- Stretchy shell fabric has an OSMO XT.L laminate that acts as a barrier against wet winter storms
- Spylon DWR water-resistant coating helps prevent the fabric from absorbing surface water (coating retains 80% effectiveness even after 20 washings)
- Fully taped seams block water and snow from rolling down the jacket and sneaking in
- Jacket comes with 60g of PrimaLoft insulation to trap heat on cold days—pair with additional layers if the temperature really takes a nosedive
- On bluebird days, remove the hood and show off your mohawk

Considering making the major investment in a new ski jacket, maybe the last one I buy. Ever. I believe spyder is the finest and looking at either orbiter or cosmos mainly on color choices and also bc the pinnacle is just too damn xpensive (otherwise I buy it). Please rec other brands ie Patagonia primo and help me decide. Thank you

@bstephe71 - I hope you have read my review below. If you do get this jacket, please be sure to review it. I am still waiting for the correct size to be in stock so I can exchange mine. I have to tell you, I really do love the jacket. Its warm, comfortable and I love all the features. I hope you receive a jacket that is in perfect condition. Please let me know how it goes, so I can help determine whether I will be keeping mine for good or exchanging it for another jacket.

I bought a Spyder a few years ago and have been very happy with the performance. Like you said, this is a major investment and this is a quality jacket. You get the technical performance and this is one sharp looking jacket! You could also try www.geartrade.com as Backcountry sells some of their returned merchandise there for about half price.

I got the jacket brand new in the bag with tags still attached on 12/28/2011. The left front pocket has a pretty bad tear in in... the silver lining next to the front right chest pocket is already starting to come off... and the hood elastic pulls are, already pulled out of place. I asked for an RMA of the jacket, and a new one in return. Backcountry.com is currently out of stock and has been for the last two weeks.
Its absolutely unacceptable that a $600 jacket has this many problems brand new out of the box. I love the warmth of the jacket, its size and features. Everything is perfect in terms of design. I couldn't ask for more. I'm hoping this is just a one off scenario where the jacket skipped QA and is defective.
...waiting for more in stock so I can exchange jacket. Come on backcountry.com what are you waiting for? Order some more Spyder Orbiter Jackets... in Large... Color Black..
...I'll revisit this review when I have a new jacket.
