With the Smith Interlock Whisper Sunglasses, you won't be wrestling around and cursing under your breath when you change your lenses. Smith's new INTERLOCK Interchange system makes switching out these polarized lenses a breeze. Just twist the Interlock Whisper Sunglasses' temple arm to open the front of the frame a sliver, switch lenses, and twist the arm back for a secure close. The Polarized Carbonic lenses cut down on glare, and the Interlock Whisper shades' durable frame works well for winter and summer sports, along with casual trips around town. *See sizing chart for list of interchangeable lenses.

Bottom Line: There will be no angry shouting when you replace the lenses on Smith's Whisper Sunglasses.

So great I bought another

I have a fairly small face for a guy, and I generally have a hard time finding sunglasses that fit and function well for the variety of activities I do. Well, when I bought the Smith Interlock 01 back in 2008, I fell in love, and have been desperately searching for another pair ever since -- I'd argue that the Interlock Whisper are virtually identical specs with just a bit squarer lens shape.

Basically, these are lightweight, they fit my face really well, let virtually no light in around the periphery yet still breathe well too. Although I was a bit hesitant about the "interlock" system and whether it would hold up to constant use along with the lenses, three years later the frames are good as new, and there are no scratches on the lenses despite a number of heavy drops and occasional rough handling.

As a note, I've read a few complaints about switching lenses causing the frames to not fit well (and showing some gaps), but there's a simple explanation: you may have placed the lenses are on the wrong side. It can be easy to do as the lenses are nearly symmetrical, and they will still "fit" when placed on the wrong side. But if you look closely there are slight differences between left and right lenses, and when done properly, they fit like a glove each and every time (I often take one out at a time, find its match with a different lens, replace, then repeat on the other side).

If there were a sixth star available, I would give it.

I got these "Gems" for my wife for her birthday last year and to my suprise she loves 'em. I was really impressed as well with how easy the lenses are to change out. My wife had the habit of carrying around a few different pairs of classes but after she got these beauties she sticks to the one. Also, I give these a "5" be cause my wife looks smoken' hot in 'em.

Solid shades

I have a small face and needed something with a low profile. I picked these up last spring after trying them on and have not looked at another pair of sunglasses ever since.

The Interlock system works flawlessly to swap lenses. I use mine for mountain biking and casual use and have had no problems. The ability to easily swap to a clear lens on an overcast day is real nice. These glasses also stay in place while still being super comfortable. Even during violent crashes and trips over the bars, they just stay right in place.

I was initially a little worried about durability and how long they would last when I bought them. However, after a full years use they still look and feel like brand new. There is no play in the hinges and I have no issues with gaps inbetween the lenses and the frame. Additionally, I am confident that Smith's warranty would be there for me if the interlock system failed.

Would not hesitate to recommend these!

interlock is cool

I just bought these yesterday to celebrate getting contact lenses. My sunglasses came with 3 pairs of lenses, and I've switched them all out a couple of times now. The lenses seem to fit great inside the glasses, and I don't see any light leaking through at all.

Mine came with dark gray lens, a pink lens, and an almost clear yellowish lens.

The way you twist the temple arm to loosen the lenses is pretty nifty. And you don't have to worry about the lenses popping out because during normal use they are locked down.

These seem like some high quality glasses and i'm looking forward to skiing on the bright sunny NM days with them.

Great all purpose sunglasses

I bought a pair this summer and wore them everyday, all day in Yosemite for 2 weeks and while hiking the John Muir Trail. They were awesome! I use the almost clear lens while bike riding in the evenings. I have been very happy with their performance.

Interlock does not work as designed

By:

I purchased these glasses to use the multiple lens "interlock" system. The problem is that once the lenses are changed there is a "gap" between the frame and lens letting light in.

Most likely you swapped the lenses incorrectly. You probably put the right lens in the left side of the frame and the left lens in the right side of the frame.
