Description

The pinnacle of performance.

Spyder designed its Men's Pinnacle Jacket with the utmost standards of protection, warmth, and mobility for you this ski season. Osmo technology and fully taped seams offer exceptional waterproof protection in wet weather, and it has unbelievable breathability to keep you comfortable while you hike up powder-capped peaks. You get a decent amount of warmth throughout winter with 60g PrimaLoft One insulation stuffed in the body and sleeves. The 360° stretch nylon shell lets you tuck, torque, and twist without any restrictions, and Spyder coated the shell with its proprietary Spylon+ DWR for even more protection against stormy weather. Spyder also added an anti-abrasion overlay by Bemis for unbeatable durability that's sure to last through many seasons of rough ski sessions.

The Pinnacle also features a core ventilation system that lets out some steam when you hike up those snowy slopes. You can snap the powder skirt back when you hit up the lodge, or you can remove it when snow isn't an issue. The hood is also removable, and you can adjust the hood to seal out any cold drafts heading your way. Waterproof zippers cover the two-way center front opening and all the pockets to protect you in ways that most jackets fail to do. Thumbholes in the inner stretch cuffs keep the sleeves in place, hook-and-loop cuffs retain the insulation's wonderful warmth, and a drawcord at the hem prevents blustery blizzards from blowing up your body. Smooth chamois wipes the crud off your goggles without a scratch.

Looks pretty but hammers nails all day

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Of all places, I found this jacket (previous model) at the thrift store for $14. I almost bowled people over trying to get it to the register. I found out that it was the 20000 mm version which is the same as this model pinnacle. Love some of the intelligent features. There's an extendable tether line in the front breast pocket. I attached my camera to it and have taken pics in precarious spots without fear of losing my camera. There's a fowl pocket on the back of the coat which is awesome for stuffing your gloves and hat into when you need your hands free for fire lighting etc. The hood has great balance and doesn't get into your face. Waterproofing is outrageous good. I LOVE the fact that medium for Spyder doesn't mean a 5'2" man with stubby appendages. It means a 5'11" man with a fit figure and long arms. Because I paid so little for this jacket I really tested its grit and it does deliver.

Only drawbacks: velcro on wrists wears out and the flaps dangle. the hood adjusters get stuck into these small recesses in the hood making difficult to access them. Though it is insulated, when the wind blows, you can feel the chill of the material on your arms in really cold weather. I would prefer another sort of fuzzy mesh lining like in Arcteryx or North Face current model coats. The shell is a little thick which makes the coat very durable but a little heavy.

When I double this coat up with a down liner, it is unbeatable in sub zero. Overall, very impressed.

I LOST MY HOOD FROM MY SPYDER JACKET AND CAN'T FIND THE MODEL #. IT IS BLACK WITH RED HIGH LIGHTS. IT COST ABOUT $350 IN 2009.I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT. THE ZIPPER THAT ATTACHES THE HOOD IS ABOUT 5-6 INCHES.

Hi Wayne,
I just checked on the Spyder site hoping to get you a link to their warranty department for you but I saw this....

Can I get a replacement zip-off sleeve (goggle wipe, belt, etc) for my jacket?
Sorry, due to storage, production, and constantly progressing designs, we can't replace lost components.

I know that we don't have any hoods laying around either. next best bet is to maybe head to a thrift store with your jacket and see if any of the zip off hoods there are the right color and will zip onto your jacket. Sorry for the bad news, and good luck!
