Cute but not comfy or useful.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

These boots look so cool....mine are the special edition blue with pink shoe strings. However....it takes a special effort to get into these boots. The felt liner will make you cuss as you try and try to get the boots on (this is not an exaggeration). When you finally get the bleppity boots on...they feel nice....but not like boots for the outdoors. I may wear them for the rain, for a dinner party....not for the snow.....and never my first choice out the door. They are going to be gifted very soon....

    Love without the bulk

I love these for all around use. On a snow day before, my Joan of Artic boots were just too bulky to just run to the store real quick. These are a better option for running around town. I sized down a half size and they are perfect with any socks. The liner is just enough to keep warm without feeling like your wearing a space suit.

      Warm, dry, comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 9

I needed a pair of boots that would work when its cold, slushy, snowy and/or raining outside. These boots are perfect! I've used them for walking around town and riding my bike on cold rainy days. The liners are warm, the boots hold up to crap weather, and over all I'm pretty stoked about them. They'll definitely last for many winters to come.

Amazing boots - but size down!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 8

I actually bought these boots in early September for fear of them selling out for winter, and so far I've only used them for a mild-weather weekend at my family's ranch (which sits at 10,000ft). I got my usual size 8, I have wide feet and figured I wouldn't need to size down but to be honest I kind of wish I had. I've also tried them with the really thick socks I use for hunting season and they fit much better than with regular socks, so I didn't return. I can already tell how incredibly warm and durable they'll be for years to come (I mean come on, they're the classic Sorel boot, made to beat up a little) and am so glad I made this purchase. But don't ignore the size chart, size down by at least half!

      Say "yes" to winter!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 10

And, say "yes" to these boots! Ya know, sometimes, you just don't want to have to think about if your feet are going to be cold, or if you're going to have to walk around that slushy puddle because you chose to wear a pair of Toms in the middle of February. So, my solution, throw on a pair of these bad boys, and your feet are ready for it all...sledding, ice fishing, caroling, walking to the grocery store, and any other venture you may need to conquer during those frigid winter months. I love the 1964 look, the leather ones are super cool, but the CSV provided the waterproofing I needed. And, I am so down with the fact that you can remove the liners to warm them up or dry them off in front of the fireplace in case you really put them through the wringer that day! When in doubt, take the Sorel's out.

      Let it snow

Bought these as a gift for my girlfriend. She wanted a boot that she could wear up to the mountains before putting her ski boots on. I was a little skeptical because of the reviews of being very clunky. She previously had the caribou's and took them back because they ran very large. She wears a 7.5 and they seem to fit her perfectly. I don't think you are going to find a snow boot that isn't a little clunky.

Check the Sorel Size Chart First

        • Fit: True to size

Based on reviews, I ordered my normal boot size, 8. The boots were too big. My foot measures 24.5 cm. I re-ordered a 7.5 (Sorel chart) and they fit great with room to wiggle my toes & room to wear thick socks. Cute & practical for cold wet weather

True to size, don't size down!

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 7.5

I'm a 7.5 on the dot, and these were perfect out of the box at 7.5. I have capsulitis in my right big toe (since I felt like ruing a perfectly good toe a few years back), and even with my obnoxious bunion, the fit is good because the toe box is generous and roomy. Because these are on the bulky side, I would not encourage sizing up - try your true size first, or if you're really panicked, order your true size and the next half size up, knowing one will be returned.

I tried wearing average thickness wool socks with them, and while the left food felt agreeable, the right foot did not, so I've been wearing the low profile ultrathin Smartwool PhD socks with them. This works because the boot is lined with this incredibly warm wool sock insert. Actually, the regular shin-height wool socks were overkill for this very reason, and my feet were roasting. The black/fossil is fantastic, and the wool liner is charcoal grey. I'll be wearing them for snowshoeing in a few weeks, but I wear them around town too on wet and soggy southern Oregon winter days (just what we've needed for the last 3 years, woot!)

        Runs tight & small

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: 8

I went ahead & went with going "smaller in size" with this boot based on everyone's feedback & boot was way too tight-I vary from an 8-8.5-9 so went ahead with the 8 & had to return it for a bigger size which sucked. Super cute though

        So clunky

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 6

For me, these boots were over the top clunky. Like clown shoes almost. There's no doubt they would have kept my feet warm and dry, but I just couldn't deal with the heftiness. And since I live in Texas where we experience milder winters, I went with the Merrell Decora Chant, which feels a lot more comfortable and streamlined.

Side Note: I'm a very TTS 6.5, but sized down to a 6. The 6 felt too tight and definitely would not have allowed for thick winter socks.

I believe these were true to fit

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 8.5

I am not very excited about winter boots, but these boots are SO cute! I ordered the stone blue/black color and I love the pop of coral with the laces and line around the edge. Typically, I wear a size 9, but I ordered these boots in an 8.5 because most reviews said that the boots ran a little big. I should have ordered the 9. The 8.5 size was snug - and they wouldn't have fit well at all had I been trying them on with thicker socks. So I will send the 8.5 back and get a 9. I am excited to get them in the right size.

