Born from Smith’s most coveted helmet technologies, the Vantage gives you the same protection used by the pipe-shredding and heli-dropping likes of Scotty Lago and Sage Cattabriga Alosa. Stashed in this low-profile life you’ll find dual adjustable vents, a moisture wicking liner, and removable Snap-fit SLR ear pads. Surviving a hard knock life requires strong, lightweight protection and the Vantage delivers in a streamline package.

  • Xstatic liner easily uses a soft, moisture-wicking fabric to move sweat away from your head while you hike or shred
  • Dual density EPS Liner provides lightweight, industry standard protection against impact
  • Two rear sliders adjust front and rear zones of the 21 total vents that help to keep your head cool by venting out hot air and replacing it with a cool breeze
  • A soft, adjustable Helmet Fit plate allows you to dial in your lid’s fit for silky smooth comfort
  • Removable rear clip locks your goggle strap in place
  • Optional Skullcandy audio uses wires or Bluetooth integration listen to ‘80s rap music while you ride (Skullcandy audio separately)

Bottom Line: A pro-worthy lid to keep your cranium from cracking.

well vented

I used the Vantage all last year and really loved it. its a cross between the super light maze and the well vented variant. I loved that the vents were highly adjustable and easy to use. I found myself adjusting constantly, regulating heat really well. This helmet is light for its protection and adjust ability its my favorite helmet yet.

The new Smith Vantage is by far the best helmet i have ever used. Very lightweight, super durable, and the dual zone vent system rocks. As sage mentions above, its a cross between the super light maze and the well vented variant. Just about the best vented helmet on the market today, especially when paired with any one of Smith's goggles. I use the Vantage with the Oakley Splice, and it works very well. Best helmet ever. 5 stars.

The new Smith Vantage is a great update to the helmets that I have had. It is super light and the venting is amazing! My Smith I/O Goggles fit so perfect inside the helmet. It is like they were made for each other!! I am definitely going for the audio system too. Better snow soon!

How does this one work with Oakley Crowbars?

How does this one work with Oakley Crowbars?

Not the greatest fit. The Crowbars aren't as wide or big of a goggle as the I/O or I/Os. MY buddy rocks the Crowbars or Splice with the Vantage and he always has a gaper gap between his goggles and helmet. He fogs up more than me (almost never) with his combination versus me with my vantage and I/O combo.

Best Smith helmet yet!

By:
December 10, 2010

The Smith Vantage is the best snowsports-specific helmet to come from Smith yet. The next iteration beyond Smith's Variant, the Vantage simply does everything better. The venting is superb: fore and aft control with each slider having three "notches" for fully open, halfway and closed. The helmet is wonderfully light and very comfortable to wear. The internal headband adjustor is easily controlled by a rear knob and the chinstrap can not only be loosened and tightened in the traditional manner, but is articulated at each point of contact with the helmet as well to allow for essentially forwards and backwards adjustment as well. The goggle holder is also truly an innovation. Not a simple strap and snap, it's more like a bungied tab that holds goggles secure while being very easy to operate.

Style-wise, Smith delivers as usual. Fans of low-profile helmets need to check out the Variant: no big bughead here! The Vantage sits at least as low as any other helmet on the market. Excellent integration with Smith goggles means zero gaper gap and absolutely no fogging thanks to the vents in the brim. That brim, by the way, is necessary to make the helmet fit with the goggles. The helmet is so low-profile that if it weren't for the brim, your goggles would probably stick out past the helmet! And did anybody mention day glo yet? DAY GLO! ON MY HEAD!

Simply put, if you are looking for a helmet at the Vantage's price point, your quest has ended RIGHT HERE. Nothing on the market is going to perform better or look steezier. The Smith Vantage: sleek, tricked-out and ready to hit the slopes!

It's a shame when reps get on here and cut and paste in some brochure copy. Isn't this supposed to be for impartial people who have really used the product?

I absolutely am not a Smith rep. I just write well and love the heck out of my helmet. I am pretty flattered that you thought this came from a brochure, but I'm being completely honest about how I feel. Namely, that out of all the helmets I tried on, the Vantage blew the rest out of the water and provided complete and total satisfaction for me this season. So I guess I'm sorry for any confusion, but I was just trying to be helpful.

Love this helmet. It is lower profile and lighter weight than my old Variant Brim. Looks sweet too....if I must say so myself. The venting is amazing and it fits soooo good!

Optional skullcandy audio? Is there speakers in those earpieces already? Or are they extra.

Scott, the earpieces are extra. BC does offer the version with speakers and connections for your phone and ipod, it costs about $25 extra and they currently only carry it in one color. To view it search the site for Smith Vantage Skullcandy Twin-tip Audio Helmet. Hope this helps!

