Description

Give fog the Turbo Fan finger.

The Smith Phenom Turbo Fan is a favorite of frontside and backcountry badasses alike—just ask super-hucker Eric Hjorliefson and countless professional mountain guides if you don't believe us. Patented Vaporator technology takes care of fog before it can even form, while the 2-speed microelectric Turbo Fan (powered for 50 hours by a single AAA battery) spins silently, pulling air across the Carbonic dual-spherical lens even when you're standing still. Pro skiers and boarders use it, the U.S. military helped develop it, and Smith is the only one to offer it.

  • Silent 2-speed anti-fog fan for the ultimate in fog-fighting
  • Medium fit for medium faces
  • Spherical Carbonic-X Lens for clear, distortion-free optics
  • Patented Vaporator technology keeps lens clear even during a backcountry hike
  • QuickFit Strap Adjustment system makes it easy to fix the fit on the fly
  • Ultra-wide silicone backed strap is comfortable and won't slip off your helmet
  • Dual layer DryWix foam for all-day comfort and moisture management
  • OSD2 and eyeglass compatible
  • Includes microfiber goggle lens bag

Are these compatible with Smith's Variant brim helmet? Seems the fan in the middle of the top part of the frame will create a gap between top of goggle and the helmet?

Responded on

The Smith Variant Helmet and the Smith Phenom goggle aren't just compatible, they fit like they were made for each other. Since they are both Smith products... I guess they kinda were.

Is it possible to remove the lens if it gets scratched or if the weather changes from sunny to cloudy (or vice versa)? If so, how easy is it to swap out lenses?

Responded on

Hi Carl,
Yes you can swap out lenses with this goggle. I can't say exactly how easy this one is to switch out since I have never used it. But Smith goggles in general are very easy to swap the lenses on. Hope this helps!

Rock The Fan!

I use these when its dumping outside or my heart rate is up and I need a goggle on. The noise when in the "ON' position isn't noticeable unless it is silent. But when in the "HIGH" position to clear up any fogging the noise is more noticeable, but not too bad. When wearing the goggles, always have them in the "ON" position , then when you experience fogging, move to the "HIGH" position and the fog will dissipate. over all I am a huge fan, but I have had to remember that in given situations (when overhead blower drowns you, you get lost in the white room, your hear rate is through the roof) any and every goggle will fog a bit.

worth the extra change

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've spent prob 1000$ over the past 10 years looking for a goggle that wouldn't fog on a storm day
I've stopped looking after using these goggles
