It's a hangboard!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I picked this up as an Xmas gift for my girlfriend, who wanted a hangboard in the house.

The Pros -
Good texture and depth with the provided grips.
Easy to install - took 15 minutes, including attaching a baseboard over the doorframe.

The Cons -
The two hardest grips are centered in the board, so can only really use them for one-arm work.
Smaller than I expected; in retrospect, I should have looked at specs of the exact size. Once I put it up, I realized that I could have easily fit a much larger board in the same space. Ended up improvising and attaching a few rock rings to the outside edges, and it creates a decent little pull-practice space.

great all around hangboard!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this hangboard! So ill is a great company with great products. The board itself is a great price, good size, mounts easy w/ quality hardware included, provides many options/variations for training and is fairly gentle on the hands vs other brands out there. I have mine in a set of 3 (other brands) hang boards in a campus style lay out and the so ill is easily my favorite. If your considering this as your sole training tool or to add to your arsenal id say go for it you wont be disappointed!

Does anyone know if this board has any type of sloper on it?

Best Answer Responded on

Not really. It's too shallow to have a sloper on it.

Does anyone know if you need to have this attached to a wood wall or can I attach it to the dry wall above my door frame in my college dorm?

Responded on

You can attach it to drywall with a stud finder, but I feel like most colleges with fine the hell out of you if you bolt something like this to the wall.

Overall Satisfied

So I have had this board for about 3 months now and am fairly happy with it. Here is a list of my pros and cons
Pros- smaller (I live in and apt. and didn't have space on my door frames to hang a really big board so this one fits perfectly), its cheaper than most other boards your going to find.
Cons- the texture is really rough (like a lot of So ill holds) which can get annoying. smaller (this isn't the Metolius Simulator there are only so many grips you can work on it)
But hey Overall I like this hang board enough to recommend it to others.

Most of So Ill's hangboards come with the necessary stuff to mount them.
