Smith Slider Series Polarized Toaster sunglasses feature removable interchangeable lenses. Among Smith's line of sunglasses, Sliders are the call for multiple sports and varied light conditions. The Slider Toasters are one of Smith's most popular shades, and as with all Slider Series shades, each pair comes with 3 lens sets for specific light conditions, depending on your frame color choice. The Polarized Toaster offers polarized lenses featuring Horizontal Glare Reduction, or HGR. Horizontal Glare Reduction is a filter designed to specifically filter out 99% of reflected glare, resulting in enhanced visual acuity and reduced eye fatigue. Toaster frames wrap slightly around your head to minimize the effects of wind, snow, glare and errant tree branches. The Toasters in particular offer the smallest Smith frame available. *Only one set of lenses is Polarized. The replacements are not.
Bottom Line: The perfect small-frame sunglass for watersports, driving, or any other activity where glare is an issue.
I love my toasters. I loved these for the 5 days that i had them, and then they disappeared. This was my 3rd or 4th pair, so i can attest to their awesomeness, even though i no longer have these. They are perfect if you have a small face, and don't want to look like a a bug. and if you hate glare, you have to go with the polarized lens (in fact, i don't know why anyone would by a regular lens at all after wearing these babies).
Have a pair of old toasters in black cherry. I'm looking to buy a new pair of polarized lens for everyday use, skiing and kayaking. Any suggustions on which polarized lens, brown, copper or gray????

Smith has the best customer service ever. Toasters are indestructible, but easy to lose! I'll never wear anything else! You can't go wrong with any smith product.
This is my second pair of Toaster Sliders. I really love these glasses. They definitely are for smaller heads. My first pair lasted several years until someone sat on them. Great for biking, hiking, boating, and everyday use. I find the interchangeable lenses very useful in adapting to whatever activity I am doing.
Trying to decide between Toasters and Threshold. I can't find anyone around selling them to try them on. I am a man, with a medium size face. Recommendations?
These are good for smaller heads, whereas the thresholds are better for more medium nogins, so I'd get the thresholds. Both are great quality and get good reviews. Hope this helps!
These are my favourite glasses for running and cycling. Had to buy a second pair after I ran over my first pair. Have a third pair now - black polarized and root beer fade. Really like being able to switch out lenses - love the rose lenses.
Here are your options from Smith Optics. I do not see a "root beer" color, but I hope this helps you. http://www.smithoptics.com/Toaster-Slider_18_1163.html?fl=true
This is my second pair of Smith sulasses an I love this pair as much as my other pair. I hve a small face and look like a toddler playing dress-up in those giant "fashionable" sunglasses. Smith Optics has gotten the fit right. I'll never try another brand.
I have three pairs of these glasses for a reason. I love them. They are so light, but I never have a problem with them falling off. I used to use them every day as a lifeguard and they had great coverage. I have also used them skiing and biking and have been very happy with them.
I guess I'm another repeat customer here - this is my third pair of Smith Toasters (broke the first pair and the second pair was stolen). As I was shopping around for sunglasses this time around I thought I might be able to find the fit and functionality in a less expensive pair. I fell in love with the interchangable lenses with my first pair of Toasters years ago and just wasn't able to find another frame that fit as well and had that option. I was glad to find this pair came with a hard shell zipper case that holds the lenses. You really can't beat being able to purchase a new set of (non-polarized) lenses for $20 from Smith when your current lenses get scratched. I really do love these glasses :)
I have a small pupillary distance (the distance from one pupil center to the other) so have a hard time finding glasses that fit. Confounding is the fact that the bridge of my nose is shallow and my cheek bones high (aka: asian face). These sunglasses fit perfectly and stay put during trail running. The interchangeable lenses are tough to take in and out since I just got them but the manufacturer promises that it'll get easier over time and use. I'm a very happy camper.
These are probably my 4th or 5th pair of the Toasters. I just can't live without them. I use them for skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, everything. They are so light, but pretty indestructable. Don't think about them, get em'!
I really have enjoyed these sunglasses. The polarized lenses are great, I use them most of the time. Then for mountain biking, I just pop them out and throw the yellow or clear ones in and I'm ready to go. The frame is also very nice and light. They fit snuggly on my face and don't move around. The lenses do tend to shift a bit as someone else noted, but the movement is so small that it doesn't disrupt your vision at all... and it isn't enough that I'm worried about the lenses falling out. Overall, these are really great sunglasses!
These sunglasses are the bomb. They do not move at all when you run. Not only that the interchangeable lenses are perfect for ALL activities to include shooting at the gun range. I lost mine at the beach the first week I got them and had no qualms about getting a new pair right away. Best for smaller faces, esp. women.
My Smith Toasters are the best sunglasses for my active lifestyle. My racing bikes, tri's, etc., they are the lightest wt and most dependable equipment I own. Thanks for the impeccable service backcountry! I live in Texas and order my glasses on line each year from backcountry due to the dependable and efficient service provided. Thanks!
First of all, these sunglasses are definitely for very small faces, for me that was fine. The frames are very small, though. Although I like the flexibility of having multiple sets of lenses, I find that the lenses are not nearly as snug as I think they should be. I don't think there is any danger of them falling out, but they do move around a little and I find myself constantly pushing them back into place. Overall, a decent pair of shades that holds snug to your head and provides nice flexibility with the extra lenses. I probably would not spend so much again on these, though.
Someone told me that more sunglasses are purchased in Seattle than anywhere else in the country. Is this because our eyes are used to the overcast light and can't handle the bright sun when it comes out? Or is this because the sun is so rarely bright that we've lost the last pair we bought by the time we see it? These glasses are perfect for me. I love to wear the yellow or orange lenses when I'm out running or biking or even driving on overcast days. It's easy to switch to the darker lenses during the sunny days. They are light and comfortable and durable. I highly recommend them.
I love these sunglasses - definitely perfect for someone with a small head. The stay on my head really well and are a joy to see through! I always keep the polarized lenses in, they are great in all conditions.
I love these Smith sunglasses. I have worn all sorts of shades, and these are by far the most comfortable. I wear them running and they stay put really well. They are great everyday where ever glasses too! I would highly recommend these Sliders to anyone with a small to medium sized face.
I have had my smith toasters for 5 years. I love them, I thought I lost them and I was going to spend the money just to get another pair. I wear them everywhere, on the water, in the car, and on the slopes. I hardly ever change the lenses because just the amber lens makes crystal clear vision in about all conditions. I know when I don't have them.
I LOVE these sunglasses. I just can't wear anything else. I have a small face and they fit perfectly. they never fall off and never slide down my nose. Also, Smith warranty is awesome. I bought my original pair back in about 2001 and after a few years they started to break down a little. The smith logos fell off and the piece holding the lenses in broke (although the lenses stayed in fine) so I figured I'd try my luck and send the frames back for replacement. And I got a brand new pair!!!!! I was so happy! I started with the regular gray lenses but now i have purchased the replacement polarized. Once you go polarized you can't go back!!! This year I went for a trendier 'big sunglass' look of the Smith Shoreline. Which are super cute but they are just not as comfy. They are big and heavy and slide down my nose. Boo! So, I just keep going back for my Toasters.
I love my toasters. I loved these for the 5 days that i had them, and then they disappeared. This was my 3rd or 4th pair, so i can attest to their awesomeness, more...
