Too Wide for Pin Heads

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

I have been trying to find some glasses to fit my narrow head, and these aren't it. I have been a die-hard Smith fan but all of their new glasses are so square and wide (Chemist, Mastermind, Outlier) and fit funny and have a big gap between the bottom of the glasses and cheek. I tried the Mastermind and the Outlier. The Mastermind is a bigger eyepiece than the Outlier, but the frame is the same shape. They would probably look good on a wider face and head but not a narrow one. These glasses have no curve to the front of the frame and I wouldn't consider them a wrap around type glasses. The positive side is they have nice glass in them. They just aren't for me.

Decent Glasses

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've had my sunglasses for about a year. I use them for hiking, driving, and walking around town. My complaints would be that the hinges came pretty loose on mine fairly quick, causing the sunglasses to be off center. In addition, I wish the glasses wrapped around the eyes a bit more. There is a good amount of space between your eyes and the glasses causing a good amount of light to seep through the sides which can be a bit annoying.

All-around solid choice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The Outliers are smaller frames than the Masterminds. For $80, these are pretty hard to beat. I bought two pairs. Gotten a lot of compliments on the Celeste blue pair I bought

All around shades

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are great if you're active or just cruising around. The rubber arms keep 'em glued to your face while running or bouncing around, but they're styled for town. The lenses are great, very durable, and easy on the eyes. Probably best for small to medium faces (check out the Mastermind if you have a larger face).

Nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I picked up a pair of the Seaweed/Red Sol-X a few weeks ago, and haven't put 'em down. They fit my medium-ish face well, and don't make me look like I have enormous bug eyes. The seaweed green is fairly subtle, and doesn't shout out "look at me, I'm wearing green sunglasses!" to everyone around you. The Red Sol-X lenses don't overly mute natural colors.

I'd buy 'em again.

Awesome Rx-able Sport Shades!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I am a professional optician. I wear my Smith Outliers almost all the time, despite owning other high end performance sunwear from other manufacturers. They are perfect for all my adventures, including high altitude climbing, fishing, hiking, hunting, and skiing. This is such a well thought-out pair of sunglasses. With their medium-large fit and keyhole bridge, they fit most people well. The super grippy nosepads and temples make them very secure when things get hot. Their coverage provides superb sun protection, almost as good as glacier glasses. The Evolve frame material is super tough but also light for all day comfort. I also love this frame because it is a 6 base curvature, which makes them great for mounting Rx sun lenses in. I have put about 10 patients into this specific model and they all love them. The stock Smith lenses are great too, especially now that Smith is offering the Outlier in Chromapop. I see and sell many different sunglass models, and this is what I choose to wear myself. Enough said.

I straight up blasted these things.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've thrown a 65 lbs water pack across my shoulder with these things hanging down and they ended up getting caught -- multiple times. The durability is unreal, and they look good too. I was on the water for 8+ hours a day for over a month and these things protected my eyes great. Highly recommend.

Awesome fit, awesome look

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Between the Outlier and the Mastermind, you can't go wrong. A great looking pair of shades you can be active in.
