Perfectly paired with the Snow Peak Lite Max. Great size, light and durable. I bought this for a recent 160 mile/3day fastpacking traverse across the island of Hawai'i. Highly recommend!

lightweight cup/mug/pot

By:
February 4, 2010

this is awesome! great for open fire tea, or boiling water for a dehydrated meal. it works great for both. NO LID THOUGH! it doesn't state whether or not there is one in the listing, but i figured they wouldn't have included it if it wasn't listed. the handle tends to get really hot so bring fleece0like gloves or bandana to grab the cup (or use your clothing). it does come with a little mesh stuffsack though!

I don't own one of these but I came across this on Backpacker.com concerning a lid:

"The lid from a 11.3 oz. size plastic can of Folgers coffee snaps perfectly onto the top of a Snow Peak 600 cup. Using a leather punch, I put two holes opposite each other on the lid. Small hole on one side. Bigger hole on the other. It works perfectly, and weighs .4 oz aka 10 grams. Cost: under $4 if you don't drink coffee. Free if you do.
Someone had tried using it as a cooking lid and it worked fine. Someone else tried and the lid deformed. Maybe you just have to be really careful. In any case, for the weight, I'm willing to pack it along with a cooking lid."

Maybe it will help. Sip it lids would be great for these things.

Would an MSR Pocket Rocket be able to fit inside the 600?

It will. A better option however is the MSR Titan Kettle. The reason is because it has a lid. You can use the Titan Kettle as a cup, bowl, or to boil water. It's the perfect companion to the Pocket Rocket.

The other great thing about the Titan Kettle is that it not only will fit the Pocket Rocket inside, but a 4oz. canister if you put the Pocket Rocket in first. The lid fits on tightly and you've got a perfect set-up that's a whole half-pound lighter than JetBoil!

they weren't joking about this being light! big enough to eat cereal/soup and it wakes you up by filling up w/ a ton of coffee! I have also used this on top of a proprane burner and it worked well. no discoloring or warping. this cup is my new camping companion. love the little mesh sack that it comes in too, perfect for traveling so that it will not get damaged in your pack or if you want to combine other things w/ it for packing.

I just returned from 2 weeks backpacking (mainly) in Big Bend NP. I opted for the 600mL cup over the 450mL and am very glad I opted for the larger size, which allowed me to boil 16 ounces of water which most of my dehydrated meals required.
I didn't have the problem of having to use a potholder when lifting the cup off the fire. While it certainly got warm and was at times exposed to the flame, I found that it cooled to a temperature virtually immediately which allowed me to pick it up without burning myself.
I wouldn't say that it's indestructible as the bottom of mine had a few very small dents in it it. I'd also be concerned that it might fold up on you if much pressure was applied laterally to it, but overall it seems quite strong given its weight.

600ml: Right size to carry as only cup/pot to boil water for tea or dehydro food on a lightweight backpacking trip. Just needs a cap...

Just use foil... Its reusable, weighs less and essentially accomplishes the same thing.

IS this large enough in diameter to nest ouside a nalgene water bottle?

It's my understanding from backcountry online customer service that this cup will nest around the bottom of a GuyotDesigns Backpacker model stainless steel water bottle. The bottom of this bottle is tapered and per backcountry, will bottom out when placed into the Snow Peak Titanium Single Wall Cup 600. A Sigg bottle may also work (and it's definitely lighter than the GuyotDesigns bottle) but their aluminum bottles have a proprietary lining on the inside of the bottle so if you ever needed to boil water in the Sigg aluminum bottle you might experience water quality problems and/or issues with putting an aluminum bottle into a fire. Sigg does make a line of stainless steel bottles known as "Steelworks" but they do not recommend using any of their bottles for boiling water. I'm not certain if any liners or coatings are used inside Sigg's stainless bottles or whether the outside bottle dimension of the Steelworks base will allow the Snow Peak Titanium Single Wall Cup 600 to nest. Hope this was helpful.

