    Love em!

I had a pair of rain boot Sorels before this that are about 4 years old ( left ones in the picture). They are size 11. I am 6'2" and normally a 11. I got these in a size 12 and comparing them with my pair from the past, they are the exact same size boot. So I am glad I sized up. These easily slipped on and off, I have thinner legs and they were just the right amount of room around the calves - not too loose. They sit about 3 inches below my knee which is perfect. I look forward to using them much like my previous pair - snow, sleet, rain, sunny, on hikes, through town. I find them more comfortable than my last pair. They are a felt like material inside, which I think will be nice. I do have plenty of room for ski socks. I prefer them to be a little roomy.

      Love em!

      Smokin' Winter Boot!

      • Size Bought: 7

Wow, style and function beautifully married, that's how I would describe this boot! The look of this boot is so versatile they can be worn from ski slopes to dinner. About the fit: I am 5'-3" 135 lbs. I have slightly muscular calves and these fit perfect. Ample room to wear skinny jeans or leggings with but not so baggy that they look sloppy. The footbed is padded and comfy. The inside of the boot is lined with what feels like felt, very soft. The toe box is wide so there is no pinching. These boots come about an inch below my knee which is perfect, not to tall which I sometimes have a problem with. I wear a 6.5 in street shoes and a 7 in outdoor footwear. Ordered a 7 and they fit great. These are so stylish I wear them to work (in an office) and do not feel out of place at all. Love them, love them, love them!

      I wanted to keep them...

These boots look great, and I almost kept them. However, my main purpose was going to be for camping (even though they look great to where for anything). They just took a minute too long/too much effort to put on, and I knew they'd be annoying rolling out of my hammock in the middle of the night and trying to put them on. If I had ordered them for another reason, then I would have kept them. I am typically a 7. 7.5 fit great, and I actually would have been fine with an 8 as well. I would say order up at least a half size. A full size if you want to put a wool sock on. I found the length was just fine for me. They went almost knee height.

I purchased, and returned these boots

From the picture, I was expecting these boots to be knee length or close to it. I was expecting a mix of a winter/snow boot with a riding boot. They were alot shorter than expected, only went about halfway up my calf. And they run small. I bought a half size bigger than my normal size, and they were still kind of tight.

Very pretty but they run small

      • Size Bought: 7.5

I purchased these and ordered a size 7.5, just as I do in all of my Ariat boots. I was surprised that my toe touched the end of the boot, I will be sending them back to get an 8 or 8.5. Still think they are great looking boots and I am excited to get a size that will fit.

Great boot, but order half a size up!

      • Fit:Runs small
      • Size Bought: 7.5

I have wanted to these boots for quite a while, but held off purchasing them. These are sharp looking, practical boots but I would advise to order a half a size up, especially if you are at the top end of your normal size. I have always worn a size 7 in about every shoe or boot I own, so I ordered these in size 7. That was a mistake because the boots were too short, so I have reordered the 7.5. I have another pair of Sorel boots (Joan of Artic) and I should have looked to see what size those were before I ordered the first time. Those too I ordered in a 7.5. Thank goodness it is easy to return and exchange items with Backcountry!

      great boots, crazy sizing!

      • Size Bought: Size 7

These are great boots- comfortable, durable, and warm (this coming from northern New Hampshire!) but the Sorel sizing is tough to get right. I have a size 7 in the Sorel Slimboot, so I ordered the same here and they were way too small-- had to go up to an 8 to wear with wool socks. So, I'd say order at least a half-size up, and hang in there if you have to try a second size! It's worth it.

      Sorel Slimpack Riding Boot ROCKS!!

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit:True to size
      • Size Bought: 8

I got the Shale (color looks exactly like the picture) in size 8. THe first thing I noticed is how fashionable these were and the second thing I noticed is how they LOOK like a smaller size than they are but they do in fact FIT like the actual size - kind of a bonus for me :)
I've worn them in rain, snow and ice, and I didn't slip or get wet or cold at all - the soral slimpack riding boots are truly fashion & function all in one.
I've all worn them on a few occasions where I've been on my feet for more than 6 hours and although my feet were sore, I'm pretty sure these boots had nothing to do with it. They are comfortable in my opinion.
These boots rise up, just below my knee cap - I'd like to think I have proportionate legs so yeah, they're knee height!
I love them, I think the cost is appropriate, and I highly recommend them!

      They run small.

Definitely order a half size up--which I would do if they made/sold a 10.5. Ugh. I hate having to pay to return items. Should have ordered from Nordstrom...

      Size up!

      • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit:Runs small

I read a bunch of reviews on these boots and listened! These boots definitely run a little small. I'm a size 7 and ordered (both) 7 and 7.5 and the 7.5 worked for me (especially if you want to wear thicker socks) The strap in the back gives these boots a nice touch and do cinch in a bit if you needed to tighten them. They are very comfortable and look very cute with leggings and jeans.

I have yet to wear these out and about since we're not in the Winter season just yet but I will post another review once I use them more!

These boots are my wife's favorite to wear in the Winter. She prefers these for wearing around town when it is snowing or even when it is just wet. She has struggled finding a leather boot that she can actually wear when there is weather that not only looks good, but functions with puddles and icy ground. The Sorel Slimpack is a stylish Winter boot with a sole that grips. She has had these boots in the Shale color for two years and loves how they have worn. At first they are a bit tight when slipping your foot in, but they do break-in and become easy to pull on and off. These boots also keep her warm with the tall riding boot height and she always gets compliments on them.

