Lot's of full suspension frame designs these days require a low clamp front derailleur like this SRAM X9 3x10 Low Clamp Front Derailleur. It's made specifically for 3x10 drivetrain systems as the shape and swing of the cage are dialed-in for the fastest and most consistent shifts possible. And the best part about a 3x10 X9 drivetrain? You'll still have a nice, low climbing gear.
Though it looks nearly identical to the 10-speed X0 derailleur, X9 is differentiated by its use of powder coated steel for the linkage parts as opposed to lighter aluminum as found on the X0 unit. The steel links that shape the swing of the derailleur cage have widely spaced pivots for awesome stiffness. This rigidity inherent in the parallelogram is part of what makes X9 front shifting so quick and efficient. Similarly, the cage is made of steel and is specifically designed to work in conjunction with SRAM's 3x10 cranksets and X-Glide chainrings.
The SRAM X0 3x10 Low Clamp Front Derailleur has a multi-clamp that works with 28.6, 31.8, and 34.9mm seat tube diameters. Select either Top or Bottom pull cable routing.

will this 3x10 unit also work with an old 3x9 drivetrain?
I say it probably will work. Front derailleurs are not very picky. I've run some strange mismatched front derailleurs in my days.
