Nice goggles, Dude!
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
I really enjoyed the overall look and fit of these goggles.
With many color choices I was able to find the perfect match to go with my pants. On the mountain, a man stopped me and said "Nice goggles, Dude!. After a few days or riding, I had to agree with the man. These are SWEET!

For sunglasses, it's Oakley, for outdoor snow-carving fun, it's Smith. These are great. I recommend them for anyone that is ready to tackle some fresh powder.
Great goggles!

These goggles are really well made and are super comfortable. They also fit seamlessly with my smith helmet. It's nice you can switch out the lens for different weather/time of day. Important to note that switching lens isn't a super quick process, but that's not an issue for me since I'm not switching lens throughout the day.

The best
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I bought these to replace the exact same pair that I lost. Love these goggles. Super comfortable and best range of vision of any goggle I've used, especially up/down.
In my experience, the lense are very durable, more so than the two pairs of Oakleys that I had before these.
Swapping lenses isn't as smooth as with the I/Os, but as long as you're not trying to do it on a chairlift in a blizzard they're fine.
Great Goggles
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I got the Black Goggles with the Red Sensor lens. These look good and feel great and it is also very easy to interchange the lens. If you are ready to upgrade from the cheap $40-$50 goggles where the foam starts to rip off after a year, then this is a great next step up for goggles.
Gets the job done!
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
I have way too many goggles but had to have that black on black in these. The verdict was a fresh looking goggle that isnât super oversized or too little very happy medium size that doesnât drown out my face and looks like I have a windshield. A feature that has shined so far this season is the Anti-fog venting thanks to the 5X inner lens, which Smith claims is the most advanced anti-fog lens on the market it has done extremely well. This goggle seems to be well constructed easy to switch lenses and a price point that leaves you with plenty of beer money you canât go wrong.
Sure beats the competition