      Love the boots. Love Backcountry.com

I must've read 100 reviews before deciding on these boots, and I'm glad I went with these. We currently live in England, so there is a lot of moisture and ice on the ground in the winter. But I also wanted something that wasn't so warm that I couldn't wear them in the spring either. These boots are just that. I normally am a solid sz 11, but based on other reviews, I went with the sz 12. My foot slides in/out easily with room for thicker socks in the winter but not too much room that I can't wear thinner socks in the less cold months. Once I had my foot actually in the boots, the next thing I noticed was the comfort. I wasn't aware that

      Amazing

      • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I ordered the grey boots and they are AMAZING!!! The other reviews recommended ordering a half size up, they were a little roomy, I likely would have been fine in my normal size. But if you plan on wearing thick socks go for a half size up. These boots do great in the snow, not quite as good as a traditional snow boot but kept me dry for a couple hours. The leather is soft and supple. I've got really athletic calves and these fit great, even over skinny jeans.

      Fashionable and Functionable

This boot has simplified my life. I'm able to wear this boot to work and during work! It looks great with a variety of outfits and stands up to the cold and snow. I highly recommend this boot to anyone who needs an outdoor/indoor boot. Somedays it gets bit warm and I bring a change of shoes. I wear an 8.5 and ordered a 7, I think a 7.5 would have been a better fit, but all my sorrels i've needed to purchase a few sizes smaller.

Super cute, but didn't fit right.

      • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

These boots are very good looking. I usually wear between a 7.5 and an 8. I ordered both sizes so I could find the right fit, but sadly they both are going back. The 7.5's once I was able to get them on fit fine in the foot with an everyday gym sock. The problem I had was when I tried to walk- the area on the tops of the foot where the leather meets the rubber would bend down and stab the top of my foot. I could take maybe 2 steps comfortably. Then I tried the 8 and they were huge. I could not believe that it was only a 0.5 size bigger, I had to check to see that they had not sent me a 9 by accident, but it was an 8. The 8 was big. Both inside and just looking down at them they made my feet look huge. My feet were moving inside the boot when I was walking, and I did feel a little pressure where the rubber and leather met again. I don't know if over time when they break in it would go away, but for $200 I couldn't justify wearing painful boots.

They did seem like they would be warm and dry though.

Brilliant boots for NYC snow & winter

Boots look great, received lots of compliments. Boots are cosy and warm for snow in the city & countryside walking. I love love wearing these boots. I'd be happy to buy another colour as well I love them that much. Not bulky like other sorel winter boots.

I am trying to pick which color I want to order. I love the Nori, but have read that they are green. They do not look green in the pic but a lighter shade of brown. Are they green at all? Can you help? :) I do not want them if they are green and will pick out of the other two colors. And are the rubber bottoms black on all three?

      Hi Emily,

Like the name implies, the Nori have some green to their brown. The photo we have is direct from Sorel, but it's not really accurate. Here is another photo, that will give a better idea of the true, Nori color.

Also, the soles are black, on all the different color choices.

More questions? Just call or email me, directly.

I Need some help. I am worried about how "waterproof" these actually are?? I live in Philly and work outside. I also do a fair bit of hiking. Our winters have become increasingly brutal; LOTS of snow and cold but mostly, super wet, slushy snow. I need to be in these boots for 6 hours at a time and need dry feet. I have the Joan of Arcs - totally warm and waterproof but they are WAAAY to heavy to wear walking around for that many hours. Last year I bought the Slimboot - NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL in under a half hour of slush my socks were soaked through. I'm a pretty rough and tumble girl and I generally prefer a high boot to protect my calves as well. This year I'm debating between this and the winter fancy bc it looks light weight. Any help or feedback, even from BC staff would be awesome! Thanks!!

Any chance you will be getting the shale in a 9 or 9.5 again this season?

Will you be receiving the Shale Riding boots in a size 7 anytime soon?

These were in my wishlist and naturally when there is a sale, my size is out of stock (not surprised, they have rave reviews)! Will you guys be getting another shipment of these fine boots (preferably a size 9.0) any time soon??

      Thanks!

Could I fit my Birkenstock insoles into these? Are the insoles removable? I need a good quality boot but I have high arches and need to use insoles.

      Hey Sara,

These have a removable molded EVA footbed with arch support. It is pretty thin and the arch support isn't amazing, so if you need insoles I'd definitely use your own. The stock footbed is pretty thin - like what comes in a tennis shoe, etc. Assuming your Birk footbeds aren't wide or super thick, they should work just fine!

I actually would like to buy these and wear them out at the Equestrian Center during the winter weather. Does anyone know if they clean up well after trucking through mud?

      Best Answer

Hey Jennifer, these boots will clean up good after mud. I work at a shoe store and I would recommend that you find some heavy duty water proofer to coat them with before you go. The water proofer will not only water proof them but if it is heavy duty will also act as a stain retardant and protect the leather from any other stains. If there is a Tradehome Shoes in a mall near you I would go in there and get their heavy duty water proofer, its the best I have found. Hope this helps you out!
