I loveeee these pants! Not a Kardashian? NO PROBLEM haha! The Soybu Killer Caboose pants will They feel like they were made especially for me and my booty :) super comfortable and so soft. I use them for outdoor yoga on cooler days but they're too thick for hot yoga. I also wear them whilst hiking and lounging. Make sure you buy the right size! I tried on an extra small at first and thought that was right for me. Luckily I tried on the smalls and realized that they look and feel much better with that bit of added space on the waistband and bum region. I say this because I think it's easy to get fooled into a smaller size as the pants are so stretchy. I will post pics soon!

A special thanks to Backcountry.com and Soybu for hand-selecting me to test and review these pants for the benefit of the Backcountry.com community!

Yoga pants generally terrify me. But after wearing these pants for the past month I've gotten over that fear. A lot of yoga-type clothing seems to work well for smaller women but not so much on the larger end of the spectrum but these are definitely an exception! I'm generally not one who enjoys tighter pants due to having a killer caboose (and killer thighs) myself but I found that these were still ultra comfy when other form fitting pants just squeeze too much. I found that overall they looked way more flattering than most similar pants and my husband agreed.

Overall these are a very simple classy yoga pant (yoga pants are totally classy right?) with the only pocket being a small one along the waist large enough to store a key, ID, or old-school flip phone (because we all have one of those right?). They have flared legs which I liked as it added to the breathabilty and made them feel baggy - which for me meant added comfort (but as other reviewers note - some people like skinny pants and might not like this feature so to each their own!).

It was clear right out of the package that they were made of good materials and well constructed. The seams are sewn well and offset from "normal" placement which makes for a more comfortable experience and helps them look better on all body types.

The material is very stretchy in all the right places allowing for freedom of movement and total comfort. It dries rather quickly which is awesome when you're working up a sweat. But the material did seem to also soak up water quickly from vegetation when I was out walking the dog or gardening. They are definitely breathable and light and great for some early morning or late evening Yoga here in NH. However, I still found them to be way too warm to hike or walk the dog in during the summer months - but I look forward to wearing them in the fall for these purposes.

The biggest drawback for me was the length of the pants - I ordered an XL and at 5'6" the pants were dragging on the ground (which probably was the largest factor in them soaking up water along the bottoms of the legs). Other than that - the only real negative I experienced was that after a few hours of wearing them, they did seem to stretch out and start to slide down a bit. Not sure if a smaller size would have fixed this though!

Pros:
Sleek and sharp looking pants
Durable
More comfortable and baggier than normal yoga pants (pro for me at least)
Quick drying
Offset seams
Wicks moisture (but also wicks it off the ground which is a con)

Cons:
Length
Stretch out after a few hours
A little too warm for my use in the summer

Sleek and stretchy
Great for hiking with my pup!

Great for hiking with my pup!

I can move around and run in these pants with ease thanks to the Power Flex

Killer Caboose indeed!

I want to give a shout out to Backcountry.com and Soybu for hand-selecting me to review this piece of gear for the benefit of the backcountry.com community! Thank you so much!

I am 5'2 and 115 lbs (with a big caboose and muscular legs) and I received the size Small. The pants fit me really well around my thighs and butt, but unfortunately, they are too long for me. I have to roll them up twice so they don't go under my heels while I walk. A quick hem will fix that :) These pants are stretchy enough that maybe an XS could have fit me, but I was worried about how tight that would be around my thighs.

The high waistband helps to hold the pants up and it's supposed to flatten your tummy as well. There is a small pocket inside the waistband in the front, but it doesn't close. It's big enough for your ID, a key, and other similar sized objects. I thought it would be uncomfortable to carry stuff in that pocket, but to my surprise, I hardly noticed my lighter and key in my pocket while I walked my dog. The waistband also prevents the pants from falling down while running.

The pants fit and flatter in all the right spots and they stretch really well with me when I do my yoga in them. No butt crack peeking out here! Another cool feature these pants have is they offer UPF 50+ protection! They are also 87% nylon which makes them ideal for hiking; they will dry fast after you get caught in a rainstorm. Yoga, hike, run, lounge, camp... you can do it all in these pants!

I was expecting to be able to do a lot in these pants and they were great for all of those activities! You can even hit the town in them, they look nice enough for that. My boyfriend did comment that these pants make me look like a "hot mom" from behind... great. Not the look I was going for. :)

One thing that I don't like is how baggy they are at the bottoms. I'€™m a skinny pants kind of girl, they just feel so baggy. When I walk, I don'€™t like how they brush against each other. It kinda feels like I'€™m going to trip myself sometimes. If you're okay with flared pants, then these should be great for you!

Overall, I am stoked on them! The quality is obviously great and I am confident these will last a long time. The material is amazingly soft and comfortable. The seams are straight and they do not chafe which is really nice. I definitely will be wearing these pants for a long time; after I hem them, of course!

----------UPDATE----------

Now that I have put these "through the wringer"... I have grown to really like these pants!

I ended up hemming these pants myself; I cut off a good two inches and the material was so easy to work with. It took me 5 minutes to hem both pant legs. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I find that the "bagginess" of the legs don't bother me anymore after hemming them.

These have become my go-to yoga pants. These are AWESOME for stretching, seriously. They stretch with me without slipping anywhere (still no butt-crack peeking out!). The pants are still holding their shape and elasticity.

I also wear them more often for dog-walking... the mornings have started cooling down (35F-40F now) and the pants keep me warm. Warmth and comfort, can't go wrong there!

Killer Caboose indeed!

A fantastic pant for the price!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I received the pant in the mail right as I was headed out the door for my trip to Banff- so I quickly threw them in my bag knowing I would want a pair of pants for lounging while I was up there. True to the description, when I pulled them out of my bag they remained wrinkle free which was an added benefit, and will continue to be a nice feature for traveling.

Pros: The construction and quality of the pant is very durable. I spent a solid couple days living in these pants while traveling - the majority of the time spent crawling on a large glacially formed rock pile at lake Moraine from sunset to sunrise while waiting for the perfect light. Despite sitting and crawling allover sharp dusty rocks for an extended period of time the pants still look brand new several washes later.

I was also really pleased with their ability to regulate temperature. The evenings were quite warm while the night/pre-dawn hours were quite cool and I felt very comfortable in both environments. And as an added little perk, the pant came with a super cute hair tie.

Full disclosure: I am not overly confident that they made my "caboose" look anymore "killer" than any of the other spandex pants that I own.

Additional considerations:
- I am about 5'4" - 5'5" and the small length was just right for me. Be sure to check out Soybu's sizing chart and if you are any taller than that you might want to give a larger size a try.

- I tested the "charcoal" color and they were just as pictured on the website.

I really appreciate that Soybu aims to provide super high quality athletic gear that is both attractive and environmentally conscious at an affordable price point. I would definitely recommend their products and will be investing in a pair of their crop pants and a top soon.

A fantastic pant for the price!
