    The un-disc brake.

    In the quest for the ultimate road rim brake, SRAM pioneered the hydraulic rim brake. Even SRAM will admit, however, that the first design left a bit to be desired in the areas of performance and reliability. SRAM knew it was onto something, though, so it went back to the design room and started from scratch. The result is the Red 22 Hydraulic Brake, and it’s a peach.

    This isn’t an upgrade of the original SRAM hydraulic road brake—it’s a completely new design. The new lever body, which houses the reservoir and master cylinder, features more efficient internal spacing than the original, while at the same time it boosts strength and stiffness for more consistent performance and more powerful braking. The master cylinder piston was also completely redesigned with an all-new bore design and new seals, and the brake was given a higher-capacity fluid bladder. The goals were absolute reliability and precise modulation, and after thousands and thousands of hours of testing, the new system delivers on that goal.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    First set were recalled due to issues in cold weather. The original and the replacement share the feature of smooth and controlled stopping. With these brakes you can even brake while turning without loss of control!
    My first experience with a LBS was bad, they didn't tighten after bleeding so caused air in line while riding... dangerous!

    Maintaining them is a bit different but not hard for DIYrs. Tip: get the premium bleeding kit, the syringes/hoses/connectors are more durable... and don't forget to tighten the various connectors! ;-)

    Is it $375 for both left and right shiftes/brakes? R these for 11 speed or 10 speed?
