Wrap the Smith Skullcandy Single Shot Snap Fit Audio Kit around your ear-holes and ski to the beat of your own drum. The Single Shot works with Smith’s Variant, Maze, Intrigue, Premise, and Venue Helmets. The inline volume control gives you the power to instantly drown out the gaper on the chairlift who’s asking you about what time of year the deer turn into elk , and the standard audio jack will work with your iPod, cd player, or even your dinosaur cassette walkman.

Bottom Line: Just your skis, you, and the music.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

So here's the deal. I struggled trying to figure out how to get the iPhone to work with the single shot and the twin tip. No luck whatsoever! I even talked to reps from Smith Optics and they couldn't help me. Then I got around to thinking, and here is what I came up with!

Solution: Purchase the Single Shot, the Griffin SmartTalk Headphone Adapter with Control and Mic for iPhone, and a short audio cable (6 in or so). It comes out to about $20 extra for the Griffin and cable, which is about the same you would pay for the twin tip.

YOUR WELCOME!

This setup worked perfectly for me (I have a blackberry). The button muted the music and also switched between music and phone call when one was coming in. Only 2 drawbacks, and I suspect that both are Blackberry related: 1) the only indication I get when a call is coming in is that the music stops playing; 2) the button on the microphone doesn't hang up the call, just mutes it. You need to hang up using the phone.

It worked fine for playing music, but the function button would only mute the music. If the phone rang, you could only hear the person on the other line, but they can't hear you. The reason is because the jack included is for music only, not for mic.

Thanks for the info - got a question though... what about the singleshot setup and your iphone didn't work? Did music play via the ipod app? Were you not able to switch to phone calls?

No, it will only fit some Smith helmets. Snap fit is not really using snaps, but using an I beam thing that snaps into their helmets.

Ok audio

So i never use my phone while skiing, so i only use this for my music. It works pretty good for music and has pretty good sound. The only complaint I have with this set up is that the ear pieces tend to fall out. I don't know what it is, but the ear pieces don't stick in the slots fully. Other than that it's a nice attachment.

what is the difference between the twin tip and single shot snap

what is the difference between the twin tip and single shot snap fit audio kit? I like the simplicity of the single shot cord. Can anyone give me the pro's and cons. Thanks.

Twin tip gives you two audio jacks feeding into one wire that takes the signal to the earphones. This allows you to connect one to your mp3 player and one to your mobile phone. So you can listen to your music but if a call comes through it will redirect the call through and you can answer that. It has a built in microphone so you can answer it without touching your phone.

The single shot is a straight up connect your music to you earphones. This does not have a microphone built in to the controller.

Hope this helps!

Good as is, great with Zst's mod

Paired this with the Smith Variant and am very happy with the results. Would have given it 5 stars but really had to us zst's Griffin solution below to get the solution I was looking for. Plugs into my blackberry, and works for music and phone calls (and toggles well from music to phone call...see my comments below for more on this). The sound quality and loudness were fine for me (I'm not exactly an audiophile). As an added bonus, if I turn it up loud enough everyone on the chairlift gets to listen. Party.

Just not nearly loud enough

Got it to fit my Giro helmet no problem, but I ended up returning it because even with the volume cranked to the max on both the unit and the mp3 player or smartphone...it was just way too low. Like a 5 on a scale of 1 - 10. No way you could hear it if you were going fast.

Is this the same audio system that is included in the Variant

Is this the same audio system that is included in the Variant Brim Skullcandy Audio helmet (SKU SMI0484)? The audio helmet is only offered in 1 color and 2 sizes, if ordering this with the standard Variant Brim is equivilant than one has a much larger color and size selection. Thanks.

I don't know if it's the exact same, but it looks identical to the earpieces it replaced. I had a medium helmet and the S/M single shot worked great for me. I wear approx a 7 1/8-1/4" pro-fit hat.

Yeah, it is compatible with the Variant Brim. So if you want to spend more on them separate, this is what you need.