I checked to see if my Nalgene Everyday (1 liter wide mouth) would fit. It will not. And a Nalgene Narrow Mouth has a wider diameter. Before I ordered, I measured the diameter of water bottle. It's approximately 3.5 inches and the cup description says its diameter is 3.75 inches; however, the 3.75 inches is at the lip of the cup. The inner diameter of the cup is less than 3.5 inches. A Sigg 1 liter classic fits no problem.

All u need !!

I own the Snow Peak Litemax stove & it fits in this mug w/ a small gas canister perfectly. Extremely lightweight, and very satisfied that I will not be trying the alcohol stoves all the other lightweighters' seem to rave about. There is also enough room left for lighter(sm bic lighter),small visine bottle(campsoap),Brunton Spork(titanium foldable)& small pak towel(cut to fit). Don't waste your $ on anything else.

Very lightweight! However I personally cannot use it in combination with my titanium spork. The metal on metal sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard, thus ruining my appetite.

JetBoil makes a nifty collapsible Lexan spoon - you could try that - it would certainly be quieter. I know what you mean about the metal sounds. :)

Ultralight 600 ml Mug for Pepsi Can Stove

By:
January 2, 2006

I chose the Snowpeak 600 titanium mug for its compact size and weight (2.8oz.) for my light solo cooking setup. I use the mug with a Pepsi can stove and aluminum windscreen on my solo trips into the backcountry. The mug is used in the pack to carry all my cooking items including stove and windscreen. I am very pleased with it and it works flawlessly. It is also impressively strong for it's weight. I have used the mug for over 60 meals, each starting with boiling 600ml of water. Although the mug handles are in the flame of my setup during part of a stove run, which means a pot holder (bandanna) will be required, the handles cool quickly enough that by the time you have the meal prepared the mug can be used without getting burned by touching it. The Snowpeak 60 ml mug works so well that three family members expressed an interest in receiving a mug/stove combination for Christmas after seeing it perform just once.

SnowPeak 600 Titanium Mug

By:
August 30, 2006

The SnowPeak 600 titanium mug is an ultralight-backpacking standard. At 600ml/20oz (weight is just 80g/2.8oz), it has just enough capacity to boil water for a dehydrated dinner (most trail meals need 16 ounces of water to rehydrate). An Esbit folding stove will fit inside, as will most of the smaller cartridge stoves. Of course it is an indestructible mug as well.

light & solid cup

By:

handles get very hot to touch (this was expected) but the titanium itself cools very fast when removed from flame. This is expecially good to be able to drink from when making warm beverages. It would be useful if it came with graduated fluid volume marks inside the cup. I scratched my own marks inside instead. Overall very good quality & would buy again.

Cool & tough as nails coffee

By:
July 28, 2008

It's great for those who want
something thats different from the
humble and boring ikea-style mug.
And because of its size it is
difficult to bump into it on
the table and cause a mess. Unless
you really want to ;-)
As coffee gear goes, it rocks!

Great mug, but stick with the single wall version.

By:
January 2, 2009

I highly recommend this one. The large capacity is great, it allows the cup to double as a small pot (Use the single wall version!). It's durable, weighs almost nothing, and is quite versatile - I use mine to scoop granola, eat meals from, cook with, heat water for tea or cocoa, etc. I recommend the single wall version for a few reasons: You can use it over a stove or other open flame; It costs less; It weighs less; and if you use it while winter camping, you'll want the cup to warm your hands. Ever try drinking from a mug while wearing big mitts? Get the single wall one.

Also, for those camping with a buddy who doesn't drink as much as you do, the 450 ml cup fits nicely inside the 600 ml one.

Snow Peak 600

By:
November 14, 2006

The Snow Peak 600 titanium cup exceeded my expectations. After much searching and contemplation I settled on this cup to serve my day hiking needs for eating and drinking. I took it with me while hunting in northern Ontario last month because I am out all day and like to travel as light as possible. I couldn't get over how light it was. I packed my Brunton burner, some powdered soup, tea and sugar in it which saved room. The folding handles made it easier to pack. I cooked everything in the cup. There was almost no heat transfer to the handles so as soon as I turned off the burner I was able to pick the cup up. NOTE: if your getting one to cook with make sure it is a single walled cup! This is a great item.
