Description

Precise shifting.

Featuring SRAM's rotational Yaw technology, the SRAM Red 22 Front Derailleur gives you the ability to use every gear combination without pesky chain rub or discordant drivetrain feedback. Instead of simply moving back and forth along a linear path like most front derailleurs, the Red 22 rotates in conjunction with your chain, preventing dropped chains or unwanted rubbing. Its aluminum outer cage saves weight, while the steel inner cage allows for stiffer, punchier shifts. Additionally, the included Chain Spotter attaches independently, protecting your bike frame in the event that you experience a dropped chain.

  • Yaw technology
  • Aluminum, steel construction
  • Slim spring design (reduces frame interference)
  • Optimized for SRAM's X Glide R Chainring, Red 22 11-Speed groupset
  • Integrated chain spotter
  • Precision alignment markings

PITA to set up

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Don't play with the factory set limits on the initial install, or it is a serious bear to get right. Honestly not better than the 4 trim options that DA 9000 came out with, but it does work better than the 10 speed previous gen FD. Sram red 22 is dead on perfect except for the FD.

Would this replace an apex dérailleur?

Responded on

This will work on any sram 2x11 speed system. I think the apex was 10 speed so i don't think this will work.

What if my frame (IBIS Hak disc.) needs a band type der. but this one only comes in braze-on?

Best Answer Responded on

I am sorry to say that James is mistaken and you are certainly not SOL. You will just need to purchase a braze on clamp/adapter , size 34.9 based on your Ibis spec. SRM0062 would be a great option for you. K-Edge also makes some great braze on adapters in different colors, but I show we are currently out of stock on the 34.9.

Please let us know if you have any other questions and sorry for the miss-information.

Looks awesome

Looks awesome

Like a erector set piece - but awesome; works great, even with Rotor Q-Rings :)

Best front SRAM yet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Along with the 22-speed group, this derailleur far exceeds the first generation SRAM products. Looks awesome - almost like an exquisite science project :) Best way to set-up, is to use the line on the top of the cage. Also, this one works best with lots (and lots) of cable tension. Ridden >1500 miles on this so far, without one drop, no hangups what soever - haven't needed to adjust once so far. * you can also use the new 22 front with the last generation 10-speed left hand shifter - nice to know :)