I purchased these in tandem with the Smith Vantage helmet and they work perfect together. No annoying gap between the helmet and the goggles. Also because of the strap design, the helmet does not interfere with the goggles having full contact with your face. This seems to be the problem with all of my friends and their goggles which results in lots of fogging issues. I purchased the black goggles with the ignitor mirror lenses which are pretty dark. The only time I have issues seeing snow is during the morning when the sun is extra bright but there are still lots of shadows from the trees. It works great on overcast days but that sharp contrast of bright to shade sometimes affects my vision. Overall, a great pair of goggles that has made many a friend of mine ditch their current goggles and get a pair of Smiths.
A decent goggle for the average rider!
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
My dad was in town for the holidays and I decided to get these for him. He has been using some 8 year old Oakleys and I decided it was time he upgraded. I got him the Black Interceptor/Red Sensor Mirror. He loved them and said he was able to see the snow very well. The sun wasn't blinding him on sunny days and the low light didn't bother him on cloudy days. I think they might have fit the face a bit small but he didn't complain. A great buy for the guy or gal only riding a handful of times a year.
Smith Vice - White/Ignitor Mirror
Love these goggles! Best I've ever had by far (but have only had cheaper goggles before these i.e. Lower end bolle, Scott and one time Walmart goggles). Never fog up while riding, only when I put these on my forehead but that seems like there is no fix. I've gotten many compliments on them already and like the ignitor mirror lense as a "do-it-all" lense for the time being. Great vision, nothing is obscured.
Tired of your goggles fogging?
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
The Vice have a nice fit for medium to smaller faces. They fit on a helmet nicely and the Blue Sensor mirror is great in low light conditions. The strap is bomber and has a nice backing which locks onto your helmet with the rubber on the strap. The lens comes out pretty easy for a lens change out, and the Porex filter works great at keeping them fog free, even in blizzard conditions. I got to backcountry tour for a whole season with these goggles, and ride them a few days at the resort. This is a great lens, and with lifetime warranty, you can't loose buying them. Here is a shot of me on a peak in the Wasatch wearing them. I could not be happier, and I mean with the goggles too.
Awesome Goggles
Past goggle have fogged up. Have not gotten these goggles to fog up. Would definitely recommend!
Subtle style
These goggles give you a wide field of vision without looking like you have a giant bubble on your face. They match perfectly with my Smith Maze helmet and I bought two so I don't have to switch out the lenses for different conditions. Gold Sol X for sun and Blue Sensor Mirror for snow.
Looks meet functionality
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
To begin-the only reason I have not given 5 stars is because I haven't actually used these on mountain yet, since I just bought them at the tail end of the season. For the price, these goggles are hard to beat. They fit great, great field of vision, look real sharp. I had looked at the Smith I/O, but didn't like the straight bar across the top of the goggle. The lenses do change out, but it is more difficult than the I/O system. Overall, good goggle for the money, can't wait to shred the VT backcountry next season.
My favorite!
what are those goggles lens called? Are those the Red Sol-X?
Monica
These are the exact same goggles that I got. I was super stolked
Perfect Fit
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
This goggle, like its other smith counterparts, never fogs up. Its sleek design make for a very stylish and easy functioning google. I've used both the I/O and the I/OX in the past and this is the perfect in-between goggle. Not too large but not too small. It fits very fell with a helmet whether the straps are over or under. The lenses are relatively easy to change and come in all sorts of color verities. This is my all time favorite goggle and I would recommend it to anyone!
Be A Little Different..
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
Similar to the legendary Smith I/O but different!
I have these in mustard and they are be a-utiful. Fit my face the same as the I/O's (being a female they have a similar effect to the I/OX for males) as a little oversized.
With more frame-ing than the I/O they help keep moisture out allow you to see that next pow turn.
All-Time Favorite Goggle
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I've been a fan of Smith Optics products for a while now and have used the Prophecy, Phenom, I/O, and I/OX googgles . However, my all time favorite Smith goggle is a newer addition to the Smith lineup, the Vice.
For starters, I've got a pretty big melon (XL-2XL in many helmets) so there have been a number of times where I try on a goggle that I'm interested in, only to discover that the frame is too narrow and/or too abruptly curved to fit my broad face. Not so with the Vice. It provides a great fit that sits flush to my face without pressure points and features great peripheral vision. Additionally, it does so in a surprisingly low profile package that never feels bulky or cumbersome on your face or with your helmet, an issue that I have encountered with goggles in the past. Because of this, I am able to wear the goggle comfortably over my Smith Vantage helmet, or underneath the Maze.
The Vice held up great throughout a season of winter abuse last year, and because of all the different lens options Smith makes available, I always had clear, fog free vision that meshed with the current light conditions. While the Vice lens isn't quite as easy to change out as the I/O or I/O7, it's still pretty easy compared to other products on the market and makes adapting to changing light/weather conditions a breeze.
I'm getting another pair this season because last years worked so well.
Lens selection : Blackout on the sunny days, Photochromic Red Sensor for the in between days, Blue Sensor Mirror for the flat/cloudy/stormy days.
Good fit, seems to scratch pretty easily
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
These frames provide more peripheral than the I/O, without the vertical width of the I/OX that was preventing use with my helmet. Overall very pleased with the fit.
On the negative side, the lenses scratch more easily than anything I have used recently, including the I/O. I have a fine network of scratches from using my Skigee (soft silicon wiper) to clear snow and water form my lenses. I have never seen that happen before in the 8 years I have been using one. The elastic in the strap appears to be loosening up pretty fast as well.
Great goggle
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
The vents on this thing eliminate any fogging that creeps in. The only day I had any issues was a super cold -10 windy day, and after a simple lift ride cleaning and drying they performed well the rest of the day. The rimless lens also gives you a massive viewing window and you forget you're wearing them. All around great goggle.
are these lenses not polarized?
Do these come with an extra lens? Thanks!
These goggles will only come with one lens.

You're playing in my old backyard. Glad you got to put those to good use. Was that down 7 mile?
