The outdoorsman is often greeted with opportunities to wade through deep snow. Whether you’re winter camping in the mountains, starting up the snow blower in a blizzard, or your kid throws his favorite toy off the railing of the snowy nature preserve, the Sorel Men’s Glacier Boots will come in handy. A super-tough PU textile upper covers your entire calf to keep the snow out, and a fully rubber foot adds additional waterproof protection. A thick ThermoPlus felt inner boot fits inside the outer gaiter and insulates your feet against the cold. And AeroTrac outsoles prevent ice buildup under your shoes and maintain solid traction.

In the dead of winter while snowshoeing i often climb down into the creek beds and i stay warm and dry all day long. If your not used to packs these may be a little heavy, but man are they quality.

Sorel boot

  • Fit:Runs large

Felt like Kli the dwarf when wearing them but they have to be the best snow boots I have had. I would not like to go hiking in them. I used them for long periods in the snow when stargazing and when shoveling snow using snowblower and they performed wonderfully. They were warm and dry and I was really impressed with the grip in snow.

These are not Mickey Mouse boots. If you live in the cold, I mean serious cold, these boots will not fail your feet for warmth. When I go out to snowblow for an hour plus, feet never get cold, NEVER!

I would recommend these boots over any other. At $150 a pair, its a steal!!!

Possibly the biggest boots ever

I have at times questioned why I own these. Honestly, its because a got a ridiculous deal on them. These are rated to -100F, so when I read the description and recommended uses, I kind of want to laugh. These things are almost comically enormous, not exactly something you would want to wear hiking or just because there is snow on the ground.

The shaft of the boot is something comparable to Cordura nylon lined with kind of a quilted batting. A removable insulated midsole provides some shock absorption underneath the liner. The removable liner is the main insulation layer of the boot consisting of layers of wool felt with a layer of reflective metallic film laminated between them. The liner is 1/2" thick except for the bottom, which is the same nylon as the shaft. The liner has a removal felt insole that provides extra insulation from cold ground. I wear a size 13, so I'm used to large, heavy shoes and boots.Mine measure over 14" heel to toe and 17" tall. They weigh a little over 3.5lbs per boot. Not for the pair, but each boot. Obviously smaller sizes may weigh a little less, but not a lot less.

The temp rating on equipment like boots tends to be very subjective, so it can be difficult to give black and white answers. I have worn these down around zeroF in perfect comfort doing very little exertion. I would venture to guess that at -100F, you would need to maintain a good amount of physical activity to stay comfortable. These boots are definitely not the easiest things to walk in. I would not want to need to walk really far in them.

These boots are very well made and extremely warm. If you need the warmest boots you can find to keep you warm in extreme cold environments, look no further.

I did order my normal size. I would say they run true to size, but they just fit different. They are sized to accomodate thick socks and the insulation is so thick (and soft)that there would be a little bit of flexability on the sizing. If you normally wear a 14 or sometimes a 15, I think you will be fine with the 14.
