Description

The Snopeak Gigapower 2-Way Torch is great for starting fires, just don't attempt any DIY welding projects with it.

Start campfires, charcoal, or bonfires in a flash on your next camping trip with the Snow Peak GigaPower 2 Way Torch. If this 14,000 BTU flame-thrower were anymore powerful it would be a portable welder. A generator inside the torch-head allows the 2-Way torch to work upside down—a handy feature for light lanterns or charcoal grills. Use this hand held torch with either canisters (butane-propane canisters commonly used with camp stoves) or Snow Peak GigaPower cartridges. A wire flame control handle lets you adjust the flame output, so you don't have to use it in full flame thrower mode just to light dry tinder.

A little fire breathing dragon.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Imagine Beavis clutching his fists and ranting "Fire! Fire! Fire!! ". You will too when you get this blowtorch. It is fricken insane. When it is upright it is calm, but when you tip it on its side or upside down this thing SCREAMS. I used it while we did our remodel and we were camping out of the garage for the summer. I was able to brown steaks, toast bread and make pizzas with a pizza stone over a portable stove and this thing torching the top. The possibilities are endless. Starting a campfire, starting briquettes without fluid and scaring the shit out of anyone in the close vicinity.

Makes a great cheap grill\oven

I'm pretty sure this is one of the only iso\butane or lindel valve compatible blow torches out there. And if you also happen to use iso\butane stoves or lanterns this would make a great addition to your expedition kit if you're on a motorbike or 4x4.

BC put a little gag as to not use it for any DIY welding projects, however the torch gets plenty hot enough to break down any type of automotive glue or hardener (loctite, certain JB weld products, e.t.c.)

Out of sheer boredom I seared a steak for about a minute on each side holding this about 8-12" away from said steak. They were small fillet mignons (about 5" around and 1" thick). They came out a little past medium well but they were great.

After that, more horseplay ensued and someone had a metal cookie sheet and was going to use his stove\oven contraption to try and make pilsbury chocolate chip cookies.I took said cookie tray, placed a dozen cookies on, and balanced the tray on two stoves, I then proceeded to blowtorch the bottom of the cookie tray (it was metal, not aluminum though). After about 7 or so minutes we had soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies. yum!
