The Sorel Bota Bag Boot allows you to wear the same comfy boot around the house and outside in the snow to grab the mail or take the trash out. This waterproof slip-on boot is made from full-grain leather. Sorel's construction not only keeps this boot dry but breathable as well. The fleeced-lined Thinsulate insulation ensures warmth during the cold winter months. The Bota's removable polyurethane footbed gives some cush to your step when you have to hightail it out the door to hit the shops or meet up with friends.

Bottom Line: Bota Boot: slip-on comfort meets the durability of waterproof leather.

I wanted a comfy and cute looking (I realize this sounds suspect, but I assure you I am very masculine) winter shoe to wear before and after skiing, and the bota bag is exactly what the doctor ordered. As an all around shoe, I'd give the bota bag no more than 3 stars; however, the shoe stays true to exactly how it's advertised...comfy shoe for around the house and outside in the snow to grab the mail or take out trash. It is very comfortable (cushy, hugs the sides and bottom of your feet as if you were stepping on the snuggle bear), and getting in and out of the shoe requires no hand assistance. This isn't however something that you can walk a long distance in nor something that'll facilitate any sort of "athletic" move. It is very true to size; however, it is high in volume vertically (or perhaps it's the front slit that's tricking me into thinking it is), which causes your heel to slip up and down quite a bit. Finally, the Delta version doesn't look as dark as you see in the picture...and I've seen some pics of it on other sites that seemed too light. In reality, it's somewhere in between.

It looks like they've updated the pictures since I wrote this review. Now they have correct version (2010 version) and color tint up.

well, actually, they have the correct pics of the delta, but the detailed view of the buffalo is last year's model....

.HI: I want to buy these boots for my mother-she has huge feet. She told me to buy men's 10.5, but many of the reviews say to buy 1/2 size smaller. Also, shipping is free, but if I need to return, is that free too?

Great Boots!

By:
December 1, 2008

So, I wanted something as warm as the traditional Sorrels, not as high cut as a mukluk, and without that industrial Canadian timber harvester look. I just got finished wearing these boots for 4 days in the sub-freezing, snowing, raining, red dirt hell that is the Southern Utah desert in winter - and my feet were as warm as if they were cradled in my girlfriend's cleavage. I loved the softer sole, as it didn't collect the mud in the treads that the regular meat-grinder pacs do. It was a delight not to have to drag twelve pounds of sticky red mud with each step, stop every five minutes to clean out the tread with a stick, and generally swear much more than usual.
I would recommend these to anyone looking for a non-traditional hipster winter casual boot that didn't need to occasionally strap on a crampon, wade through hip deep pow, or kick a wounded badger.

... why on earth should you kick a wounded badger, either it be the animal or someone from Wisconsin?

Though I can't speak for all of them, the one that I just got this week from Backcountry was made in Vietnam...yeah...no more incentive to buy Canadian products thinking they're all made in Canada now....but the bota bag still rocks.

Waterproof boots... to a point

By:
January 11, 2010

My husband was very pleased with his Sorel Bota Bag Boots as Christmas gift from me, as the weather was unusually cold in AR this year. He loved their warmth and comfort, still had yet to test how waterproof they were. On New Years Day he went down to the dock to check on the boat, and slipped on a patch of ice and fell completely under water in the lake. His feet did NOT stay dry, in fact it is a wonder he could pull himself back up with so much water in his boots. After walking to the house he still had a gallon of water in each boot. The water does not leak out! They really are waterproof!!! haha. Do not try this at home. And once they dried out, they still looked brand new.

Great Boot!

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 27, 2007

I was looking for a boot that was fashionable, functional, and easy to put on/take off. This is it! I'm very pleased with my purchase. They're tall enough to keep the snow out and my pants fit great over top of them. My only complaint is that the boot is almost to warm. I've found that for all day wear I need to wear a thin sock to stay comfortable.

Do these boots run a little wide? my husband has a EEE foot and in the store they looked like they might run wide. I can't seem to find a wide slip on boot and this looked like it might work.

Not quite

By:
April 2, 2010

These are certainly comfortable and likely warm, but the large opening just created too much risk of snow intrusion for my comfort. Had to return for something that closes around my ankle. Wearing these in snow more than 2 inches deep, you would end up with snow inside. If you don't need to wear in snow, then I'm sure they are great. Then again why wear boots?

Great Boots

By:
March 16, 2010

Great Boots!! Love these boots. They are so light and comfortable. Easy to get on and off. They keep your feet nice and cozy even without socks which I go without occasionally, usually when I go out to get the mail.

I recommend these boots to everyone. You cannot go wrong with them. They will be your favorite pair of boots once you try them on.

Toasty warm and well-made

By:
November 30, 2009

Bought these for my son who is studying at Ithaca college, ie c-o-l-d winters. He loves that they are comfy slipper style, while being super warm and high enough to protect from snow. I like the durable quality. Besides, the company originated in Sorel, Que. just outside of my hometown of Montreal. We Canadians know warm boots when we see them!

These boots fit very true to the listed sizing for me. My Sorel Caribou's ran just a bit large, which I thought would be the case with the Bota but they were much more true!Hope that helps.

Super comfortable

Love the boots - so comfortable - I use them as slippers (very warm) as I always have very cold feet. Easy off and on. They run pretty small so you will need 1/2 size bigger than usual.

I am interested in buying these boots for my husband who walks

I am interested in buying these boots for my husband who walks around outside all winter. Are these warm enough for all day winter weather or are they just an inside boot? Do you have a degree they are warm down to? Thanks so much!

Sorel's yes, but not these. You might try the Caribou from Sorel. It also depends on how cold it gets where you live. I'm in Utah and the caribou's work perfect! Plus they've lasted for 3 years now and have been used a ton.Hope that helps.

Great Boots

By:
February 21, 2008

One of the most comfortable boots I have worn and they are really warm even without socks. I wear them in below zero temps clearing snow and my feet have never got cold. Only bad thing is I haven't been able to find replacement foot beds for them.

Mostly all good

By:
November 12, 2009

These boots have been awesome so far, but 1 design feature has prompted me to provide only 3 stars.

Overall they are warm, comfortable and look good. Great for around town, after skiing and general warmth. They seemed true to size for me.

The bad: if you ride your bike in the winter, the slit down the front of the shoe lets a nasty draft in. This freezes the ankle and can cause the whole foot to feel cold. I have liked these boots enough otherwise that I'm taking them to someone this week to have some windstopper fleece (or similar) sewn into the "gap" area. This may also prove to be an issue if you are walking through any snow over ankle high.

After my modification, i'll give a revised rating of 5-stars to myself :)

Great alternative to wearing street shoes/winter boots. Not bulky but wicked comfortable! Wear them all winter. Back Country is the best place to pick up these kicks!

Perfect winter stomper.

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 27, 2007

These toasty little buggers have become my shoveling boots, pre and apres ski boots. Extremely easy to slip on/off. The Bota Bags are high in volume, normally I wear a 10.5. I probably could have sized down to a 10 but I don't mind the extra room.