Climate control

By:
November 18, 2011

During a rather amazing spill, my helmet took the force of my ski right across the top, protecting me from the hit and the ski edge slicing me up. This helmet not only protects your grey matter between your shoulders but it also keeps your head a perfect temperature. My head was always comfortable and with the vents you can adjust as necessary. The vent sliders can even be adjusted while wearing bulky gloves.

Love the dual venting adjustment but the fit could be more personalized. Next year this will come with a boa coil in the back that will cinch up the helmet and make the fit feel more customized to your head. Definitely a good catch next year.

Dialed.

By:

Smith has done a great job making a real skiers helmet. It is the perfect weight. The front/back vent zones are way better than the old left/right vents. It is stylin. My one criticism is that the ear flaps are a little too thin when you don't have the audio system in, but that was easily remedied with a little homemade insulation.

This Helmet is super light, and has lots of vents. Great for warm blooded peeps. If you get cold easily, look at buying the maze. I have been very satisfied.

The New Gold Standard

By:
February 13, 2011

I've tested a lot of helmets over the years and the Vantage is the bee's knees. The split adjustable ventilation is killer. When hiking or walking around, open the vents for maximum air flow. You can close just the front and keep the back vents open or close it completely.

It's lightweight, comfortable, warm and accepts audio options in the zippered earpieces. Another bonus for Fall 2011, the adjustment goes to a Boa system for easy ratcheting and a snug fit on-the-fly.

Great helmet

By:
March 3, 2011

I am kind of on the fence when it comes to helmets. At a certain point a helmet becomes useless. At around 15-20 MPH a helmet is not going to protect your brain (believe me). For a long time I refused to wear one, I have seen people die from head trauma while wearing a helmet. However I do see a purpose to them when it comes to low speed incidents in an area where there is a very real possibility of hitting a rock or tree. Don't think that because you have a helmet on means you can crash hard with no consequences.

That being said, this is a very comfortable, well vented helmet. I would highly recommend it.

Super comfy

By:
December 30, 2010

I use to think i was too cool for helmets, but i guess everyone has to grow up some day. Needless to say, this is my first helment. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable helmet. Everyone's head is different, so try it on, but for me its perfect. The static-x liner is great; cuts down on all that static you get from hats/helmets.

Super Gnarly helmet

By:
October 11, 2010

This helmet may be a ton of money, but hey this is actually worth it. This helmet is so light that it feels like i dont have a helmet on compared to my old smith hustle. I paired it up with the smith i/o. why not pair a expensive goggle with a expensive helmet. The fit is great i couldn't even manage to have a gapper gap.(even if i did want one) The venting is great and the option for audio in the earpieces is sweet, using regular headphones works great. And to top it all of it looks gnarly!

February 12, 2011

This is the best helmet i have ever had. It is incredibly light, incredibly comfortable, incredibly vented. If I would get hot, i would open the vents and i would cool down. The helmet cams fit perfect on the strap perfectly. I would never get another helmet. 100/100.

Very light and protective, liner needs some work

By:
January 23, 2011

All of the extras for this helmet are great except one major feature - the liner. I read it somewhere else as well and wanted to agree that it seemed like an after-thought to smith. I know they are trying to keep it low-profile, but it isn't half as comfortable as helmets I have previously owned like the Variant Brim, the Giro G10 MX, etc. It is a great helmet, but definitely not $180 great. I am still trying to figure out how they could charge more than the Variant when the Vantage has less materials.

Warm but Ventable Safety and Performance.

By:

Huge, huge fan of this helmet. Fit is outstanding, keeps your noggin warm, perfect fit with smith googles, Pimp style and outstanding safety. What you are paying for on this helmet is the fact that it vents epically. I dig it.. High marks from a guy who put in 42 days on the hill in this helmet last year....

wish it was adjustable

By:
December 25, 2010

Both the Giro and Smith helmets have small holes in the base of the neck that let air in on really cold windy days. When you're sitting on a chairlift, and the wind is blowing from behind, it can make your head cold. On these days, I use a baklava or something underneath. This can be a problem with the smith helmet since it is not adjustable, like the gyro is. Also, the Smith's seem to fit a little small. The large in the Smith fit very snug and there was no room for layering underneath. I had to have XL and that was almost too loose. The quality seems comparable between both. But the gyro allows me to adjust to changing conditions. Smith should make their helmets adjustable

Good enough for Sage, good enough for me

February 15, 2011

This helmet has served me well in various types of conditions. Best features are the vents and the weight. Multiple vents and vent positions allow you to wear this helmet comfortable on the warmest days. The helmet is also super light, so much so that you barely notice it at all. The one minor downside is the very small brim thing on the front (although it is technically a brimless helmet). I prefer a plain front

Just picked this up the other week, and so far so good! Super comfortable and great fit. The 21 total vents are super adjustable, and way easy to use. The interior adjustability is also great for when that flow gets to long and the helmet needs to get a bit bigger... would suggest using with Smith goggles, as the compatibility is awesome. 5/5 stars! Love it!
