    Fragile - warranty worthless

I really liked my Smith Mavericks until they accidently fell off the kitchen counter and landed on the vinyl kitchen floor. When they did the ear piece snapped at the hinge. Weird I thought - these were supposed to be very robust glasses. I checked the warranty and was relieved to find that these expensive sunglasses were - like most good outdoor equipment now days - covered by a lifetime warranty. I went to the website, followed instructions to ship them back only UPS, paid the $10 to do so and then got a call saying the breakage wasn't covered, but offering to sell me a new pair for $80. So much for the warranty. And, if you're thinking of buying Smith because they are well made - forget it. i can't imagine any pair of sunglasses I ever owned in 50 years of being outdoors, including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Julbo and others, including a bunch of cheap glasses bought at the drugstore when my good glasses got left at home, where the earpiece would break when dropped from 3' onto the kitchen floor. This was my first pair of Smith glasses and will be my last. Save your money and buy Oakley, Julbo or another brand with a real guarantee.

    Great Glasses

I used these fly fishing in northern new mexico recently. The clarity was great and the glasses did a great job by adjusting the tint during the constantly changing weather. Comfortable and the lenses shed water well. Would recommend to anyone
