Sorel handcrafted the luxurious Sorel 1964 Reserve Winter Boot in limited quantities using top-shelf materials. The result is a sumptuously warm, waterproof boot with an extra touch of class for the discerning mountain lady. Seam-sealed, full-grain bison leather uppers and high-traction vulcanized rubber soles protect your feet from the elements and dense felted wool offers lightweight, low-bulk insulation. Genuine shearling cuffs keep the chilly air out and creates a level of insulation that’s effective even when the mercury plummets to 25 degrees below zero. So don’t fear a walk around the corner in a raging snowstorm—or a daylong snowshoe hike in one.
Bottom Line: Sorel pulled out all the stops to create a premium-grade, ultra-cozy winter boot to keep hardcore ladies looking sophisticated in even the coldest conditions.
The Reserve boots are all I hoped for...warm, functional and they look great. I've gotten compliments when I wear them. They are a bit pricey, but I hope to have them a long time. Glad I have them.
So... these boots look really nice and everything, but why are they $450??? Is there something special about them that I can't see from the description?
Its true they are made of Bison Leather and the leather itself is not $450 expensive. The process to waterproof and insulate to -25 degrees in pricey. The top of the boot is made of fine shearling. If you are familiar with Uggs, really good shearling is expensive. The entire boot is seam sealed and waterproof. Bison leather is very strong and is excellent material for winter conditions. The rubber toe has 2.5mm of felt that works as a frost plug to keep your toes warm. The boot contains a Poron footbed; Pocron is a footbed material that molds to your feet, it contains a low compression component that makes for amazing shock absorption. Every year Sorel makes a high end boot with a limited offering. We have sold out every year and have gone through more than half of our inventory already! Its true these are some pricey boots, but they will last and the leather will look better with time. Sorel makes removable liners so you can get your money's worth!
Yes they make liners, but not the fine shearling that you pay for when you get this boot. They do not support this high end product, you will only be able to get a liner that they make for their other boots, which is not wool and shearling.
This is the high end (fashionable) version of a sorel winter boot. You can get sorels for about 110 that aren't as "cool" looking but are still pretty awesome. Since they have started making them in China I have noticed reviews saying that the waterproofing isn't as good. I love this boot, and it used to be 450 not 250, so if you have the money, thats a great deal. If not, buy the more reasonably priced ones. The Reserves are for richies
So these are really great warm, comfortable, good looking winter boots, but.......after paying all of that money for this boot the company, Sorel owned by Columbia, does not make the high end replacement liner that the boot comes with. If these boots last, as they should, for years, the liner will not and you will be left with a replacement option that is not optimal. You will have to settle for something that goes into their much cheaper boots. The wool sheepskin liner is a big part of the appeal for my purchase. Seems sort of short sited to me. I would not buy them again.
