoy the benefits of running a single-speed or one-by-10 setup.

    The SRAM XX1 BB30 Crankset with 168mm Q-Factor is available in the color Black and with either a 170 and 175mm crankarm length. Additionally, each length is available with your choice of a 30, 32, 34, 36 or 38 tooth chainring.

    Perfect for Cannondale BB30

    If you are in doubt about the Q-Factor go with 168, you'll be safe. This is the only one that fits on my Cannondale F29 hardtail. I am amazed at how simple and effective the crankset is. It is so much quieter with a single chainring. With the tall teeth it is actually kind of hard to get the chain off when doing maintenance. The crankarms also have protective plastic to protect the finish. That was a nice touch. I having been riding in the snow the last couple of weeks and the single chain ring simplifies maintenance and is nice when cleaning the bike.