        Totally Worth It

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: Runs large

Yes, these are a bit huskier than other models, and they aren't the knee-hi boots hitting the pavement these days, but they are MEANT to be just what you see. The colors are amazing and eye-catching (I always get compliments); just remember, it's HOW you wear them that makes the difference--leggings, jeggings, skinny's, sweats, whatever; throw in a pair of knee-hi merino socks (choose your color, there's lots) to add the personal flair; but if you're just looking for a warm, waterproof boot to slosh around in this winter, these will do that too. I was surprised and just how warm they are. I agree with other reviews that these run large and they loosen up a little as the liner compresses slightly with use; I sized down one size. (questions? need other product recommendations? hit me up at klindsey@backcountry.com)

        Too bulky

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs large

These are super cute and unique, BUT they are too big and bulky. normally I wear a size 9, but when they came they were huge! I had to return them and order an 8.5 (from another site because backcountry was sold out) and even the 8.5 was too large! I'm not sure what the deal is with these boots and why they are made so large. Sad. They are really cute and I wanted to be able to wear them all winter.

        too bulky....

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs large

I have had these for about 2 weeks now and have been taking them out of the box and trying them on in front of my mirror in my room, almost daily (I know, such a girl thing). I have been trying to get myself to like them but it just isn't happenin. I want a pair that I can where up in the mountains, either just switching out for ski boots, snow shoeing, etc. and ones I can wear across campus and around town. The toe box is just too big and bulky for me. Maybe a smaller size would fix that problem, but there aren't any left in the size I would want to try. I loved these because they're different from the usual Sorel's that everyone have and I thought they wouldn't be as bulky and could wear them on a daily basis in the winter but I was wrong. I would suggest AT LEAST going down 1/2 a size maybe a full size. There super chunky and kind of hard to walk in. I am so bummed :( But I might add, the quality is great and no doubt will keep your feet super dry and warm. Still on the lookout for some good winter boots this winter.

        On Behalf of My Wife

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
        • Fit: True to size

I ordered these Sorel boots for my wife because, after seeing my Sorel boots in action last winter, she became very jealous and had to get a pair for Winterpocolypse '14-15. She ordered true to size and she says that they fit perfect. Completely waterproof and snug as all h***, I'm sure that she won't be complaining (as much) this year about the snow!

        From the Eastern Block

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

Took these to Eastern Europe during the winter and loved them! While my roommates were wearing 5 layers of wool socks I just had the one with these boots. Keeps you dry, cozy warm, easy to break in, and super comfortable. These are worth every penny.

I usually wear 8.5 but had to go up to a 9 since they don't do half sizes

        cozy & warm

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: Runs large

it was a toss up between these and the joan of arctic (i will probably end up buying these before the end of winter :)) i tried both on in store and decided on the black 1964 with purple laces.. i absolutely love these boots. they are warm (i hate having cold feet & almost always do, but not with these boots) waterproof and super cozy. no need to break in, i wore them out of the store and for the rest of the cold snowy day and got many compliments. i am normally an 8.5 and bought the size 8 and they fit perfectly ( ican wear them with medium weight socks or ankle socks) i have already highly recommended these boots (and the joan of arctic) to many girlfriends. would definitely buy again! love love love.

        Retro Style - Modern Comforts

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: Runs large

I love the look of these boots and the good news is they are warm and waterproof, too!

They may look like 1964 Sorels but the fit and finish is 21st century.

My only warning would be that they fit a little wider than some Sorels because of the boot's shape.

I use these boots for everything I do outdoors in the winter.

The 1964 CSV boot is totally waterproof and best of all they are lightweight. This makes them great for shovelling the driveway or running around in the snow.

They are tough and still look as good as when I got them - even after a Northern Canadian winter!

        Warning: wide

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size

I got the boysenberry and they are beautiful! But they are wide. Cute with leggings or boot-cut pants. Straight leg pants don't lay as well. Size six fits great with a thin sock and the fleece liner, but I have to wear thick socks and an insole when I don't wear the liner. I think the size 5 would be too small. They do take a bit to break in. Excellent for rain, muck, and snow!

        Unanswered Question

Any idea if size 7.5 or 7 will be back in stock in black any time soon? I ordered the 8 and am a very TTS 8 but they feel big. As other reviewers have stated, they are pretty clunky and feel like snowboarding boots. The outer boot is significantly larger than my foot to make room for the liner. Seem to be very warm but perhaps overkill for a coastal NC winter. Still very good looking but for throwing on to bring my kids to school..I might look a bit weird!

What colors are have been ordered for restock, and when are they expected to be available for purchase?

Will you ba getting the sorel 1964 csv premiums in black back in stock?

Hi, will you be getting anymore of the Sorel CVS in boysenberry elm? Thanks

Do you carry the peatmoss, red plum color way in the Sorel 1964 Premium CVS boot for women? Size 9?

        Hey jamp36848,

We will have some Peatmoss/Red Plum, 9.0 on the site within a few weeks. I would bookmark this page and visit it frequently to see if we have updated our inventory. Once the color and size you want is visible in the drop down box, it is available for purchase.
