    Bombproof and breathable brain protection.

When you refuse to settle with uncomfortable and stifling helmets that make for sub-par ski days, strap on the Smith Vantage Helmet and experience comfortable protection like never before. Its innovative Hybrid SL shell construction combines Smith's bombshell ABS shell along the top of the helmet, along with a flyweight In-Mold technology around the sides, so you get the perfect fit, without sacrificing an ounce of protection. The new Aerocore Technology covers your dome with four Koroyd inserts, which absorb more energy on impact, while allowing air to pass through while you ride. The AirEvac 2 Ventilation system provides constant airflow by moving cool air through external vents below the brim and pushing warm air out of the 21 vents across the top of your helmet. If you start to get too cold, you can close the vents with the dual regulator at the top of the helmet that's easy to adjust, even with gloves on.

The Vantage provides a superior fit with its adjustable Boa FS360 Fit System, which has a full 360-degree halo design that offers both forward and lateral adjustments. The helmet's Nanosilver performance lining has antimicrobial features that keep the helmet smelling fresh after back-to-back days on the hill. Snapfit SL2 Ear Pads seal around your ears for reliable warmth on cold and stormy days, but can be removed once things heat up.

    fantastic helmet

Smith makes great helmets and this item is no different. The thing I was most impressed with is how light it is. One of the lightest ski helmets I have ever worn. I have worn this on days it looks like a blizzard outside and then also in the spring at snowbird when its 55 degrees out. It keeps me warm when it is cold and then I open the vents when it is hot outside. Definitely would recommend this helmet to anyone thinking about upgrading.

      Nice light helmet

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This helmet is really light and lines up well with the top of your goggles so you don't have a gap between the goggles and helmet. You may need to adjust the straps a bit to get the helmet to come down to the top of your goggles. This is my second of these helmets and I really like it.

      Incredible fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So I've never used helmets up until this season because, well, I don't know! I never started with one, haha. I guess too I had an impression that they would be heavy and uncomfortable to wear.

Well, I bought this Smith Vantage and let me tell you I'm incredibly satisfied with this helmet. It's lightweight and super warm. I don't need to wear any liner under it and it does great to keep the heat in, and also protect my noggin when I'm in the glades lol.

Plus, it looks really good - got several compliments already on it. (got the Camo one)

I'm sold on Smith helmets, no wonder they have such a great reputation. Would definitely recommend and purchase again in the future, but for now, I'm set with this one!

      light weight low profile helmet

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

this helmet feels very nice low profile so you do not get the feeling that you have a huge bucket on your head,
the vents are great at regulating temperature from cold to warm spring days.

      Treat Yo Self

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After a few brain shaking crashes that left me nauseous I decided that it was time to replace my Red Mutiny helmet, and since I’d been abusing my brain with a helmet that probably should have been replaced last season it was time to treat my noggin right with the Vantage.

What first appealed to me about the Vantage was the AeroCore construction which replaces the part of the helmet that would typically be EPS foam. Not only is AeroCore lighter and more breathable than a standard foam helmet, it also has superior impact resistance! This is ideal for my riding style, which is: crashing at high speeds and high drops. Fortunately I haven’t taken any hard hits since I purchased this helmet and I can’t decide if that’s because I’m less top heavy with the AeroCore, if I have taken hard hits but they don’t seem bad with this helmet, or if I finally learned my lesson and slowed down.

Now when it comes to the features I was very pleased. Everything on this helmet is well made and feels durable. The goggle clip is a solid metal hook and I have yet to have my goggles unhook; that was a common occurrence with the Mutiny. On the top of the helmet, the dual regulator vents are like zonal A/C controls for my brain. The two sets of vents allow me to control airflow to the front and back separately. This has been ideal for days when it’s really cold but I’m snowboarding hard enough to work up a sweat, on those days I don’t want subzero wind to blow onto my forehead. Luckily I can open the rear vents and dump heat there. The vents have a clean action and look like they should hold up pretty well. Inside the helmet, the liner is comfortable with an integrated BOA system which allows you dial in the fit so there is minimal shifting. Additionally, I put the Outdoor Tech Chip headphones in the ear pads and they work together seamlessly.

Overall I would say this helmet is designed for to a skier or snowboarder who rides aggressively and/or tours in the backcountry and needs top tier ventilation, protection and comfort.

The sizing chart is right on the money, by the way.

      Excellent

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've been wearing a Vantage for the past couple seasons and have been loving it. I bought my first one in 2012, but needed to replace it this year after a hard fall. I love the 2015-16 model! It maintains the comfort, but with added features - specifically the Koroyd and the adjustability with the updated BOA.
I'm very happy that Smith continues to make this amazing helmet in an XL, as not many helmets are able to fit my head.

      Best Ever

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have gone many years without a helmet that fit right. This one is stylish and extremely comfortable. Bought a second one of a different color and then my wife bought one too which she also loves.

      Comfortable and stylish

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The time has come that I replace my helmet with a new one. Having tried a few options on the market I was wondering if I should go with something other than the Vantage. But how can you deny a good thing?

This is the most comfortable helmet I have owned. This helmet is light, vents very well, and fits with most goggles on the market. It doesn't hurt that this helmet looks amazing.

      Mother Approved!!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Picked this up for my mom since she needed a new helmet. So far she seems very happy with it, since she has only had good things to say. She also really likes the color. The adjustable fit system is a great selling point.

      Top Notch Noggin Protector

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Where do I begin? This helmet has been my go to for the past three years for a variety of reasons. I like it most because it performs in a variety of conditions. The low profile vents / air evac ventilation system makes it ideal for mountaineering season in the spring. Depending on the conditions, the snap fit ear pads keep you cool or warm. The boa system makes it easily adjustable, but eventually wore out, like many of the boa systems do. This was my one complaint as I eventually had to replaced the helmet with a new one because the boa system eventually failed. Overall it's light and versatile and gets the job done.

      Top Notch Noggin Protector

Great, but I have to wear a buff under

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like this helmet - the ventilation is awesome and easy to open/close. The boa makes it fit my head well. My only complaint is that the plastic parts that hold the boa wires rub the top of my ears, between my ears and my noggin. Problem solved by wearing a buff underneath, which is probably okay for cleanliness anyway. But then the buff /hat/etc falls down in my eyes. Oh well, such is life.

      Comfortable Helmet

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have taken the same position when buying all my gear, that is the price tag doesn't matter as long as it fits well and is comfortable. That is no different with this helmet. I tried many different helmets but this is the helmet that just fit and felt well on my head. The only problem I had was my head was borderline large/extra large. I wish they would make these helmets to overlap a little for example, large would be 58-61 cm, and medium would be 60-62 cm.

For anyone wondering, I also have the Oakley Flight Deck goggles and they fit just fine with this helmet.

      A worthy upgrade to a 2012 variant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Glue had gone bad on my variant brim which has gone back to smith for warranty (great customer service). This replaced the helmet during the wait. It's light, fits right, and the ventilation system is the best I've used. It's great.

Can this helment be used for biking? If not what makes it different from the ones that have that as a recommened use? Thanks.

      Hey Gary!

I would not recommend this helmet for biking. The biggest point is that bike helmets are going to offer a lot more breath-ability. They are also designed for different types of impacts.

Check out the Smith Overtake or the Smith Forefront if you want an awesome bike helmet with similar technology from Smith.

Hit me up if you have any questions or would like to pick up one of those helmets.

Will my OT Chips work with the Variance helmet and, if so, will the chips be easily accessible (in and out) for charging?
