There is something enticing about the coming of cooler weather—it's a chance to cuddle up in sweaters, drink single malt, and don a stylish jacket like the classic Women's Wool McElroy Jacket. This chic thigh-length jacket combines great style with enough warmth to see you through early winter and late spring. Wool herringbone works with any outfit, from wool slacks to yoga pants. If yoga is the on the agenda, Thinsulate insulation lets you dress for the studio and not an Arctic expedition. The polyester lining gives the McElroy a frictionless inside. Layering won't cause you problems, nor will wearing only your favorite yoga (sleeveless) top. Toggle closures let you choose between a relaxed front and a buttoned-up demeanor if the winds howl louder than you prefer.

Zip the full-height collar and flip the hood up when the wind tries to pry its way inside the jacket. Sometimes you need a hood, but you don't need the furry protection of trim. Take the trim off with a quick zip, or leave it on if you're trying to attract the fox in the front row of your yoga class—how does he do that with his hips? Front flap pockets give this wool wonder the same casual attitude as your ex-boyfriend's jeans, but with a little more warmth and a lot less baggage than that pair of denim.

Love this coat!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

Well made, warm, and traditional with a bit of current-ness. I ordered up to a Medium so that I could wear heavier things underneath in times of bitter cold. It was a bit tight for that, now it's perfect. Love the two-way zip! Wish pockets were enter-able from the top or side without dealing with the flap (I like to walk around with my hands in my pockets) but that is a very minor issue.
