The high-tech fighter jet of ski jackets.
The Spyder Alps Jacket drips with tech-heavy materials and features designed to create a warm, dry micro-climate around your torso while optimizing your agility and range of motion. This sleek, athletic ski jacket combines superior weather protection with mobility and intense style so you'll feel and look great whether you're powder hunting in Val d'Isere or swimming in Wasatch snow.
The Alps Jacket is made with four-way stretch nylon on both the shell and the liner, plus elasticized panels at the bottom hem for complete stretch and a limitless range of motion. This nylon fabric is treated with Spylon DWR to shed water. Spyder then adds its Osmo laminate, which is waterproof and boasts an incredible 30,000 g/m breathability rating. 60g Primaloft synthetic insulation is added to the body and sleeves to take the edge off the cold without overheating you. If you do start to get too warm, can open the core ventilation system to push fresh, cool air through the jacket. The Alps also includes a removable powder skirt, a removable, adjustable hood, and wrist gaiters to seal out the deep snow. Waterproof zippers and full seam taping take care of the usual weak spots when it comes to waterproof apparel. Spyder finishes off the Alps jacket with a truly impressive array of pockets to keep you organized and entertained as you teach the Europeans what powder skiing is all about.

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: Runs small
This jacket has all the high tech gizmos, making it one of the more desirable and versatile ski jackets in the market. I had trouble finding my right size in this jacket, as it does run on the small size with a shorter than normal waist length at 27". At 5'9" and 167 lbs, I usually find myself in a large size, depending on the cut. I selected the medium size, in order to get the optimum fit and athletic feel, and still maintain a sleeve length of 33.5". With one base layer and lighter ski top, I found the mobility and range of motion was perfect. The jacket is also deceptively warm, a testament to how breathable and waterproof the Osmo material is.

Awesome jacket! Have worn dozens of ski jackets and this is the best one yet. The durability, stretchability and breathability are amazing. Pockets could be a bit deeper, but other then that small issue everything is great.
The jacket has a more "athletic" fit...if that's the right word. I'm 5' 7" and 175 pnds. Broader at the shoulders. I would normally wear a large but fit some where between a large and extra large with this jacket...bought both and ended up returning the large. I can still fit a couple light layers under it comfortably. The venting is great...good positioning.
I mentioned the breathability above...unreal! Have never owned a jacket that breathes like this. And the durability is amazing...I do a lot of tight tree skiing in the rockies and have yet to find a rip. The stretchability is unique...very cool feature...hard to explain, but once you try it on I guarantee you'll understand.
