The Spyder Men's Jackson Softshell is the jacket you want for everyday skiing. The water-repellent Stretch Ripstop fabric has a soft-brushed interior and is cut roomy so you can layer underneath it. Waterproof zippers, an attached hood, and a zip-out powder skirt keep precipitation at bay, so you can concentrate on finding the freshies. This full-featured softshell includes two chest and two hand pockets, plus underarm vents. For Jackson junkies who spend time between the the lifts and out of bounds, the Jackson softshell provides the breathable versatility you need to enjoy every moment on the hill.

tough jacket, can withstand extreme conditions - mountain climbing, snowboarding, or just shovelling ice from the driveway. keeps you warm, too. size is a bit small though, i'm 6' 220lbs, i usually wear xl but xxl is not as tight.

Very Functional and Comfortable

By:

Bought this awesome soft shell in mid-March of this season; for spring skiing needs. Wore it at Big Sky and Silver Mtn; temps 20s in the AM and 50s in the PM. Warm enough in the AM with soft shell's insulation and a t-neck. Pit zips work great to control overheating in the PM. Very windproof. Convinced if you wore an insulated under-layer you’d be just as comfortable in a colder mid-winter setting. Fits slightly sung for easy movement but with plenty of room to layer. Hood fits over a ski helmet a bit snug; doesn't give easy 180 degree movement but enough to look at blind spots while moving down hill. Outside pockets very functional but wish it had at least 1 inside pocket. This is an awesome soft shell. The novice to the most advanced skier will love this soft shell.

Way better than similar Spyder Telluride Jacket

By:
July 27, 2007

This jacket is far superior to the very similar Spyder Telluride, which I also own. The Jackson has pit vents, the Telluride doesn't. And the hood makes the whole collar area way more comfortable, whereas on the Telluride, the stubby collar stabs you in the neck no matter what position the zipper is in.

The collar on the Descente soft shells is way better than Spyder's stab-you-to-death collar.

Unfortunately, Spyder has eliminated almost all of their colors in the soft shell garments. You can buy any color you want, as long as it's black or brown. Yeccch.

Great Jacket

By:

Excellent jacket - fits perfectly. Chest pockets are functional, and the hood doesn't get in the way. Keeps the rain off and is quick to dry. The red looks great!! For a relatively inexpensive soft shell ... can't beat it.
